Upon hearing Kate call her name, Ivy's pupils finally refocused. Her long, thick eyelashes fluttered gently, much like a butterfly catching the scent of a flower and softly beating its wings.
Kate stood up to turn off the camera in the room. When she sat back down beside Ivy, she was a little closer.
"Do you want to talk?" Kate asked softly.
To many, Kate seemed aloof and domineering, as if she inhabited a world of her own, impenetrable to others. But in front of Ivy, Kate was exceedingly gentle. She always considered Ivy thoroughly, never forcing her into anything.
Her question stemmed from genuine concern, not a performative display meant to pry into matters Ivy preferred to keep private. Even in the closest relationships, everyone has secret corners of their heart. Kate respected Ivy and her secrets.
"Actually..." Ivy thought for a moment and decided to be honest with Kate about her sudden change in mood. She didn't want Kate to worry.
