Chapter 16 - Life Gallery 16 - Weapons and Powers

Scene: Tensions Spread – Sculpting Club

INT. ST. ALARIC ACADEMY – SCULPTING CLUB ROOM – LATE AFTERNOON

The sculpting club room is warm, bathed in soft afternoon light filtering through large windows. Various clay sculptures—some finished, others still works-in-progress—are scattered across the room. The soft hum of students working on their pieces fills the air, along with the smell of wet clay.

Elena Vark, a short, slender girl with vibrant blue hair from the Superpower Branch, stands at a table in the corner, carefully using her wind manipulation abilities to shape a beautiful clay pot. The soft currents of air twist delicately around the clay, molding it with expert precision. As she finishes, she steps back, admiring the piece with a satisfied smile.

Professor Linden walks over, his hands covered in clay, and gives Elena an approving nod.

Professor Linden (cheerful) "Excellent work, Elena. The way you've used your wind powers to create such delicate patterns—truly impressive."

Elena beams, but the atmosphere in the room shifts as several Academic Branch students glance at her piece, their expressions hardening.

Aria Thatcher, a tall, sharp-eyed girl from the Academic Branch, crosses her arms and approaches the table, her voice dripping with disdain.

Aria (skeptical) "Impressive? Really? Using superpowers in sculpting is nothing more than a shortcut. It's an insult to the art itself."

The other Academic students murmur in agreement. Elena's smile fades as she turns to face them, her eyes narrowing.

Elena (defensive) "Shortcut? I've trained just as hard to master my powers for this! Sculpting with wind control takes as much skill as shaping it by hand."

Another student, Ren, leans against a nearby table, shaking his head with a smirk.

Ren (mocking) "Please. Art is about craftsmanship, about connection with the material. You're just letting your powers do all the work for you."

Elena's frustration bubbles over. She steps closer, her voice rising.

Elena (heated) "You say that, but what about the magic items your Academic Branch students use to recreate our superpowers?"

The room goes silent, tension thickening as the two sides glare at each other. Aria's expression hardens further, her posture stiffening.

Aria (scoffing) "Those magic items aren't the same, and you know it. It's not like it is your birthright to use that wind power."

Elena's hands ball into fists, her heart racing. Her wind manipulation flickers around her, brushing the edges of the clay pot as if responding to her emotions.

Elena (furious) "How can you say that? Just because my powers are part of who I am doesn't mean it's easy! I've spent years training to control my wind down to the finest detail. That is my skill."

Ren steps forward, his eyes narrowing as he throws another jab.

Ren (smirking) "Oh, really? How hard is using something you got when you were born? And you use it to create things you call 'art'?"

Elena's face flushes with frustration, but before she can respond, Professor Linden raises his hand, stepping between them.

Professor Linden (calm but firm) "Enough. Art is not about division. It's about expression. Whether you use your hands, magic, or powers—what matters is the dedication and creativity behind it."

He glances between the Academic students and Elena, his gaze sharp.

Professor Linden (warning) "If this is how we're going to treat one another, perhaps we need to rethink what it means to be part of this club. The goal here is to grow as artists, not tear each other down."

Elena, still fuming, takes a deep breath, her wind calming as she steps back from the confrontation. The Academic students exchange glances but remain silent, their disagreement hanging in the air.

As the room returns to a quieter atmosphere, Elena mutters under her breath.

Elena (to herself, bitterly) "They think they're the only ones who work hard…"

Scene: Tensions Spread – Aikido Club

INT. ST. ALARIC ACADEMY – AIKIDO DOJO – LATE AFTERNOON

The Aikido Dojo hums with the sound of training. Soft thuds echo as students practice throws and techniques on the mats, their movements focused but serene. The walls are lined with wooden panels, creating an air of tradition and discipline. Students from both the Superpower Branch and the Academic Branch practice side by side, though the tension between them is palpable.

In the center of the dojo, Caius Dray, a tall, muscular student from the Superpower Branch, is engaged in a sparring match. His partner, an Academic Branch student, struggles to match Caius's raw strength as he overpowers him and slams him down onto the mat with a forceful grip. Caius steps back, satisfied with his display of power.

Instructor Leonidas, a stern yet calm teacher with sharp eyes, watches closely. He steps forward, his voice cutting through the dojo.

Leonidas (firm, disappointed) "Caius, what have I told you? Aikido is not about strength. It's about balance, technique, and control. You're relying too much on your physical power. That's not the point of this art."

Caius frowns, clearly not understanding the critique. He folds his arms, his posture defensive.

Caius (defensive) "But I won. I overpowered him."

Leonidas (shaking his head, voice steady) "Winning by force doesn't mean you've mastered the technique. It takes more skill to neutralize your opponent without relying on raw strength. You're missing the essence of Aikido."

As Leonidas continues, several Academic Branch students on the edge of the mat exchange knowing glances. One of them, Milo, a slim student with sharp features, smirks and leans toward his friend Estelle, who is watching with a disdainful look.

Milo (snickering) "Of course he doesn't get it. What else do you expect from the Superpower Branch? Always smashing things without thinking."

Estelle chuckles quietly, her eyes narrowing.

Estelle (mocking) "Strength is all they have. No grace, no finesse. Just apes with superpowers."

A few more students from the Academic Branch snicker, their arrogance palpable. They look down at the Superpower students with barely disguised contempt. Caius hears their whispers and his face hardens, his jaw tightening as he tries to keep his temper in check.

Caius (gritting his teeth, muttering) "Just because they think they're rich and smart…"

One of the Academic Branch students, Derek, steps forward, his voice loud enough to be heard across the dojo, his smirk unshakable.

Derek (smirking) "Maybe if you stopped relying on those superpowers, you'd actually learn something. But I guess that's expecting too much from your kind."

