"Shit! I forgot something at the shop—I need to go back," Lionel muttered, glancing at Adrian as he turned away.
"What? No! You are not going back in there to see that old man and make me look like a fool again," Adrian snapped, crossing his arms.
Lionel barely acknowledged him. He knew better than to argue—it wasn't worth it. The consequences of forgetting were far more important than Adrian's complaints.
He started walking away, but Adrian's voice suddenly rose, sharp with alarm.
"Wait… who the fuck are you people?" Adrian shouted, his words startling Lionel mid-step.
Lionel turned to see a group of men in black attire approaching them, their movements deliberate and unnervingly calm.
"Damn it…" Lionel muttered under his breath, panic setting in. 'Are they finally after me?'
