Chapter 4 - Warm Welcome

INT. FROSTBITE AGENCY DORMATORY– NIGHT

Ruben lounges on the top bunk, casually swinging his legs as Shin stands near the window, gazing into the night.

RUBEN

(Playfully)

"Don't mind me asking, but why'd you join the Frostbite Agency? Someone like you... an assassin doesn't seem like the usual recruit."

Shin remains silent, his gaze distant, before he finally responds, his voice heavy with purpose.

SHIN

"There's something I need to take care of… regarding the Hybrids. Something personal."

Ruben raises an eyebrow, sensing the weight of Shin's words.

RUBEN

"Hmm. Sounds like Sugai got to you with one of his infamous speeches. The guy could sell water to a fish if it meant adding someone strong to the roster. You sure he didn't trick you?"

Shin glances at Ruben, his expression unchanging.

SHIN

"Even if he did… he made a good point. This agency gives me a chance to do something about the Hybrids. That's enough for now."

Ruben smirks and shrugs.

RUBEN

"Fair enough. Just don't let him talk you into anything too crazy."

Taryn walks into the room.

TARYN

"They're ready for you, Shin. The Maids are waiting."

Shin nods and follows Taryn to the door.

RUBEN

"Later, man. Don't let them cut off too much hair!"

INT. FROSTBITE AGENCY – MAIDS ROOMS

Shin enters a room filled with women wearing elegant masks, their blue uniforms adorned with the Frostbite Agency insignia. Without a word, they guide Shin to a luxurious bath, trim his hair, and dress him in new agency clothes. The uniform feels lighter, the fabric almost blending into his skin, as if made for battle.

Shin catches his reflection in the mirror—he barely recognizes himself. The fresh look contrasts with the turmoil brewing within.

INT. UNKNOWN LOCATION – HYBRID LAIR

In a dimly lit, eerie chamber, Evander, a menacing figure with an aura of authority, sits on a throne made of twisted roots and bones. Otto stands before him, visibly shaken.

EVANDER

"So, Otto… did you capture her?"

Otto hesitates, his fear palpable.

OTTO

"No, my lord. Her place was heavily guarded… by four Guardians."

EVANDER

"Is that so, surely you could've done something don't you think?, I mean that upgrade I gave you wasn't for nothing"

OTTO

"I know my Lord but they are C Tier Guardians, I would've nev.....

Evander's eyes narrow. Without warning, he slices through the air with a casual motion, sending a nearly invisible air slash that decapitates Otto. Otto's headless body stumbles, then regenerates again.

EVANDER

"Four Guardians, and you lost your nerve? Do you understand what happens to failures, Otto?, you gave up because they're just one tier higher than you"

Otto stammers, shaking his head as he kneels in terror.

OTTO

"No, my lord. I… I'll go back. I'll bring the girl, no matter the cost. I swear it."

EVANDER

"You better, cause if you don't, I am going to rip that ugly face of yours to shreads you here me"

OTTO

"Yes my Lord, excuse me"

Evander turns his back on Otto, his voice cold and final.

EVANDER

"Good. And while you're at it… the rest of you, go cause some chaos. Make sure the Guardians are too busy to interfere."

Several Hybrids nod, their monstrous forms slinking into the shadows, eager for bloodshed.

INT. FROSTBITE AGENCY – TRAINING AREA, LATE NIGHT

The stars hang high in the sky as Shin sits alone on the stairs near the training grounds, lost in thought. He clutches a small pendant, the only reminder of his sister. His expression is hard, but his eyes are soft with sorrow.

Allen approaches, hands in his pockets, his steps deliberate. He pauses next to Shin, looking up at the night sky.

ALLEN

"So… you're the type who doesn't sleep much, huh?"

Shin doesn't look at him, his tone neutral.

SHIN

"I'm not tired."

Allen smirks, taking a seat beside him.

ALLEN

"Didn't say you were."

They sit in silence for a moment, the night calm around them.

ALLEN

"Heard you ran into a Hybrid today. Tough fight?"

SHIN

"It was… challenging. Maybe because I don't have what you guys have—Aura, or whatever you call it."

Allen studies Shin, his expression unreadable.

ALLEN

"The masters say only Aura can kill a Hybrid. So how'd you do it?"

Shin shrugs, avoiding Allen's gaze.

SHIN

"I don't know. I just did."

Allen narrows his eyes. Without warning, he grabs Shin by the collar and hurls him onto the training field below. Shin lands on his feet, glaring up at Allen.

SHIN

"What the hell is your problem?"

Allen jumps down, landing in front of Shin with a thud, his Aura flaring briefly.

ALLEN

"You joined the agency, but it feels like won't open up. We're supposed to be Guardians. We fight Hybrids because we want to protect people. We don't let our personal baggage hold us back."

Shin clenches his fists, his body tense.

SHIN

"What do you know about me?"

Allen rushes Shin, throwing a punch. Shin blocks it, countering with a swift jab to Allen's jaw. They trade blows, neither giving an inch. Allen's strength is formidable, but Shin's precision and speed keep him in the fight.

Finally, they separate, both breathing heavily. Allen points his fingers at Shin, a blue Aura forming a radiant ball at his fingertips.

ALLEN

"I'll ask one last time. Why are you here, Umbronite? What are you really after?"

Shin's expression hardens as memories of his sister flood back. He lowers his guard, his voice low but firm.

SHIN

"I want to save my sister. The Hybrids took her from me years ago. Sugai said she might still be alive… That's why I'm here."

Allen's Aura dissipates. He stares at Shin for a moment, then nods, his voice softening.

ALLEN

"It's late. Get some sleep. You'll need it."

Shin watches as Allen walks away, his heart heavy with the weight of his mission. The night air feels colder now, but he doesn't move. Instead, he looks up at the stars, silently vowing to achieve his goal, no matter the cost.