Caius's fists clench, anger flashing in his eyes. He takes a step forward, clearly ready to confront Derek, but Leonidas quickly moves between them, his presence commanding respect.

Leonidas (cool, commanding) "Enough."

The dojo falls quiet, but the tension is palpable, thick in the air. Leonidas turns to the Academic students, his gaze hardening.

Leonidas (calm but with an edge) "This dojo is a place of respect. If you have time to mock, then you have time to learn. Aikido teaches humility, and right now, none of you are showing any."

Caius, still fuming, steps forward, unable to hold back his frustration.

Caius (gritting his teeth) "I don't see why I need to hold back just to make them happy. Why should I not use my strength when it's part of who I am?"

Derek rolls his eyes but steps back, the smug expression never leaving his face. The other Academic Branch students share a quiet laugh, their disdain for the Superpower Branch evident.

Caius (bitterly, voice low) "You all think you're so much better than us just because your parents pay for everything, and you got in with your fancy scores. You act like we're beneath you."

Derek laughs again, unbothered by Caius's words.

Derek (mocking) "Well, aren't you? You only got into this academy because you were born with powers. That's not skill—that's luck. We had to earn our place here with intelligence and hard work, not by throwing people around."

Caius takes another step forward, anger boiling under his skin.

Caius (snapping) "And what about those gadgets your Academic Branch is so proud of now? You think you're better than us because you're rich enough to buy GGG's latest toys to copy what we do? What's the difference between your gear and my powers?"

The dojo falls silent for a moment, the tension between the two sides thickening. Derek's smirk falters briefly, but he recovers quickly, his voice dripping with arrogance.

Derek (smirking, condescending) "Those gadgets are a product of innovation—something your branch could never understand. We're shaping the future, while you're stuck relying on what you were born with. The difference is we're using our minds."

More snickers ripple through the Academic students, their superiority complex on full display. Leonidas steps in again, his patience thinning.

Leonidas (authoritative) "That's enough from both of you. This dojo is not a place for petty rivalry. Whether you come from the Superpower Branch or the Academic Branch, the purpose here is to learn control, discipline, and respect."

His gaze sweeps across the room, settling on both groups.

Leonidas (serious, commanding) "If this is how you're going to treat each other, then perhaps you're in the wrong place. Power and wealth mean nothing without control—and right now, neither side is showing any."

The room goes quiet, but the tension still lingers in the air. Caius glances at his hands, still fuming, but Leonidas's words weigh on him. He knows he's letting his anger get the best of him, but it's hard not to react when the Academic students look down on them so openly.

Leonidas (quiet, but firm) "Caius, you're better than this. Control your strength, or it will control you. That's the lesson of Aikido—and it applies to both power and pride."

Caius nods reluctantly, stepping back as Leonidas returns to the front of the dojo. The Academic Branch students, still smirking, fall silent as well, though their smugness remains.

As the lesson continues, the divide between the Superpower Branch and the Academic Branch grows even deeper, with both sides holding tightly to their pride.

Scene: Whispers in the Superpower Branch

INT. ST. ALARIC ACADEMY – SUPERPOWER BRANCH CLASSROOM – MORNING

The Superpower Branch classroom hums with a tense energy, the air thick with whispers and sideways glances. Kenjiro Matsuda and Ryuto Yamada sit at their desks, silent and brooding, as their peers gather in small groups, gossiping about the recent humiliations the two have faced at the hands of the Academic Branch.

The room is split, with students reacting in different ways. Some express frustration and anger, while others mock the two for their defeat.

In one corner, a group of weaker students huddle together, their faces pale as they vent their frustration. Among them is Kaelen Moretti, a slender boy with pale blond hair, his eyes filled with bitterness. His voice is low but laced with anger.

Kaelen Moretti (furious, quiet) "It's not right. The Academic Branch thinks they can just buy everything, even superpower, because they're rich. They don't fight for anything—they just sit back while their parents throw money at the academy."

Next to him, Arabelle Fairwater, a girl with dark eyes and a sharp voice, nods, her frustration mirroring his.

Arabelle Fairwater (bitter, whispering) "Exactly. They think that because they've got money and fancy gadgets, they can replace us. We're the ones risking our lives out there in the field—not them."

Niko Tavaris, a tall, lanky boy with tousled auburn hair, adds to the conversation, his voice rising slightly with emotion.

Niko Tavaris (nodding, voice tense) "They're trying to push us out, little by little. Hoarding the best gears, the best tech. Now they have those gadgets, and they think they don't need us. Just because they're born into wealth, they think they can replace us."

Their words carry through the classroom, and more students begin to nod in agreement. A rising sense of resentment and injustice spreads through the younger and less powerful members of the Superpower Branch, fueling their anger toward the Academic Branch.

On the other side of the room, a group of stronger, more experienced students listen in, but their attitude is markedly different. At the center of this group sits Severin Ashford, a tall, stoic figure with short-cropped silver hair, his piercing eyes full of silent judgment. He leans back in his chair, his voice dripping with disdain.

Severin Ashford (scoffing) "Losing to a bunch of rich kids with gadgets? Pathetic. If they'd trained harder, they wouldn't have lost. Relying on their powers alone isn't enough—they're too soft."

Beside him, Reina Calder, a girl with fierce amber eyes and long, fiery red hair tied back, smirks coldly.

Reina Calder (mocking, calm) "Kenjiro and Ryuto thought their powers were enough. Turns out a few rich nerds with tech can take them down. Maybe they aren't as tough as they think."

Their words sting as they carry across the room, with several other stronger students nodding in agreement. Kenjiro's fists tighten at his sides, his eyes staring straight ahead as the insults hit home. Ryuto, sitting beside him, grits his teeth in frustration.

