"What's the point of all this if you're just going to betray me?" I shouted, fury and disbelief surging through me as I faced my husband.
"Because I'm fed up! I can't handle this any longer! You can't give me the child I've always wanted! I dreamed of having a family!" His voice thundered back, sending tremors down my spine.
"What are you saying? You promised we'd make it through this together! Remember? What happened to that?"
"It's not the same anymore, things have shifted—everything changes. This is a choice I've made. I'm sorry, Rich. But I can't stay with you. I love her—I love Tyla. She can give me what I've always wanted, unlike you!"
"So that's it? I wish you never married me! I wish you never made those promises!" The words erupted from me, raw and unspeakably painful.
"I'm sorry, Rich. But I can't do this anymore. Let's get a divorce." The words hung in the air like an unholy echo as he turned away, refusing e walaven a glance back.
"No, Red! Don't go!" My heart raced as I sprinted after him, desperation clawing at my chest. I reached out and grasped the hem of his dress, my grip tightening as if it were the only thing holding me together.
"What the hell, Rich? You're not in my heart anymore. I've moved on—let it go! We're only hurting each other!" His voice dripped with disdain as he snorted, heartless.
He tried to shake me off, but I held on, my tears spilling down my cheeks. "Please, Red. You mean everything to me! I can't imagine life without you. Don't leave me. I'm begging you!"
"I said stop this nonsense!" he bellowed, fury radiating from him. "It's time to face reality! I want a family, Rich. Not this!" His anger surged, and, in an explosive moment, he shoved me away so hard that I crashed to the ground.
Pain lanced through my elbow as it collided with the table, but that was nothing compared to the emptiness I felt as he stormed out. The door slammed shut, and with it, my last shred of hope.
Waves of despair crashed over me. I wept, my heart shattering into a million pieces. "Why can't I be loved?" I whispered, my voice trembling.
In that dark moment, I stood on the edge of the building, the city sprawling below like a canvas painted with sorrow. "If I end it now, it'll be over. No more pain, no more heartache," I thought, closing my eyes against the world.
I leaped into the void, the wind roaring past me as the ground rushed up to meet me. A bittersweet smile crept across my face, mingling with the tears that streamed down.
"I'm sorry," I breathed, surrendering to the gravity of my choice.
