PAGE 1
Setting: Outside in what appears to be an abandoned neighborhood. Devlon and Jasmine stand next to each other in the middle of the pothole-filled street. Across from them stand the two faceless with trench coats.
Jasmine: "Well, at least they were kind enough to follow us away from the restaurant."
Devlon: "Kind? We led them this way, knowing they'd follow us. They're after irregulars, remember?"
Jasmine: "Oh. Mind my sarcasm." Dummy.
With his guard up, Devlon quickly glances at his surroundings, mostly the street.
Devlon: "Man, the city's got work to do with all these holes."
Jasmine: "In a lower income area? Don't hold your breath. You've got a lot to learn, Devie. But for now…"
Close up of the two faceless.
Jasmine: "Let's have a little fun with these two."
The two faceless throw their coats off, wearing nothing underneath. Jasmine folds her arms.
Jasmine: "Makin' a lot of assumptions, here. You haven't even taken me out to eat, yet. That reminds me…"
PAGE 2
Without warning, Jasmine charges at the faceless creatures.
Jasmine: "You guys interrupted me before I could even take a bite!"
Devlon: "Hold up!"
Jasmine punches one of the faceless in the face. The 2nd faceless next to them seems to be taken by surprise.
Jasmine: "This'll be over soon if you can't even dodge a punch!"
Jasmine turns around and elbows the other faceless in the…face.
Devlon: "Jazz! Be careful!"
Jasmine: "No worries. These guys are-"
As Jasmine's elbow drives into the faceless, her arm begins to sink into the faceless.
Jasmine: "Huh?"
PAGE 3
Devlon dashes towards Jasmine with haste, pulling out his sword handle.
Devlon: "Shoot. Always so quick to jump into action." That's so reckless, Jasmine!
His greenish energy blade emerges from the handle.
Jasmine stands there with the faceless, trying to tug her arm away from the faceless.
Jasmine: "Ugh. You gonna let me go?"
Suddenly, Devlon zips past Jasmine, slashing the faceless's head off.
Devlon: "You gotta be careful with these guys. It seems like they can grab you with any part of the body."
PAGE 4
*FLASHBACK* Devlon flashes back to when he was in Wendy's apartment. Back when he was fighting the faceless for the first time, he tried stabbing the adversary. The flashback displays the faceless's body oozing over Devlon's hand just enough to grab hold of him.
Devlon: "Back then, its body turned liquidy and…goopie."
*END OF FLASHBACK*
Back to the present. The two stand over the headless faceless. The other faceless that was punched by Jasmine lies on the ground, motionless.
Devlon: "It's got some freaky ability. I doubt it's dead."
Jasmine: "Hope not. That wasn't fun at all."
The severed head of the faceless stretches until it reaches its body, merging with it. The other faceless stands back up.
Devlon: "Round two."
The two faceless come running at Devlon and Jasmine.
PAGE 5
Devlon steps in front of Jasmine, slashing one of the faceless. But the faceless ignore Devlon and continue their run towards Jasmine.
The faceless jump at Jasmine, but just gives off a smirk.
Jasmine: "Nope."
Before they could land an attack, Jasmine's hair extends with a hardened icy texture, puncturing them both. Arms crossed, Jasmine stands there with a bored expression with a punctured faceless on each side.
Jasmine: "Try again."
She shakes her head side to side, causing the motionless faceless to flail around.
Jasmine: "Guess they weren't much of a threat, huh?"
Devlon: "Don't let your guard down!"
Close up on one of the faceless' hands moving. They're still alive!
PAGE 6
Devlon hastily zips in and kicks one of the faceless out of Jasmine's spiky hair.
Devlon: "They don't die so easily!"
Devlon turns to Jasmine, eyes widened.
Devlon: Wait… that's it! "Jazz. Freeze it! They don't seem to recover well after being frozen."
Intrigued, Jasmine raises a brow.
Jasmine: "Oh, I see. So they won't go down without me, huh? Tell me how much you need me."
Devlon: "Not now, Jazz!"
The other faceless that's still stuck in Jasmine's hair pulls free, then extends its arm to strike the off guard Jasmine.