Kenjiro (voice low, seething) "They think this is a joke. They think we're weak."

At the far edge of the room, another group of students huddle together, but their conversation takes a different turn. These students, intrigued by the idea of gaining an edge, discuss risking their lives to obtain rare gear from dungeon raids. Jaxon Varro, a broad-shouldered boy with a wild shock of black hair, speaks eagerly, his eyes gleaming with ambition.

Jaxon Varro (excited, whispering) "I heard there's a gate open near the southern cliffs, being watched by the Dusk Exit. If we slip in, we could grab some serious gear. Imagine bringing back something that could rival what the Academic Branch has."

His excitement spreads through the group, as Briona Silversun, a quiet but sharp-eyed girl with silver hair, speaks up, her voice more cautious but just as intrigued.

Briona Silversun (thoughtful, voice low) "But isn't it dangerous? I mean, none of us has any experience in going to a dungeon yet. One wrong move, and we're dead."

Jaxon shrugs, unfazed by the warning, his mind already set on the potential rewards.

Jaxon Varro (grinning) "We're hunters. We'll have to raid dungeons eventually. If we want to stay ahead of the Academic Branch, we can't sit back and wait for the academy to hand us gear. We have to earn it."

More students begin to murmur, the reckless ambition spreading. The idea of risking everything for better gears becomes more appealing to some, especially those feeling cornered by the Academic Branch's rise in power.

Kenjiro and Ryuto, listening to the chaos around them, feel their anger deepening. The room is filled with whispers—those who see them as weak, those who blame the Academic Branch for hoarding power, and those willing to risk their lives for a chance at better gear.

Kenjiro (voice low, trembling with anger) "They think we're finished. That we can't handle a few rich kids with gadgets."

Ryuto (gritting his teeth, angry) "They're making a fool out of us. Like we're just stepping stones for the Academic Branch to climb over."

Kenjiro clenches his fists, his knuckles white. The tension, the mockery, and the resentment are pushing him to the edge. He knows this isn't over. It can't be.

Kenjiro (quiet, darkly determined) "We'll show them. We'll show them all."

Ryuto nods, equally furious, his gaze dark with the promise of retaliation.

Ryuto (low, dangerous) "We're not going to let them get away with this. They think they've beaten us? Let's see how they feel when we hit back."

As the whispers continue to swirl around them, Kenjiro and Ryuto sit in silence, their anger growing with each passing second. The resentment in the room only feeds their determination.

Scene: Debrief in Class – Magic Weapons/GGG

INT. ST. ALARIC ACADEMY – SUPERPOWER BRANCH CLASSROOM – MORNING

The classroom buzzes with quiet anticipation as students take their seats, eager for today's lesson. The walls are lined with charts depicting various magical theories and ancient weapons, each diagram meticulously detailing the flow of mana within enchanted items.

At the front of the room, Mrs. Mühlhausen, a stout dwarf with graying braids and a pair of rugged, calloused hands, stands next to a large, metal table covered with magical weapons and smithing tools. Her short stature and gruff demeanor do nothing to diminish the air of authority she commands in the room. She adjusts her apron and lifts a hammer, lightly tapping a glowing sword lying on the table.

Mrs. Mühlhausen (booming, but warm) "Alright, settle down! Today we're diving into the heart of magic weaponry—the structure that makes these tools more than just lumps of metal."

She picks up a sword and holds it high for the class to see. Its blade gleams in the morning light, etched with glowing lines of mana circuits.

Mrs. Mühlhausen (continuing, explaining) "A weapon like this isn't just steel. It's alive—well, in its own way. Just like you and me, it has veins, a heart, and a brain. Each part of the weapon serves a purpose. Let me break it down."

She places the sword back on the table and picks up a small enchanted hammer, tapping the weapon's hilt.

Mrs. Mühlhausen (instructive) "The heart of any magic weapon is the magic gem. It's what drives the mana flow throughout the weapon. Think of it like the heart in your own body—pumping life through the veins. These veins, or what we call mana circuits, are etched throughout the weapon's structure. They guide the flow of mana, just like blood flows through your veins."

She taps the sword again, this time running her finger along the glowing, intricate patterns etched into the blade.

Mrs. Mühlhausen (proudly, with a sense of wonder) "The mana circuits—these are the lifeblood of the weapon. They carry the power that fuels the weapon's magic, and if the circuits are damaged or broken, the weapon can't function. These circuits are the most delicate part of a weapon, and smiths must craft them with precision."

The students lean in, clearly fascinated. Severin Ashford, his usual stoic expression replaced with genuine interest, raises his hand.

Severin Ashford (intrigued) "So, the circuits are like veins in our bodies. What about the rest of the weapon? The metal?"

Mrs. Mühlhausen nods, her eyes twinkling as she picks up another piece of metal—a broad blade with the same glowing circuits, but unfinished.

Mrs. Mühlhausen (nodding) "Good question, lad! The metal itself is the flesh and skin. It provides protection, strength, and stability for the mana circuits inside. The stronger the metal, the more it can handle powerful flows of mana without breaking. But! Even with the best metals, if the circuits inside aren't perfectly aligned, the weapon is useless."

She holds the blade up for everyone to see, the dull metal reflecting the light.

Mrs. Mühlhausen (gruff, but proud) "And then there's the user—you lot. You're the brain. Without a skilled user to channel their mana, this weapon is just a hunk of metal. The user's mana flows through the circuits, syncing with the heart of the weapon, completing the bond between weapon and wielder."

In the back, Niko Tavaris raises his hand, his voice filled with curiosity.

Niko Tavaris (curious) "Professor, what about the weapons from GGG Corporation? Do they make them this way?"

A ripple of interest spreads through the room as the mention of GGG Corporation brings everyone's attention back to the front. Mrs. Mühlhausen's expression hardens slightly, and she crosses her arms, clearly thoughtful.

