It had been about 2 weeks since Koji's birth. And he hated every moment of it. Living as an infant was a struggle for someone like him.
'There is nothing I can do, no movement whatsoever.'
A baby his age had no way to move without a parent's help, and Koji didn't like the feeling of being in such a small body, it made him feel trapped, which was a feeling he liked even less than the darkness.
'Anyway, I need to figure out where exactly I am, but since it's not an English-speaking country, it's harder to find out. My best guess so far would be Japan, the natives of the land seem to speak a form of Japanese, at least I think.'
'My mother is with me most of the day, but she doesn't really speak to me much so it doesn't help with my understanding. The only times I really get to see long conversations is when her friends come over to see me, but when that happens my cheeks get pulled a lot.'
'From what I have gathered so far from the people and the structure of buildings and land around me, this looks to be a small town or village. The absence of cars and the clothing style of the people make me think so at least. Though I haven't been given the opportunity to go out much so I could be wrong.'
As Koji was deep in thought, a woman opened the door to his room and walked in. With black hair and eyes, and a full-sleeve turtleneck shirt and pants, Yuna Uchiha looked to be a woman in her early twenties.
"Oh Koji, looks like you're awake. Let's go for a walk, it's quite nice out." Yuna spoke as if Koji could understand her. Koji responded with a few giggles, and by flailing his arms around in the air. He appreciated her attempt to converse with him because it would help him understand the language a little better.
Soon, Yuna was carrying Koji in her arms and was walking down the streets of Konoha, and Koji was doing his best to observe everything around him. Information was knowledge and knowledge was power.
'As I thought, this just seems like a village. But luckily it looks to be a peaceful one and the people seem to be in decent living conditions, so there is a chance I ended up in a peaceful country.'
As he kept taking in the scenes of people around him, he noticed that most of the people he had seen had a symbol etched onto their clothing. The symbol was present in shops, signs, and even houses. It was a symbol of a paper fan with a mix of white and red. For some reason, Koji felt that the symbol was familiar, but he didn't know from where.
'Huh, that symbol is odd, maybe it's some cultural symbol or maybe just a symbol of the village.' As they kept walking through the streets, even more strange things started appearing in Koji's eyes. He noticed that some of the shops were selling knives, shuriken, kunai, swords, and a variety of other weapons.
'Maybe this village isn't as peaceful as I originally thought, these weapons are odd though.' As they passed by the shops, most of the villagers would greet Yuna. Some of them would even come to greet Koji, though he was afraid they would pinch his cheeks so he tried ignoring them.'
'The village sure seems quite friendly, life here may not be all that bad.'
"This is where the Uchiha Clan compound ends Koji, now we are going to go a little around the village and then we can head back." She said after giving him a kiss on the forehead. Although he couldn't understand what she was saying, he quickly noticed a difference in his surroundings.
'The people around me now don't have the same symbol on their clothing. This is probably a different area of the village. Interesting, does this mean that there are different groups in this village?'
After a bit more walking, Yuna stopped to buy some food from a nearby street vendor, however as she turned to the vendor, she gave Koji quite a shock.
'What the hell! That...that....that's the Hokage stone faces!'
It was far away, but there was no mistaking it, there were three massive faces carved onto the side of a mountain, the Hokage mountain no doubt.
'But this would mean that I was reborn into the world of Naruto... how the hell is that possible' Koji was in shock, he had never imagined that the anime he had watched during his high school years would be his new world.
'Then that symbol...that's the Uchiha symbol!' He finally remembered why it seemed so familiar, it was the symbol of the Uchiha clan, and the language here seemed familiar because they spoke something similar to Japanese.
As Koji finally gained a new understanding of the place he was born into, he calmed down a bit from his initial shock.
'Although this is quite a surprise, everything that happened after my death has been like this. From how I died, to the years I spent in that darkness, to being born with memories of my past life. All of this is unexpected, but this truly takes the cake, being born into a world which I didn't even know was real.'
Koji could accept being reborn with his memories, but he couldn't understand why or even how he was born into a different world, a world that he thought was fiction.
'Anyway, not like I could do much about this, I just have to accept the new reality. At least I know where I am now, and although I didn't know every single detail about Naruto, I knew the general direction of the plot. As long as this world is the same as the anime, I should have enough knowledge to navigate through it.'
Although Koji sounded positive, he couldn't help but shudder when thinking about the world of Shinobi, where people died gruesome deaths and lived short lives.
'Being born into the Uchiha clan can be both a blessing and a curse, since there are only three faces on the Hokage mountain, hopefully, I still have enough time before Itachi kills everyone.'
The more he thought about his fate, the more depressed he got.
'All that I can do now is try to grow up healthy anyway, as a child this young, I have nothing I can do to even prepare for this world, so I will continue my initial plan of trying to learn the language.'
Koji knew that he needed to prepare if he wanted to survive in this world, and he resolved himself to take the first step in that goal, by learning the language. Soon, Yuna finished eating and they headed back to their home in the compounds of the Uchiha Clan, which at this point in time was located near the center of the village. Yuna was surprised to see Koji wide awake, surveying everything around him, as if observing the world, and even thought he looked quite determined about something. But she quickly let those thoughts go since he was still just a two-week-old baby.