Devlon kicks it into the ground. Though Jasmine doesn't even bat an eye.
Devlon: "Will you at least try to dodge?"
Jasmine: "Why? I know you've got my back."
Jasmine walks over to the faceless Devlon just kicked into the ground. Reminder, the first faceless Devlon kicked away was kicked to a farther distance.
Jasmine: "Fine. I'll start with this one, since you kicked the other guy pretty far."
PAGE 7
The grounded faceless quickly sharpens its hand and scratches its arm, piercing Jasmine through the torso.
However, a 2nd Jasmine is seen dodging to the side, smirking. Turns out, the Jasmine that was stabbed was an ice replica of herself, which shattered on impact.
Jasmine: "Nope. Nice try, though."
Jasmine breaks off a piece of ice from her hair, continuing to walk towards the grounded faceless with her ice pick.
Jasmine: "I have a snack for you, but you don't seem to have a face. Let's fix that."
With a cynical smile, Jasmine grabs the faceless and begins digging her pick into the faceless.
Jasmine: "Alright. This makeover is on the fly, but I think I got it."
A close up on the faceless reveals that Jasmine punched two holes in for eyes, and carved out a line for the mouth, which now looks like a poorly drawn emoji with a surprised expression.
Jasmine: "There ya go. Aren't you just adorable?"
Holding the faceless's chin, she forms a small ball of ice, then shoves it into the faceless's new mouth.
Jasmine: "You're so hostile. I suggest a chill pill."
PAGE 8
The faceless's body starts to freeze from the inside. In just moments, it's completely frozen.
Devlon wastes no time and delivers a powerful punch to the faceless, smashing and shattering its frozen body.
Jasmine: "Oh, way to kill the fun, Devie!" I wasn't done with him, yet.
Devlon: "There's still the other one. You can have more fun with that one." Quit messing around!
They both turn to see the other faceless at a distance, standing on a pothole.
Jasmine: "Oh yeah, I almost forgot about that one."
The faceless, about 12 feet away, stomps its foot into the ground. It stomps so hard, it seems to be stuck.
Jasmine: "Oh look, it's throwing a stomping tantrum!"
Devlon: "Well let's put it out of its misery."
Suddenly, about a foot in front of Devlon and Jasmine, the sharp and pointed limb of the faceless breaks out of the ground, extending towards Jasmine.
Devlon: "What the!"
PAGE 9
Close up on Devlon's face. He looks very shocked.
The faceless's sharpened limb had traveled through the ground. And when it emerged, it stabbed straight through Jasmine's chest. Jasmine stands there, taken by surprised.
Devlon: "J-Jazz?"
The faceless' pulls comes out of Jasmine's body and sinks back into the ground.
Jasmine falls to her knees. A close up on her mouth reveals her choking as she coughs up liquid.
Close up on Devlon's reaction to Jasmine's coughing. He's devastated.
Devlon: "No!"
PAGE 10
*FLASHBACK*
This flashback displays a close up on a girl's mouth. Blood rushes out of her mouth.
Devlon: "She's CHOKING! Somebody help!"
*END OF FLASHBACK*
Back to reality. Tears in his eyes, Devlon tightly grips his sword while giving the faceless the death stare.
Devlon: "Please tell me you're an organic creature with pain receptors."
The faceless appears to be taken by surprise. Even though he was at a distance away from Devlon and Jasmine, it doesn't have enough time to react to the infuriated Devlon standing behind it.
Devlon: "I want you to feel every moment."
Before the faceless could react, Devlon dices it into three pieces. A deep shadow is cast over Devlon's face. He almost looks evil.
Devlon: "Get up."
The three pieces of the faceless's body start to merge together again.
PAGE 11
Devlon angrily slashes the faceless into pieces again, then waits for its body to recover.
Devlon: "Get up."
Once recovered, the faceless leaps at Devlon, but is slashed down the middle.
Devlon: "Get up!"
PAGE 12
Devlon swings his blade against the faceless. The blade doesn't cut through. Instead, his energy blade burns a bright white color.
The bright white blade emits a bright light as it turns reddish orange.
Devlon: "You want an elemental death, I'll give you one!"