Mrs. Mühlhausen (gruff, but measured) "Aye, they do... in their own way. But it's not the same."

The class watches intently as Mrs. Mühlhausen explains.

Mrs. Mühlhausen (gruff, serious) "The Gentoshi family and their Gold Gigant Garment corporation have perfected the art of mass-producing magic weapons. They use quantum technology to replicate mana circuits. Rather than forge each weapon by hand, they've figured out how to copy these circuits, like you'd print a document."

Her tone turns somber as she continues.

Mrs. Mühlhausen (firm, but slightly bitter) "Though their weapons aren't weak by any means... I think their method lacks the soul of the craft. They can't replicate what we, true smiths, pour into our creations. For instance, despite all their advancements, they've never been able to duplicate the works of Master Balor."

At the mention of Balor, a collective gasp ripples through the room. Some students lean forward, eyes wide with awe.

In the back, Hugo Gentoshi, who has been quietly observing the lesson, leans over to his friends, whispering.

Hugo (whispering, curious) "Hey, who's Balor?"

Fenix Tepes, sipping from his blood bag, raises an eyebrow, clearly surprised at the question.

Fenix (surprised) "Huh? You don't know him?"

Before Hugo can respond, Shizuka Maidono chimes in, her voice calm but reverent.

Shizuka Maidono (speaking softly, in awe) "Balor is a living legend—the greatest blacksmith alive. He's the only one in the world who can create S-ranked magic equipment. Before Balor, everyone thought A-ranked magic equipment and higher could only be found in dungeons. But he proved us wrong."

Hugo's eyes widen in surprise as Fenix continues, his tone more conspiratorial.

Fenix (grinning) "I heard that every time GGG Corporation tries to copy one of his S-ranked weapons, they fail. They might replicate the mana circuits perfectly, but the copy never holds the original's power. They just can't get it right."

Hugo leans back, clearly impressed, as he mulls over the significance of what Fenix and Shizuka just told him.

At the front of the classroom, Mrs. Mühlhausen nods in agreement, overhearing the whispers.

Mrs. Mühlhausen (gruff, proud) "Aye, what your friends are saying is true. Master Balor forges every weapon like a parent creating life. He pours part of his soul into each creation, and no machine can replicate that. The GGG Corporation tries—oh, they try—but despite copying the mana circuits of his S-ranked weapons perfectly, the replicas never have the same power. They can't hold the enchantment, not the way Balor's do."

The students sit in silence for a moment, digesting this information. Mrs. Mühlhausen sighs, her tone turning slightly bitter but resigned.

Scene: Curiosity of Weapons

INT. ST. ALARIC ACADEMY – SUPERPOWER BRANCH CLASSROOM – LUNCHTIME

Shizuka Maidono, Fenix Tepes, and Hugo Gentoshi prepared to get out of class for lunch. The earlier lesson on magic weapons still lingers in their thoughts, but they're mostly eager for a break.

As they reach the doors, a group of classmates approaches, blocking their path. Among them are Severin Ashford, Niko Tavaris, Briona Silversun, and Kaelen Moretti. The group looks determined, their gazes shifting between Shizuka and Hugo.

Niko Tavaris (earnest, excited) "Hey, Shizuka, can we ask you something? You're... well, the strongest first-year student and we wanted to get your opinion."

Shizuka raises an eyebrow, slightly surprised but intrigued.

Shizuka (polite, but curious) "Sure, what's up?"

Kaelen Moretti steps forward, glancing briefly at Hugo before looking back to Shizuka.

Kaelen Moretti (excited, respectful) "We were just wondering what you think about weapons—where's the best place to get one?"

Shizuka pauses, considering her response carefully.

Shizuka (thoughtful) "Honestly, I'm not sure. But if I had enough money and the chance to get his attention, I'd definitely go to Balor."

The students exchange impressed glances, nodding in agreement. Balor's reputation clearly strikes a chord with them.

Severin Ashford (nodding) "Yeah, that makes sense. Balor's creations are legendary. I mean, he's the only one who can forge S-ranked magic equipment."

Shizuka tilts her head, studying their eager faces with a small smile.

Shizuka (curious) "But why are you all so interested? You know we only start training with magic weapons in our second year."

Briona Silversun steps forward, her voice laced with admiration as she explains.

Briona Silversun (dreamy, determined) "We just... we want to bond with our own weapons, you know? Mrs. Mühlhausen mentioned that connection with your weapon is crucial so we want to bond with them now so in the second year, we would have a better time."

Niko Tavaris (excited) "Yes, I mean, look at our royals. Kimhyun Narukami, our school's Jack has his Narukami since birth and our school's Queen is given her rapier, Angurvadal at a very young age. I just can't imagine why we have not gotten our own magic weapon sooner to bond."

Hugo Gentoshi (surprised) "Wait… but the King doesn't use a magic weapon, does he?"

The classmates glance at one another before Niko nods, answering Hugo's question.

Niko Tavaris (excited) "Exactly! He doesn't need one. Yue Monarchy Gentoshi, the King, has the strongest telekinesis ability in existence. They say he can turn anything into his weapon, even the world itself if he wanted to. So, he doesn't bother with a magic weapon."

Kaelen chimes in, clearly fascinated by the Gentoshi family's status.

Kaelen Moretti (thoughtful, curious) "Though, since he's from the Gentoshi family, he could probably get his hands on any weapon he wanted. But still, in every fight, he's never used one."

A subtle look of unease flickers across Hugo's face, but he quickly masks it. Shizuka notices but doesn't press. Satisfied with the conversation, the students thank Shizuka and head toward the cafeteria, while she, Fenix, and Hugo lag behind slightly.

