Chapter 1 - Mighty Shake

''Max!''

A teacher yelled. He stood before the green board, staring hellishly at the back of the class. The other students promptly turned their heads, following the teacher's gaze. They all began to laugh, noticing Max slumped on his chair, his head tilted backward, sound asleep.

Max soundly slept close to the opened side window at the back of the class. The cold air blowing into the class from the window caused his deep sleep.

''Max!'' the teacher yelled again, his face twisted in anger.

Immediately after the teacher yelled, the sound of a chair hitting the floor echoed through the classroom, and every eye was quickly drawn to the direction of the sound. The class instantly erupted with laughter.

Upon hearing his name, Max was jolted awake. He quickly stood up with a powerful force knocking down his chair. Max was still in a daze, and unaware of his surroundings raised his right arm as if to ask a question.

His action caused the class to erupt into another wave of laughter, which fully awoke Max.

He slowly dropped his raised hands before picking his chair from the floor and placing it back in its formal position. He quietly sat down, avoiding eye contact with anybody.

'' if you sleep again in my class, you will kindly be sent to the principal's office'' the teacher softly said with a frown. Max nodded in agreement before the teacher went back to teaching.

''Fuck!!!'' Max thought, He slowly moved his gaze from the teacher to the outside. '' Why did I think having 3 side jobs would be a good idea'' Max let out a heavy sigh.

Over the weekend, Max took up many side jobs, he badly needed the money and couldn't ask his parent for various reasons. His thought process was that of a simpleton when applying for these side jobs, he thought it would be easy and quick, but to his horror, he faced the harsh reality of the real world.

Working nonstop from one job to the other, he felt his body physically break from sheer exhaustion. There were no words to describe the pain he went through.

Only the willpower of his mind gave him the strength to leave his bed for school, after all, the reason he needed the money so badly was because of school.

''Max, Max ''

Max heard a familiar voice; he turned to face the direction of the voice.

'' Are the plans for tonight still on''.

Max stared at his classmate with a smile, as he was about to answer he noticed other students glancing at him.

''Fuck, why did I make such a stupid promise''. Max thought with anger, his head ached from the terrible decision he made in the past.

'' Why wouldn't they be'' Max answered with a smirk.

The others glancing at him quickly smiled before glancing away from him.

''Fuck!!!, Fuck!!!!, why would I make such a stupid promise'' Max thought as he faced the window once more, a frown visibly formed on his face as he did so.

The cold winds outside were once again about to put Max into a deep sleep. He began fighting against it, but his body was too weak to resist.

''BOOM!!!......BOOM!!!!''

There was a loud crashing and exploding sound that could be heard from the outside, it instantly sent the class into chaos. John quickly fought the sleep to look outside the window.

He saw no fiery scene or cars crushed together that he was expecting to see, but he noticed the people outside looking up.

He was about to look up at the sky to find out what the people on the street were gazing at when he noticed his pen was about to roll off his table. He promptly stopped the pen from falling off the table, as he was about to look out the window again he felt the table tremble.

Before his brain could process what was happening, the little tremble turned into a mighty shake.

The class was sent into another chaos and panic mode. The teacher quickly ordered the students to remain calm, although he didn't exactly look calm.

Max felt every bone in his body shake violently along with the whole school, he slowly moved away from the window scared the glass would shatter, harming him in the process.

The moment he did so, every window shattered with a loud cracking sound like thunder on a rainy day. The class was now an uncontrollable mess; many students were injured by the flying glass fragments. The screams and tears of pain now drown out the sound of the school building quaking.

Max stood at the back just thankful he stood up when he did so.

Just as the shaking began, it abruptly ended. The students' cries and pain were amplified with the quake now over. The teacher now calmed, ordered for the injured students to be taken to the nurse's office.

'' Hopefully, this doesn't spoil the plans for today'' Max thought as he looked at the messy state the class was in, '' I worked so hard for the plans to be canceled'' He let out a heavy sigh in frustration.

Max's eyes wandered back to the broken window, he remembered he was curious about a group of people on the street before all the chaos happened. He carefully made his way to the window avoiding the sharp glass comfortably lying on the floor.

Once he began peering out the window, he quickly smacked himself on the head, for expecting anyone to still be standing there after what had just happened. He let out a sigh and turned his head to the side to find something interesting to watch.

Max was scanning the area when he noticed people moving towards the school, he thought nothing of this until they got closer. He froze solid when he realized something odd about the people moving closer to the school '' why do they….. have green skin?!''.

Immediately after the words left Max's mouth there was a loud, painful, and horrific shriek that reverberated throughout the whole school. Every human who heard the sound covered their ears in pain and discomfort. The students in the class had a look of horror and confusion, there was no panic due to the lack of information.

Max instantly moved away from the window, his heart pounding so violently he felt it was going to pop out. As his greyish-green eyes narrowed in fear, he took multiple steps back again.

'' Max'' A friend of his called out, he looked as confused and scared as everyone in the class did '' What's wrong, what's outside?'' He asked curiously yet worried about the answer Max would give.

Max stopped to look at his friend with a mortified look, with a shaking hand he pointed to the window '' There are…. people with green skin…. approaching the school''.

His friend looked at him with an emotionless expression, he didn't exactly know what emotion to display after such information.

Max didn't care about what his friend thought of the information; he just felt an intense fear concerning all the events he had witnessed. There was nothing normal about the sequence of events. He took one more glance at the window before deciding to leave the classroom, as soon as he did, every cell in his body screamed '' DANGER''.

Max instinctively jumped further away from the window, the instant he did, an object flew into the class landing with a mighty roar at the previous site Max was standing in. The class was sent into another frenzy.

After calming his shaking nerves, Max took a look at the object that came flying into the class. It was a smooth white object the size of a human head, once Max saw the size, he felt pure terra knowing he would be dead if he did not jump.

''I can't stay here any longer '' Max began making his way out of the class when ''boom!!!bang!!!boom!!!''. Multiple white objects the size of a human head came crashing into the class.

Chairs, tables, and humans nothing was spared during the endless bombardment. Some students screamed in pain and terror, others froze in place unable to move while the remaining stormed out with the little willpower they had.

Max didn't dare move, fear gripped him tightly making his whole body go numb. He turned left and right and noticed the other class going through the same thing. He stood outside the class, his back firmly placed against the wall, avoiding the carnage occurring.

They were on the upper floor of a two-story building, which was only accessible to third-year students. Max's mind went blank when he realized they were on the top floor of the school building. This meant that whoever was throwing the white object at them could not be human. His heart sank just imagining those green-skinned people he saw.

After a minute, there was nothing but silence. The attacks had seized with a silent wave following afterward.