As Devlon slashes through the faceless, the faceless's bottom half burns to a crisp while the top half falls to the ground.
Devlon: "Please be organic, so you can suffer this fate repeatedly in the afterlife."
PAGE 13
Devlon turns to the top half of the faceless.
Devlon: "Next."
The faceless stretches his arm out to Devlon. But instead of it sharpening, it expands to wrap around Devlon's arms. Devlon appears to have let it happen, his body now wrapped by the faceless. He looks unimpressed.
Devlon: "If you think this'll hold me…" Huh?
As cocky as he's been, Devlon's caught off guard.
Devlon: Wha? What's happening?
Devlon's head lowers. His eyes reveal that he's starting to tire out. All of his adrenaline is gone. Still holding onto his sword, the energy blade shrinks down to half its length.
Devlon: Suddenly…
Devlon's energy blade completely disappears. Just moments later, he loses his grip and drops it.
Devlon: I feel…drained.
PAGE 14
Unfortunately, Devlon looks as if he's falling asleep.
Devlon: "N…no." What's happening? So tired.
The faceless gets closer, now that it has Devlon in its grasp. That is, until it notices ice forming on its arm.
Female voice: "Alright, I've seen enough here!"
Because it was so fixated on Devlon, the faceless didn't notice Jasmine, who'd placed a hand on its shoulder. The faceless's body starts to freeze over.
Jasmine: "Gotta give you the cold shoulder for pissing me off!"
Still holding on to Devlon, the faceless is now completely frozen.
Jasmine: "I was trying to win this battle with a flawless victory, but you just had to get a cheap shot in, huh?" Cheap shot, stabbing me in the chest like that!
Jasmine shoots water on Devlon's face.
Jasmine: "Wake up, Devie! I need that strength of yours to bust him up! Why're you just standing there?"
Devlon doesn't respond.
Jasmine kicks the faceless's frozen arm holding Devlon, shattering it to pieces. Devlon looks like he's coming to.
PAGE 15
Devlon gets up, stumbling with a hand on the side of his head.
Jasmine: "You good?"
Devlon turns and punches the frozen faceless, shattering it.
Devlon: "Yeah. Yeah, I'm good."
Jasmine: "Wanna tell me what that was about?"
Devlon looks down.
Jasmine: "I thought using Terry's move takes a lot out of you. You don't wanna overdo it, do ya?"
Devlon: "I know. I know. I just… when I saw you get stabbed, I-"
Jasmine: "You know an attack like that can't do me in! So what's up? You're losing your grip!"
Devlon: "I dunno. I just…I was taken back to that day."
Jasmine: "Hmm, so you're triggered by Wendy and stabs. Who knows what else?"
She closes her eyes and shakes her head.
Jasmine: "We can use a good talk when we get back. Like I said earlier; if you need something, we've got your back. But if this is too much, you gotta say something!"
PAGE 16
Devlon walks past Jasmine, totally dismissive of her comment. Jasmine's eyes follow him with a concerned look.
Devlon: "I'm good. Really. I'm strong enough to handle this on my own. I just need to adjust to these sudden changes. That's all."
Jasmine: "Strong enough? This isn't about strength or a lack thereof."
Devlon: "I'm good, Jazz. You don't have to worry. I hope I'm not triggering bad memories of your own."
Jasmine: "That's what you think this is?"
Jasmine leans in closer to Devlon, irritated.
Jasmine: "I'm recommending this because I love you, you idiot! I want to see you heal and thrive!"
Devlon: "And I will! I promise."
Devlon turns away from Jasmine and lets out a sigh.
Devlon: "I love you too. I know you're just looking out for me. But we gotta move. I have to inform the others about what went down."
Devlon and Jasmine take their leave from the scene. As they do, a mysterious persons walks up from a far distance.
Mysterious person.: "Welp, looks like I got more to report."
PAGE 17
Stone stands in the middle of the pothole-filled street in the abandoned neighborhood. He looks down at the battered road with his hands in his pocket.
Stone: Low income area, eh? "So this neighborhood wasn't evacuated. It was abandoned because of living conditions. Well, let's fix this up a bit."