Scene: Curiosity of Weapons 2

INT. ST. ALARIC ACADEMY – SUPERPOWER BRANCH COURTYARD BENCH – MIDDAY

After the conversation with their classmates, Shizuka leads Hugo and Fenix outside to a quieter spot on a bench in the courtyard, away from prying eyes. The soft afternoon breeze stirs around them as they sit down.

Shizuka turns to Hugo, her expression gentle but concerned.

Shizuka (softly) "Hugo, about what they said earlier... You looked uneasy. Are you okay?"

Hugo looks down at his hands, hesitating for a moment before nodding slowly.

Hugo Gentoshi (quiet, a bit guarded) "I'm fine. It's just… hearing about Yue, about him being 'the King' and all… it brings back things I'd rather not think about."

Fenix raises an eyebrow, his curiosity piqued but his tone soft.

Fenix Tepes (gently) "Awww… our cyclop is shy… Don't worry, your liege, Tepes is all ears."

Hugo glances at his friends, taking a deep breath. He nods, his voice barely above a whisper.

Hugo Gentoshi (somberly) "Yue is… he's my cousin. I was a Gentoshi too—until they cast me out."

Shizuka's eyes widen in surprise, but she says nothing, giving him the space to continue.

Hugo Gentoshi (pained, quietly) "I lost control of my power one night. I… I accidentally killed my parents. It was my fault, and… they didn't want me in the family anymore."

Shizuka (surprised) "But… What about your brother Andrea? He…"

Hugo Gentoshi (pained, quietly) "He is the only one who helped me. After I was exiled, he also left the family and came to take care of me..."

A heavy silence falls between them as the weight of Hugo's words sinks in. Shizuka places a gentle hand on his shoulder, her gaze soft with empathy.

Shizuka (softly) "Hugo… I'm so sorry. That's… that's unimaginable."

Fenix's usual playful grin fades, replaced by a look of sincere compassion.

Fenix Tepes (grateful, steady) "So, that's why you trained so hard to control your power."

Hugo manages a faint smile, his shoulders relaxing slightly under the warmth of his friends' support.

Hugo Gentoshi (grateful, a bit stronger) "Yeah… I cannot let such a tragedy happens again. Least because of my power."

The three friends sit in the quiet for a moment, the weight of the revelation lingering. Finally, Shizuka breaks the silence, her voice resolute.

Shizuka (determined) "Don't worry, Hugo. We'll be with you every step of the way."

Fenix gives Hugo an encouraging nudge, his usual grin reappearing.

Fenix Tepes (grinning) "Yeah, and maybe one day, you'll be his majesty's equal. Who knows, right?"

After a brief moment of quiet, Hugo breaks the silence, his gaze turning thoughtful as he recalls something from his past. The earlier conversation about GGG weapons lingers in his mind, stirring memories from his time with Eagle Step.

Hugo Gentoshi (slowly, thoughtful) "You know… back when I was with Eagle Step, they used to say that the GGG Corporation's weapons were all faulty. They told me their enchanted weapons never held up in real combat, that they were unstable."

Shizuka and Fenix exchange a glance, curious about where this is going.

Hugo Gentoshi (continues, curious) "But after the whole thing about how they torture and lie to us… I… I don't know if that was the whole truth. What do you guys think? How do GGG's weapons really compare? Not just to Balor's, but to the other dwarves' work too?"

Fenix leans back on the bench, folding his arms as he considers the question. His dramatic flair fades for a moment, replaced by a rare look of genuine thoughtfulness.

Fenix Tepes (thoughtful, musing) "Well, the GGG has a variety of weapons for sure. They range from E-ranked weapons, which are barely more than simple enchanted tools, up to B-ranked gears. Their prices vary a lot too, but one thing's for sure—they're much cheaper than any weapon made by a dwarf."

Shizuka nods, leaning forward slightly as she listens.

Fenix Tepes (continues, explaining) "They also have the advantage of variety. They've got weapons to fit all kinds of styles and powers, which is why they're so popular. Customers can choose what suits them best. That's part of the reason why the dwarf community has a lot of hatred toward the GGG. They can't keep up with the prices or the sheer range of options GGG offers."

He pauses, a glint of irony in his eyes as he adds.

Fenix Tepes (smirking) "Though, if I were them, I'd choose not to trigger the humans again. Remember, the reason humans are the rulers of the planet now is because they can mass produce everything."

Hugo processes this, the tension on his face softening as he absorbs the information.

Hugo Gentoshi (uncertain) "So… their weapons are better than the dwarves' now? Except Balor, of course."

Fenix shrugs, his usual playfulness returning.

Fenix Tepes (casual, teasing) "I dunno, maybe? Depends on who you ask. Dwarves will say their hand-crafted weapons are unmatched, that no mass-produced junk can compare. Humans will say their innovation makes them better. But in terms of accessibility and price? The humans have definitely got the upper hand."

Shizuka taps her chin thoughtfully, her eyes narrowing as she considers something.

Shizuka Maidono (thoughtful) "Why don't we ask your brother, Andrea? As an ex-member of the Gentoshi family, he'd probably know better than we do, right? He might have insight into how GGG operates and how their weapons really stack up."

Hugo Gentoshi (smiling, relax) "Alright, let's ask him then."

Scene: Angela's Invitation

INT. HUGO'S APARTMENT – EVENING

The orange glow of the setting sun casts warm light over the small apartment Andrea and Hugo share. The place is modest, barely furnished, with only a small kitchen, sparse seating, and two thin mattresses laid on the floor. At the kitchen table sits Angela Gentoshi, her striking emerald eyes scanning the apartment, her face creased with concern.

Angela (frowning) "This place is... so small. And just one bedroom, two little mattresses… not even a real bed. Brother, how can you live like this?"

