Chapter 22 - It's time to learn magic II

I put my hand under my chin and tilted my lips. The sly gaze of Nuka was on me, and despite my low IQ, I knew the reason behind it.

"I don't care if they consider Arina just a lucky brat. Because deep down, I know that Arina doesn't merely rely on her God-given traits."

"Well, after this..."

"Ms, I have a question."

Everyone's gaze turned towards Nuka.

"Go ahead, Mr. Nuka."

"As you pointed out, evil is the source of all bads and wrongdoing. So if someone sponser's is evil, wouldn't this make them evil aswell? How are they accepted in society?"

His words sparked a noise of murmurs.

"What a brash question to ask!"

"But he's right. How do we know that the evil beings, with their control over their followers, don't want to destroy our world? Because that's their job!"

"My dad sponser is a evil. But he's not evil. So stop talking nonsense!"

"You're defending him just because he's your dad..."

"What did you say?"

"I like this guy," Diana let out a loud chuckle and said.

I covered my face with my hand and sighed.

'I hope I don't get involved in these matters like last time.'

"You asked an interesting question, dear Nuka! Yes, that's right. There are many possibilities and speculations regarding the relationship between beings and their sponsers, especially concerning evil. But let me give you an example. The last serial killer caught by government agents had a sponser who is among the greatest gods; the god of water and rain. A god who desires nothing but goodwill for humanity. And alongside him, we have the current king. A great and generous man but with an evil sponser..."

Everyone was staring at the teacher in silence and curiosity, as if they had finally come across an interesting topic.

"The existence of good or evil as a sponser in our lives may have an effect on our moral trajectory. But in the end, it is we who decide whether to follow them or not. And if any evil intentions are considered, it is the government's duty to punish you. So we never judge people based on their sponser. But..."

She narrowed her eyes and scanned all of us with her gaze.

"As you know, our world is formed by a combination of the magic of good and evil. And between these two, there is an equal and reciprocal relationship. This means that for every being we have with a good sponser, we have a corresponding being with an evil sponser. This is a competition that must never come to an end. Because when it ends, our world will also meet its end."

Her gaze had turned strange and frightening, as if she had become possessed.

"The world is a balance of good and evil. And no one still knows how this balance was formed or who created it. But one thing is certain. This balance is the law of our existence. And if someone tries to break this law, it wouldn't have a goid consequence upon them..."

"..."

"There are people who have a particular interest in power. There are those who seek excitement. There are those whose no one knows their goals. What I want to say might be about one of these cases or a few rare others. A being that seeks more than one sponser..."

"From the past to the present, there have been individuals whose behavior was out of balance. Worse than a murderer, a thief, or any other criminal. Those who made strange efforts to gain one or two more sponsors. Many of them couldn't find a sponsor willing to contract with them. Some died before reaching their goals, and some were executed. This is the fate of someone who does not submit to their destiny..."

For a moment, I felt like she was looking directly at me when said the word "submit." Up until now, I had never made eye contact with any teacher.

'Maybe it was just an illusion?'

"Well, if someone, for example, contracts with two sponsors, how do you realize their existence? Is there a way to understand their presence?"

With Nuka's question, the teacher suddenly became glitchy. My eyes widened in surprise.

"It's better not to continue this discussion too much because we will fall behind in the lesson. Well, let me continue with where we stopped..."

I was sweating. I don't know if it was from fear or astonishment. But whatever the feeling was, I didn't like it at all. I looked around. Everyone was acting completely normal and relaxed, as if nothing had happened. True, it was just for a moment, but it was still noticeable. Like watching a scratched CD. That familiar red and green...

I rubbed my eyes.

'Maybe I just imagined it again...'

"Well, kids, since you are going to find out who your sponsor is in the near future, let's take a look at their names. There are many good and evil sponsors. Many of them have remained unknown, and their names have not yet been mentioned. I'm going to summarize the names of the well-known ones..."

I picked up my pen. Surely, if this had really happened, everyone would be panicking like me. So, this was definitely my imagination.

"The most followers among the good belong to the Elements. Aqua, Ventus, Terra, and Ignis are the names of the spirits of the four elements. One-third of the beings in the world are sponsored by these four benevolents, and you all know what kind of powers they provide."

I wrote the names in my notebook.

'Azima, from today you must focus all your attention on your studies to become a successful person. Don't fall asleep in class like last time.'

"The next sponsor I want to introduce is evil. A demon that has sponsered very few individuals. However, it grants destructive power to its followers. Samael, an evil that was once an angel and a well spirited one. He lost his status by the Absolute Creator, but no one knows the reason..."

I smirked mockingly.

'If the belief system here is the same as in our world, then the reason behind it is predictable.'

"In addition to the history of Samael, his powers are also ambiguous to us. In the whole of our historical existence, Samael has only made 15 followers, and each of them created different and random spells. Thus, we assume that Samael does not have a unified power. What is important for us about this being is the evil that he possesses..."

While writing, my head became heavy. The extreme fatigue that previously overwhelmed me while studying is now shining again.
