Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: A reflection?

What is a reflection?"

A dark void surrounded a young girl with jet dark hair. That previous sentence seemed to have come from her. In a moment's notice the young girl continues her spiel..

"If your reflection were to disappear what would happen?"

The young girl seemed to have grown as though time itself warped as she spoke those words. And again she continues.

"If the body were to be separated from the soul, would it cease to exist or live on?"

With that sentence coming to an end, the black void surrounding the girl seemed to shake. As though something was violently beating on its surface. In no more than a second white cracks began appearing all throughout the expanse. Until finally the dark world crumbled.

"Hey Seris, wake up!"

A familiar male voice resounded, as she began to regain consciousness. The world seemed as though it was spinning. her center of balance was off. And the young womans ears were ringing. It was though a bomb had just dropped right in front of her face

In a second a giant eruption of pain bursted in her abdomen. the familiar taste of blood began filling her mouth. In the span of 10 seconds she had been sent flying back and hit into a giant boulder off in the distance.

"Damn…"

She spat out spitefully. Finally regaining her composure, Seris looked up. Her jet black hair getting in the way. With little to no time left she simply let fall and cover her face. She then realized what was truly standing before her.

A mirror beast. An amalgamate. The beast stood at a towering 9 meters, its front and hind legs working in tandem to support itself. It was gorilla-like with hundreds if not thousands of glass shards protruding from its back. And empty lifeless reflective eyes. It was simple, really simple honestly. What the beast wanted. And it was almost surely going to get it. Not if Seris had a say in the matter however.

Looking down Seris stared at the piece of fractured mirror in her hands.

"Like hell! I'd rather die. Your gonna have to pluck them off my dead corpse."

Wasting precious time to let out that useless remark Seris began readying herself for the beasts next attack. Taking a good look at the beast for a second really put it into perspective. It was way too dreadful for any human to face much less actually engage in combat. And yet, here she was face to face with the abomination. Each of its giant palms would be enough to shatter boulders much less the human body.

'Its just a simple low tier beast. Nothing too special.'

She thought with a battered grin on her face.

The beast seemed to have stopped for a moment, but that was nothing but a facade. In reality the shards on the beast's back had begun glowing a vibrant hue of blue light. It seemed as though it was about to unleash something far worse than a simple punch.

Seris had already begun her counterattack. It was stupid really. A mundane human girl sprinting towards what could only be called certain death. And yet the surrounding forest seemed to glow an incandescent hue of blue making the morbid scene look almost surreal.

'Fine. You want the shards? You can have 'em.'

Seris pulled her hand back as far as she could, and threw the shards at the monster back.

Right before impact something happened. The shards Seris threw began to resonate alongside the ones on the monster.

Suddenly it shuddered as though it felt disturbed by the presence of the new shards on its back. Then in an instant the creature froze. Its once glowing back returned to its natural state. Except for the shards of mirror which were not native to the creature. In a moment a giant flash of blue light almost ignited the air. Sending everything flying backwards. Seris was holding onto a log for dear life.

What got it the worst was the monster. Its back had been almost completely eviscerated except for a couple of glass shards which remained near one of its three tails. In a matter of moments a transformation had begun. The monster was losing both its shape and form. It looked as if loads of purple sludge was just sliding off of the beast, it's very bone being exposed in the process. Then it shrunk. First it shrunk to half its current size, then a quarter. Then lastly the creature loss its shape entirely. Becoming something akin to a small monkey losing its extra tail and eventually all of its muscle mass.

'The once abominable beast was reduced to spec of its former glory. And yet…

The lifeless reflection in its eyes seemed to still be teeming with ferocious vigor.

In an instant it started its gallop towards the young girl.

' You've got to be kidding me!'

Seris was still holding on to the log as the not so giant creature approached. Seris got up. And started a mad dash towards the once abomination, it would be a matter of seconds before each of them collided. Seris was equipped with a sleek black tracksuit, it seems were a bit to long for her slim figure. Regardless they were perfect for concealing something. And that she did. As the two were about to collide Seris leaned downwards and pulled something from her pocket.

It was a double sided knife. The knife itself was no bigger than her hand and yet it radiated a sense of dread whenever it reflected another creature. It was though the knife was a mirror straight to ones soul. And currently this deadly instrument was projected directly at the beast.

In an instant Seris flipped the knife into a reverse grip and stabbed the monkey in his left arm.

Letting out an ear piercing shriek, the monster recoilled in pain. with every moment the knife seemed to be getting brighter and brighter its once reflective surface had now turned gold. And yet this was not enough to keep the beast down. It got up and tried to pull the incandescent knife out of his skin. But to no avail, it seemed as though it mad melded with him and was now one with the beast itself.

Seris was now behind the beast. She turned to face the little imp of a monkey and said.

"Now we can have a fair fight. Bastard!"