Andrea (softly, with a faint smile) "It's what I can afford for now. But don't worry about me, Angela."

Angela's gaze remains fixed on him, her concern deepening.

Angela (insistent) "Of course, I have to worry. My brother shouldn't be living like this. As your sister, it's my right to worry about you."

Andrea flinches, but beneath the discomfort, a hint of happiness crosses his face. Angela softens and glances down at her purse, pulling out a small, sealed envelope.

Angela (gently, smiling) "It isn't much, but here…"

Andrea (firmly, shaking his head) "It's alright, Angela. I won't take it."

Angela blinks, momentarily taken aback.

Angela "But… why? We're family, Andrea. Siblings look out for each other."

Andrea's eyes harden slightly as he glances over at her.

Andrea (quietly) "Was this Lysander's idea?"

Angela's expression flickers with a hint of surprise, but she recovers, smiling softly.

Angela (smiling) "We're all siblings, big brother. Whether it's Lysander or me, we're both concerned about you."

Andrea's voice is calm, but a steely edge slips through.

Andrea "If I accept this, I'll only spend it on Hugo. And then you'll see it as me 'wasting my money on a one-eyed demon.' I'm your brother, Angela, and I won't disappoint my family—neither you nor Hugo."

Angela's smile fades as she watches him with a mixture of frustration and concern.

Angela (concerned) "So… you're just here, working two jobs, sixteen hours a day for minimum wages, just to support that demon?"

Andrea (firm) "It's my choice, Angela. I'm sorry, but this is how it is."

The tension hangs in the air, unspoken words heavy between them. Just then, the front door swings open, and Hugo enters with Shizuka and Fenix. Fenix saunters in first, smirking, seemingly oblivious to the tension.

Fenix (grinning) "Hello, dear brother. Your favorite cyclops and his majestic vampire lord have returned!"

But as he catches sight of Angela, his words falter, the smirk slipping from his face. Shizuka, stunned by Angela's beauty, stares wide-eyed.

Shizuka (awed, whispering) "She's… so beautiful."

Hugo stands still, his one green eye fixed on Angela, shock and sadness mingling in his expression.

Hugo (barely above a whisper) "Big… sister…"

The room fills with silence, each person's eyes locked on Angela as the weight of Hugo's words lingers in the small, dimly lit apartment.

Angela's eyes shift to Hugo, her gaze sharpening as she takes him in. She almost seems reluctant to acknowledge him, her initial glance softened by a mask of polite detachment.

Angela (coldly, reserved) "So, Hugo. You're here too."

Hugo stands still, caught between wanting to respond and fearing what she might say. His single eye is full of uncertainty, but he gives a small nod, voice low.

Hugo "Yes… sister."

Angela's gaze hardens, barely concealing her disdain.

Angela "I see you've found some… friends."

She glances briefly at Fenix and Shizuka, the faintest hint of a smirk tugging at her lips, as if amused by the company he keeps. Fenix, sensing the tension, leans toward Hugo, whispering with a mischievous glint in his eye.

Fenix (whispering, playful) "Bit frosty, isn't she?"

Hugo lowers his gaze, giving a small, uncomfortable smile. Angela's attention returns to Andrea, a sigh escaping her lips as she addresses him, her tone carrying a hint of disappointment.

Angela "Andrea, I meant what I said before. You shouldn't have to live in these conditions… but that's your decision."

Andrea's expression hardens, standing resolute. He meets her gaze without wavering.

Andrea "I made my choice, Angela. I won't abandon him."

Angela's posture stiffens, her composure visibly shaken for just a moment. She gives a tight nod, her words clipped.

Angela (coolly) "As you wish. But understand, Andrea, this wasn't what I had in mind. You could do better than to… be weighed down like this."

Her words cut through the room, leaving an uncomfortable silence. Hugo shifts, hurt and frustrated, though he tries to hide it. Fenix, catching the tension, raises an eyebrow but says nothing, glancing between Hugo and Angela.

With one last lingering, almost pitying glance at Hugo, Angela straightens, her hand briefly brushing Andrea's arm.

Angela "If you change your mind, my offer still stands. But remember—some burdens aren't worth carrying."

With that, Angela turns sharply and exits the apartment, leaving a tense silence in her wake. The door shuts behind her, and the room remains still, each of them processing her pointed words. Fenix is the first to break the silence.

Fenix (grinning, attempting levity) "Well, she's got the bedside manner of a vampire. But don't worry, Cyclops, you've got better people on your side."

Hugo manages a small, grateful smile, though he still looks pensive, his gaze lingering on the door.

Hugo (quietly) "Maybe… maybe she's right. Maybe I am a burden."

Andrea steps in, his voice gentle but firm.

Andrea "No, Hugo. Don't let anyone make you feel that way. You're worth more than you know."

The words hang in the air, bringing a warmth that replaces the chill left behind by Angela. The friends exchange glances, silently standing in support of Hugo, a small but meaningful moment shared in their quiet apartment.

INT. HUGO'S APARTMENT – EVENING

The apartment falls into a quiet lull as the door clicks shut behind Angela. A tense silence lingers, each person seemingly lost in thought.

It's Fenix who breaks it, flashing his usual grin and leaning back dramatically.

Fenix (grinning, with mock drama) "Whoa… so our little cyclops isn't just any old royal outcast but the tragic prince himself, cast out by his own court? So sad~"

Hugo chuckles at Fenix's theatrics, trying to shake off the heaviness of Angela's words.

Hugo (chuckling) "Yeah… Wait, the court?"

Fenix (grinning, explaining) "Lysander Chocolate Gentoshi and Angela Grimhilde Gentoshi, the King's cousins. The king, Yue, is more aligned with the academic branch than the superpower branch so he spent most of his time with these two in the academic branch, hence, the King's Court."

