Chapter 39 - Evelyn

Inside a room with modest furniture and wooden planks, Lionel lay on the bed, soft padded clothes beneath his body. His eyelashes flickered slightly, and his brows knitted.

Then a creak sounded—someone entered. The figure was a lady dressed in a green flowing gown with a small gold chain adorning her neck.

"He still isn't awake…I wonder when he will wake," she said, her voice soft, matching her serene, beautiful face.

She had a small nose, full lips, and milky skin. Her chest was modest in size. She sat down on the small space on the bed where Lionel lay.

She placed the pail of water she carried onto the floor. Stretching her thin, fair hand forward, she reached for the small cloth resting on the bed's edge and dipped it into the pail she had just set down.

"When is he going to wake up? It's been a week…" she murmured as she wrung out the cloth and began wiping his body.
