As the day went on, Lynn couldn't shake off the feeling that Alex Hult was still out there, waiting for her. She felt like she was walking on eggshells, expecting him to pop up at any moment. She couldn't understand why he would approach her again.
Finally, her shift ended and she was able to leave the diner. She walked home quickly, her eyes scanning the streets for any sign of him. But there wasn't a sign of him.
When she arrived at her apartment, she locked the door behind her and leaned against it, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. When was she finally going to have peace?
she looked down at the business card he had given her and felt a shiver run down her spine. "You are connected to him" The words of the stranger from the other night suddenly popped up in her head. She gave her head to little shake of reality. There was no Way.
Lynn tried to distract herself by watching TV and browsing her phone, but it was of no use.
As the night wore on, she found herself wondering what Alex Hult wanted from her. Was it just to apologise? Since he was so high and mighty, why did he come by himself? Did he perhaps feel immensely guilty when he found out she had been fired and was trying to make amends? She scoffed, he didn't appear that way to her. It was something else.
As the night wore on, Lynn's thoughts only grew more tangled. She couldn't shake the feeling that Alex Hult was hiding something, that there was more to his interest in her than met the eye.
Despite her reservations, she found herself picking up the business card he had given her, her fingers tracing the raised letters of his name.
Alex Hult, CEO of Hult Industries. He was from a completely different world from her, way way different...
What would someone like that want her to do with her? Wouldn't anymore be troubled by this?
Lynn's mind was a chaos of questions and fears. She wished she had someone to talk to, someone who could offer her advice and tell her what she could do.
But she was alone.
She had always been a bit of a loner, content to keep to herself. She had turned that way because of the way people pitied her. She hated the look of pity.
But now, she felt the need to talk to someone about her life, about her struggles.
With a sigh, Lynn put the business card down and stood up, pacing back and forth across her small apartment.
She needed to focus on her own life and her own goals. She couldn't let some wealthy CEO's strange behaviour throw her off track.
Lynn stopped dead in her tracks when someone caught her eyes outside her window. She immediately walked towards the window so she could see better and she gasped out in shock.
She felt a surge of fear as she realized Alex Hult was still watching her. He was standing there close to a car, outside her house! and he was staring right at her. Was she seeing things? She tried to step back from the window, but her feet seemed rooted to the spot.
Their eyes locked for what felt like an eternity, the tension between them crackling like electricity.
Then, just as suddenly as he had appeared, Alex Hult turned and disappeared into the night.
Lynn let out a shaky breath, her heart still racing. What did he want from her? No! he was a creep! A complete one! Panic surged through her entire body.
She rushed to her door to make sure it was tightly locked and then bolted her not-so-guarded window. Sleep was the farthest thing for Lynn now as she feared for what could happen.
While sitting on her bed wide awake and alert, she decided to do some research on Alex Hult, who exactly was he? She spent the rest of the night scouring the internet, looking for any information she could find.
What she discovered shocked her.
Alex Hult was more than just a wealthy CEO. He was a billionaire with connections to some of the most powerful people in the world.
And he was rumoured to be ruthless in business, stopping at nothing to get what he wanted.
Lynn's eyes widened as she read the words on her screen. What had she gotten herself into?
Lynn's mind was racing with questions and fears. What did Alex Hult want from her?
She tried to push the thoughts aside, telling herself she was just being paranoid. But she couldn't shake the feeling of fear and confusion off.
As she lay in bed, trying to sleep, Lynn's thoughts kept drifting back to Alex Hult, And then, just as she was starting to drift off, she heard a noise outside her window.
At first, she thought it was just the wind or a stray animal. But then she heard it again - a faint scratching sound, followed by a low whisper.
"Lynn."
Her heart skipped a beat as she recognized the voice. Alex Hult. She got up abruptly, Her heart beating Frantically in her ribcage. He was back!
Lynn's heart was racing as she threw off the covers and crept to the window. Maybe she was just sleep-deprived and hearing things. She decided to check
and she slowly lifted the window, and a chill ran down her spine as she saw Alex Hult's face inches from hers. Oh no! Was he going to kill her?
"What... what do you want?" she whispered, trying to keep her voice steady, her mind railing, thinking about what she could use to defend herself from this creep!
"I want to talk to you," he replied, his eyes gleaming in the dark. "Can I come in?" he sounded calm, which only made Lynn more agitated.
Lynn hesitated, unsure of what to do. "I called the police!... They will be here soon, so don't even think to try anything..." She threatened, but her voice gave her fear away.
Lynn's eyes widened in shock as Alex Hult swung his legs over the windowsill and dropped into her room, completely ignoring her threat She took a step back, her heart racing, as he stood up and towered over her. Her instinct screamed at her to scream for help, but she knew no one was going to help her. They wouldn't even bother to check!
"What are you doing?" she demanded, trying to keep her voice steady. Trying to hide her fear
Alex held up his hands in a calming gesture. "I'm sorry, Lynn. I didn't mean to scare you. I had to talk to you."
Lynn's mind was reeling. She couldn't believe this was happening. Trying to talk to her! By creeping around her house and breaking into her room like a thief!
"You can't just break into my house, leave! The police will be here any minute!" she said, trying to sound firm.
Alex took a step forward, his eyes locked on hers. "I had to," he said. "I didn't have a choice."
Lynn's heart was still racing, but she tried to think clearly. What did he mean by "I didn't have a choice"?
Suddenly, she remembered the strange feeling she had been having all day like someone was watching her. And now Alex was standing in her room, telling her he had to talk to her.
A shiver ran down her spine. What was going on?