Hugo (still surprised) "Oh… I didn't know about that."

Shizuka (in awe) "Wow, so that was Angela? She's beautiful, like… unbelievably beautiful."

Fenix (smirking) "And not just beautiful. She's the 'prestigious flower' of the academic branch, no less. Winner of last year's Academy Beauty Model contest."

As they talk, Hugo makes his way over to the table and sits down, the fleeting moment of laughter fading as he looks at his brother, a pang of sadness settling in.

Hugo (quietly) "Big brother… why was big sister here?"

Andrea sighs, sensing Hugo's worries and the guilt Angela's words have stirred up.

Andrea (sighing, with a gentle smile) "She wanted me to accept some money from Lysander… and offered me a job at GGG. Looks like he's already secured a spot for me as a manager in the company."

At this, Hugo's expression falls. His sister's biting words echo in his mind, reminding him that, without him, his brother might still be with the family and on a better path.

Hugo (quietly, regretful) "Oh…"

Andrea immediately notices and reaches over, a firm hand on Hugo's shoulder.

Andrea (reassuring) "Hey, don't even think like that. I'm here because of my choice, Hugo. I wouldn't change a thing."

Hugo (hesitating) "But…"

Andrea (firm, breaking the thought) "No negative thoughts, got it?"

Hugo (nodding) "Alright… if you say so."

Andrea gives him a warm smile, the tension fully dispelling.

Andrea (light-heartedly) "It's nice having you all here. You three want something to drink?"

The mood lifts as Fenix perks up, clearly ready to change the subject.

Fenix (grinning) "Absolutely, but only if it's a drink fit for a royal gathering!"

Andrea chuckles as he heads toward the tiny kitchen, the comforting sounds of glasses clinking and water pouring filling the air as the group settles in, the weight of the evening momentarily lifted.

As the setting sun casts an orange glow over the small apartment, Hugo, Shizuka, and Fenix settle around the table, still taken aback after Angela's visit. Andrea, sensing their curiosity, prepares to answer their lingering questions.

Fenix (leaning in, curious) "So, I've got to know… are the magic weapons made by GGG really as good as they say? Better than even a dwarven smith's?"

Andrea chuckles, intrigued by the question, as he sets down his glass.

Andrea "That's… an interesting question. But first, what do you three know about magic weapons?"

Hugo (thinking, recalling) "They're like living beings, right? With the magic gem as their heart, the magic circuits as their veins, and the metal as skin and flesh. And then, we—the users—are supposed to act as the 'brain.'"

Andrea (smiling) "Oh, so that's what they're teaching these days?"

Shizuka "They also told us that when dwarves create magic weapons, they put part of their soul into it, making each one unique. The weapon gets stronger the more it bonds with its user since the user is supposed to be the 'brain' guiding it."

Andrea "I see… that sounds about right for a dwarven craftsmanship lesson."

Hugo (puzzled) "So… it isn't true, big brother?"

Andrea leans forward slightly, crossing his arms as he looks at them thoughtfully.

Andrea "Not exactly wrong… but think about it this way. Look around—at the clock, the electric appliances, even the engine in a car. They all have circuits, 'veins' if you will, and an engine at their core. Why aren't they considered alive?"

Shizuka and Fenix glance at each other, both caught off guard by the analogy.

Andrea "The line between 'living' and 'non-living' isn't so clear-cut. For the Gentoshi family, the line is about science. To them, life is defined through cellular and molecular complexity, not by some idea of a 'soul.'"

He lets that settle in for a moment before continuing.

Andrea (grinning slightly) "Maybe that explains their ruthlessness… but it also explains why GGG's weapons are so highly valued by top-tier hunters. The part about the 'soul' isn't wrong. Dwarven smiths put part of themselves into their work, which gives it that unique quality. But with the Gentoshi weapons, there's none of that. They're blank—like a white sheet of paper. So, each user can leave their own mark, shaping it to their needs without interference."

The three students blink, taking in this new perspective.

Andrea "Even though a smith like Balor can craft a mighty S-ranked weapon, GGG's weapons—though usually capped at B-rank—are reliable and adaptable to nearly any user. A dwarven weapon might be powerful, yes, but if the user and the weapon aren't compatible, it may never reach its potential. It's like… in the GGG, you choose your weapon. With the dwarves? Your weapon chooses you."

The students are silent, clearly impressed.

Hugo (softly, thoughtful) "So… they're not as much about bonding with the user as they are about… being useful to anyone."

Andrea nods.

Andrea "Exactly. They don't care about connecting with you, only about doing their job. It's a different kind of loyalty, one based on simplicity and reliability."

He leans back, a slight smile tugging at the corner of his mouth, as the students sit with this new understanding, each thinking about what it means for them as hunters.

Shizuka leans forward, her curiosity piqued by Andrea's insights into the GGG's weapons.

Shizuka "What about the weapons we find in dungeons? Are they more like the GGG's or the dwarves'?"

Andrea "More like the dwarves'. Dungeon weapons usually come with unique traits, almost like they've developed a personality. That's why, unless you stumble on something really good, like A-ranked or higher, most hunters still prefer GGG weapons for the consistency and reliability."

Andrea "Price is also an issue for dwarf-made weapons. As I mentioned, they 'flow their soul into the weapon,' so to get one custom-made to suit you perfectly can cost a fortune. With GGG, though, you don't have that problem. They offer a wide variety, and their suitability rate is almost one hundred percent."

Hugo (curious) "Do you think… they'll eventually be able to make S-ranked weapons with their current methods?"

Andrea (thoughtfully) "No idea. Magic weapons are GGG's main cash flow, but their real treasure is their research institute. They study everything—magic, superpowers, even the workings of dungeon magic—and apply scientific principles to it. That's how they started creating these weapons in the first place."