Stone relaxes his shoulders, lets out a sigh, then plants his feet firmly to the ground.
The ground begins to shake and the earth in the potholes slowly rise. Before long, the holes are evened out.
Stone: "That'll do it."
He then pulls out a phone and dials a number.
Stone: "Hey. I've got some updates to catch you up on. How are things on your end?"
Close up on Jade as she responds to Stone on her phone.
Jade: "Things are quite interesting here. I'm gonna stick around."
PAGE 18
Scene change. Back to Jade's perspective.
Jade continues to speak on the phone as she's against a wall on the outside of a clothing store.
Jade: "I've connected the bots' eye cams to our network. You should be able to watch the show if you connect."
Jade peeks from the side of the wall and sees Wendy facing off against three military bots.
Jade: "This cop is more interesting than I thought."
Wendy rushes past two bots and punches the middle bot in the nose. The two other bots (one on each side of her) go in for the kill.
Wendy quickly twists her body for a spin, slightly opening her legs for her heel to come crashing down on the head of the bot to her left. The bot on her right receives the end of Wendy's other foot against its chin, sending it off its feet.
Wendy lands on her feet, raising her guard again as the bots get up.
Wendy: "Ugh, I forgot. I'm used to fighting actual humans." These bots are gonna take a lot more to go down.
Wendy pops her neck and raises her fists. She smiles as she prepares to take on the bots. It's as if she's enjoying herself.
Wendy: "Fine by me. That means I don't have to hold back so much."
PAGE 19
Scene change to the perspective of Iris and Chase. They're inside of the clothing store near Wendy, hiding in the middle of a cluster of hung up clothes.
Iris: "Why'd you pick this spot? I can't see anything."
Chase: "We're civilians, remember? Gotta act scared and hide. Besides, I can still see them through it all."
Iris: "Oh yeah! I forgot about that ability. How's it going out there?"
Chase focuses his eyes. From his perspective, his field of sight extends far beyond the clothes in front of him. He sees the wall of the store. Then, he sees through the wall.
Chase: "Let's see…"
Outside the wall, he sees Wendy elbowing a bot in the abdomen while simultaneously ducking its attack.
Chase: "Found her!"
The bot shakes it off and pulls out a gun. While she's handling that bot, two other bots are behind her.
Chase: "She's in the middle of three hostile bots!"
Iris: "We should help her!"
Chase: "Hold on. She's…"
Chase takes a closer look at Wendy and sees the excitement in her eyes.
Chase: "Enjoying herself?"
PAGE 20
Wendy quickly grabs the bot's arm and brings its arm around her shoulder, her back now against the bot. She's holding the bot's hand that occupies the gun, aiming at the other two bots.
Red beams fire out the gun, blasting the second bot while the third jumps out of the way.
Chase: "Woah! She just took out one of the military bots!"
The third bot (the one that jumped out of the way to avoid being shot by Wendy) takes aim and fires at her.
Without thinking, Wendy quickly makes a 180, forcing the bot she's holding to do the same. The bot covers her and takes all of the shots, serving as a meat shield.
Chase: "Make that two bots. She's really holding her own."
Iris: "GO NEW BIG SIS!"
PAGE 21
Transition to Jade's perspective. Jade still hides behind a wall, observing things through her phone, but she looks a little frustrated.
Jade: "Man. I didn't think she'd be this good. How can I draw out the irregular's power if she's taking care of them all? I might need to step in."
Jade's frustration quickly turns to light confusion.
Jade: "Huh? Who's that?"
She notices a man in a trench coat walking towards the clothing store where Wendy's fighting.
Jade: "Isn't he scared? Why isn't he running away?"
Shift to the perspective of the man in the trench coat. Hands in his pocket, he walks past Wendy's battle with the final military bot, seemingly uninterested.
The mysterious man walks into the clothing store and sees two pairs of feet from under a clutter of hung up clothes. It's Iris and Chase. The mysterious man is behind them, but they haven't noticed.
PAGE 22
The mysterious man draws closer to them, unbuttoning his coat and removing his hat. Removing the heavy clothing reveals that this man does not have a face. The faceless is only inches away from grabbing Iris and Chase.
