Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Fight to the Death

Looking up at the tiny ships and even tinier creatures before it, the giant serpent's mind was filled with endless rage.

Over the past year, Meng had been constantly hunting in the coastal waters, obtaining enough food to fill its stomach and satisfy the intense hunger it felt at all times. Meanwhile, its body grew more enormous by the day.

Now, it was like a living mountain range, undulating in the waves and sea.

And when it had grown to an extent that even it could not fathom, it naturally began to shed its skin like other snakes.

However, the immense size of its body made the shedding process extremely slow. From the start of the shed until now, nearly half a month had passed and only half the skin was shed, finally giving Atler and the others their chance.

The bolts as thick as a child's arm were utterly minuscule to it. Being shot was like a human being bitten by an ant, originally not worth noticing at all.

But it just so happened that it was in the process of shedding at this moment. The newly formed body had not fully grown scales yet, leaving it in an extremely sensitive state where any pain felt as sharp as a needle.

Thus, the giant serpent flew into a violent rage.

Under the influence of its hazy memories, it had no intention of harming humans and no interest in eating them. The few unintentional encounters with humans were all avoided, merely leaving some legends of sea monsters among the fishermen.

This time too, it originally planned to simply leave. However, to its surprise…

These creatures as tiny as specks of dust dared to offend and actively attack it???

A surge of indescribable anger rose in its heart.

"The path to heaven lies open before you, yet you do not walk it; the gates of hell are shut tight, yet you charge right in! Actively seeking death, don't blame me then."

At this moment, the violent aura in the giant serpent's eyes completely filled its vision.

"ROAR!!!!!!"

The giant serpent, with a body as vast as a mountain range, blotting out the sky, raised its mountainous head and let out a thunderous roar that made the sea boil.

The deep and resonant roar even made the wild thunder in the sky dance, countless storms suddenly born as if wanting to overturn the entire sea.

Under the dark sky, the torrential downpour grew even more intense. The storms on the sea's surface formed countless waterspouts, causing the infinitely spectacular scene of massive columns of water being s*ck*d up into the sky, the whole world seeming to have fallen into utter chaos.

But Atler would never understand the giant serpent's thoughts before him. Seeing the behemoth, his sole intention to avenge his brother-in-law for the family, he suddenly shouted loudly:

"Turn the ship around!"

The brothers of the Edgar family immediately understood. Their faces flushed red, veins bulging on their foreheads as they rowed with all their might.

Under Atler's command, the dragon-headed warship that was originally heading straight for the giant serpent suddenly changed direction, abruptly arcing in the turbulent sea to attempt to avoid the serpent's side.

Atler's judgment was correct, because…

Immediately after, that behemoth whose body was already so vast that one couldn't see its end directly smashed its mountainous head towards their original position.

"BOOM!!!!!!"

In an instant, as if heaven and earth were torn asunder, the sea was suddenly struck open into an indescribably huge whirlpool. An unfathomable amount of seawater erupted forth under the compression of gravity, the entire ocean shaking and moaning as if crying out in anguish.

The trembling sea surface formed countless towering waves over a hundred feet high, layer upon layer.

Like the ripples when a stone falls into a pond, except this time the ripples were so enormous that the undulations of the waves reached an unimaginably massive scale.

"BOOM!!!"

Nearby, a dragon-headed warship directly beside the point of impact failed to dodge in time. The unimaginably colossal waves suddenly surged towards it.

Before these titanic waves, the sixty-foot long warship was reduced to a toy, as small as a child's plaything.

"Crack!!!"

On the hull, countless magic runes that had already been pushed to their limits shone as bright as the sun, but no matter how powerful the runes were, they could hardly withstand a force like a natural disaster.

Thus, the runes all shattered apart one after another, unable to bear the tremendous pressure.

Then, the violent, sky-high waves, with irresistible momentum, directly engulfed that warship that looked as small as a toy before it, not even leaving a shred of wreckage behind.

Sharing the same fate was another extremely unfortunate dragon-headed warship.

These bold and fearless Norse warriors didn't even have a chance to make their mark before being laid to eternal rest in the depths of the ocean…

"RUMBLE!!!"

At this time, the furious sky had already become completely dark. Under the dense clouds, lightning flashed, as if responding to the summons of the giant serpent below.

"BOOM!!!"

And then, accompanied by a huge splash, the mountainous serpent once again broke through the surface with its head, leaping out from the waves while stirring up countless giant waves, chasing after the warship trying to distance itself.

Its figure on the sea was like an endless mountain range. Every swing of its massive body stirred up enormous thousand-foot waves and countless storms, as if wind and thunder accompanied it on either side.

At the same time, the other few warships finally adjusted their positions, firing bolts towards the giant serpent.

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

Bolt after bolt was shot out, directly piercing the behemoth's tail and abdomen. The flesh that had lost the protection of scales and become extremely fragile was powerless to resist the bolts shot with titanic force, spurting out gushing blood.

However, what would be a mortal wound to any other creature was not even as severe as a mosquito bite to the serpent whose body stretched as far as the eye could see.

On the contrary, that pain only further enraged the giant serpent.

"ROAR!!!"

The serpent raised its upper body, stirring up countless gales. It opened its cavernous maw, as deep as a bottomless abyss, and began to inhale deeply. Storms swirled with its breath, countless fierce winds mixed with seawater drawn up and swallowed into its belly. And then…

"HA!!!!!"

Facing the warship, a great flood like the rush of a mighty river suddenly spurted from the serpent's mouth.

"RUMBLE!!!"

The fierce winds howled, the cascading floodwaters like ten thousand galloping horses, its vast momentum intending to devour all in its path.

"Not good!!!"

Lina only had time to cry out in alarm before the countless runes on the warship shattered one after another, unable to withstand the immense pressure. The ship was engulfed directly by the all-consuming deluge…