Fenix smirks, tilting his head as he sips from his blood bag.

Fenix "Ah, human intelligence—their deadliest weapon."

Andrea chuckles, nodding in agreement.

Andrea "Perhaps they already have S-ranked weapons in experimental forms. Take Lysander's wand, for example, from that Eagle Step incident. Its power was incredible, especially since Lysander—an almost completely normal person with no power nor combat experience—was able to take down seasoned hunters of Eagle Step with it. I don't know if his wand is technically S-ranked, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Gentoshi already has some S-class weapons in testing."

Shizuka, Fenix, and Hugo exchange a look, a mix of awe and unease settling over them as they absorb Andrea's words. The thought of GGG holding experimental weapons of that power, and the mystery surrounding the Gentoshi family's research, leaves a heavy silence in the room.

Shizuka (quietly) "It sounds like GGG's influence runs even deeper than we thought…"

Andrea (nodding) "It does. That's why people are so drawn to their weapons. It's not just about power—it's the innovation, the way they approach magic scientifically. But that also means it can be… unpredictable."

Hugo glances at his brother, admiration flickering in his gaze.

Andrea (curious) "Now, come to think of it, why do you three ask about magic weapons? Schoolwork?"

Hugo (honest) "Well, we are thinking of getting a magic weapon. You know, because of the bonding for our second years to train with."

Andrea's face darkens, his gaze shifting to the table. He runs a hand through his hair, as if thinking through a difficult decision.

Andrea (hesitating) "Hugo… a good magic weapon, one you'd really benefit from, isn't cheap. Especially not the kind that can grow with you and keep up as you get stronger."

Hugo shifts uncomfortably, noticing the troubled expression on his brother's face.

Hugo (softly) "Oh… I didn't mean to bring it up like that, big brother. I just thought, maybe one day, you know?"

Andrea looks at him, his expression softening, though a faint sadness lingers in his eyes.

Andrea (sighing) "I know. I'd give you the best weapon out there if I could, Hugo. But even a lower-grade, reliable weapon is costly. The kind of weapon that won't just break apart after a few fights…"

Shizuka glances between them, realizing the tension in Andrea's words. She gives Hugo a reassuring smile, trying to ease the mood.

Shizuka "Hey, we're just starting out, right? We've got a long way to go. We don't need the best gear yet."

Fenix leans forward, his expression shifting from playful to serious as he considers Andrea's words.

Fenix (persistent, concerned) "O' cyclop's big brother, I don't want to be rude, but… why don't you just accept the flower's invitation to manage at GGG? With that salary, you could improve your living situation, and I'm sure Lysander and Angela wouldn't be so stingy that they wouldn't at least give their brother a good sword or two."

Andrea's face darkens at the suggestion, though he lets out a sigh, looking thoughtfully down.

Andrea (sighing, a bit saddened) "It's not that I don't want to, Fenix. But you've seen them—Lysander and Angela despise Hugo. If I were to take that position, they'd feel betrayed, knowing I'm still here, still helping the one they see as a… disappointment to the family."

Fenix tilts his head, undeterred.

Fenix (soft but determined) "But couldn't this be a way to… rebuild that bond? Maybe change their minds over time?"

Andrea cuts him off with a shake of his head, his voice steady but laced with a sadness that hints at years of frustration.

Andrea (sigh) "Fenix, I know you mean well, but it isn't that simple. It's not a matter of personality—it's their ideology. The Gentoshi family believes in a kind of… survival of the fittest. When our parents died, Hugo survived, and that survival was seen as a mark against them. In their eyes, our parents… and Hugo… were proof that their 'line' has a flaw. That's why they cast him out, thinking it was somehow 'merciful.' Because, in their world, the alternative would be… worse."

Shizuka's hands fly to her mouth, her eyes wide with horror as she processes his words. Hugo sits quietly, his face a mixture of sadness and resignation.

Shizuka (whispering, horrified) "They… they would go that far?"

Andrea nods, the weight of the truth settling in.

Andrea (softly) "To them, it's a matter of preserving their legacy. They think casting Hugo out was showing mercy, their version of… compassion."

A brief silence fills the room, thick with tension. Fenix shakes his head, his gaze sharp and unrelenting.

Fenix (firmly) "O' cyclop's big brother, you can't just say that without even trying. Sure, maybe it's their ideology or whatever, but family isn't just about ideologies. If they truly cared, they'd put that aside and see Hugo for who he is."

Andrea's gaze shifts, his face darkened by something deeper—a resignation. He lets out a long, quiet sigh, looking between Hugo, Shizuka, and Fenix.

Andrea (sighing) "It's… not that simple, Fenix. My family is completely devoted to this belief. To them, Hugo is a reminder of weakness, a contradiction to everything they were taught. If I accepted their term, I would betray Hugo. But if I went there, did the job and still helped Hugo, I would betray them, my own blood family."

Shizuka places a gentle hand on Hugo's shoulder, as he sits quietly, sadness flickering in his single eye.

Shizuka (softly, reassuring) "But Andrea, family can't just be about who's the strongest or most deserving. That's not fair—to Hugo, or to you."

Andrea glances at her, a faint, sad smile crossing his face.

Andrea "I know, Shizuka. And maybe I'm too proud… or maybe I'm afraid they'd somehow find a way to hurt him even more."

The room falls silent. Shizuka's face is pale, a mix of shock and sadness. Hugo, listening closely, lowers his gaze, his sadness now a weight that's grown even heavier.

Andrea "Maybe, in the future, I'll try to mend the bond. But for now… being here is my choice. This is where I need to be."

He places a reassuring hand on Hugo's shoulder, and Hugo gives him a grateful, albeit small, smile in return.

Hugo (quietly) "Thanks, big brother."
