Chereads / Its Turn of My Poker's Path / Chapter 6 - The Moonlight Assassin, Park Sung-hoo

Chapter 6 - The Moonlight Assassin, Park Sung-hoo

******

After telling one of the servants to prepare a vehicle for me, I began to leave the house that should be called a palace.

For some reason, since the incident where I was beaten by a pedestrian, I am now being escorted by a group of guards who seem to be each very strong, strong enough to be considered the main force of a guild, and their numbers are 12? 15? Or 20?

I can't be sure. Some of them seem to have the ability to become invisible or merge with shadows.

My power isn't sufficient to detect that.

At this moment, I am heading to Grimeville District, a district located north of Seoul that is not far from the city.

That place is known as a slum district that was created after the Apocalypse occurred.

The Apocalypse itself was a time when suddenly the entire world experienced a dungeon break simultaneously, which truly devastated the surrounding cities and settlements.

And it was a significant blow to all countries, and there were even some countries whose governments were not strong and eventually collapsed due to the dungeon break, throwing those countries into chaos.

One of them is North Korea. Due to the delayed aid from allied countries, North Korea was ultimately destroyed, and its citizens, confused about their safety, began fleeing south and begging for protection from the South Korean government.

Of course, because of South Korea's long-standing aspiration to reunify the Korean Peninsula, they were welcomed warmly.

However, they encountered the problem that much of North Korea had truly fallen under the control of monsters, making it very difficult for them to conquer that area.

With no other choice, they built a temporary district to accommodate them, but due to budget limitations and domestic political issues, they were only given a simple district, resulting in the creation of a district known as Grimeville District, a slum district crowded with poor people and high crime rates.

So, why do I have to go there?

This might be the question in the minds of most of the guards and even the driver in front of me.

But of course, I have a very strong reason to go there.

A very strong reason for my next step…..

In the dusk that turns to night, passing through muddy and pothole-filled roads, looking at the poorly maintained three-story houses and buildings, with walls crumbling here and there, flickering lights, and elderly people sitting pensively in front of buildings while reflecting.

To be honest, the atmosphere here isn't that bad compared to my previous life.

However, I feel a bit uncomfortable with the gazes of the citizens staring at my convoy with disdain as if we were enemies.

Stopping at a place not far from the main road, I got out alone and began walking through the slum settlement.

Even though the gazes of the people were still very sharp towards me, perhaps because of my clothes?

Are my clothes too flashy?

Well, that's not surprising; the servants forced me to wear this when I was going out, a formal outfit with a European noble style that somewhat resembles a black suit?

What is this outfit called? A cloak? Tallcoat? Tuxedo?

Ahh, whatever it's called, I don't care!!

When I arrived in front of a dilapidated shack that looked like it was about to collapse, I adjusted my fedora and slowly opened the door to the shack.

Kriekkkk…..

The creaking sound of the shack's door hinges filled the interior. Inside, I saw an old man lying weakly on a bed made of clay and wood, and the old man looked like he was dying.

Anyone who saw that old man would surely feel pity and would immediately try to help him without thinking too much.

But I knew a secret that they did not know.

Without turning around, the old man weakly asked, "Who are you?"

"Me?"

I asked, pointing to myself.

"Yes, you. Who are you? I don't have neighbors like you. Please leave here."

Sighing lightly, I shook my head and introduced myself in a loud voice.

"Ahhha~, it's rude to drive away a guest who has just arrived. Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Seo Hyeon-woo, the heir of Seo Group, the largest multinational company in the world. Do you know it?"

Suddenly, I felt a chill all over my body, and even without realizing it, the old man who had been on the bed was now right behind me with a dagger aimed at my neck.

"Tell me what your purpose here is. If not, you will die."

Chuckling lightly, I didn't try to beat around the bush and went straight to the point.

"Hey, old man Kim, or should I call you Park Sung-hoo, a Legendary Assassin in the world?"

A slight twitch appeared on the old man's face upon hearing those words, but I continued.

"I'll get straight to the point. Work for me as my guard, and I will pay you accordingly. Are you willing?"

Yes, my purpose in coming to this slum district is to recruit this old bastard.

Park Sung-hoo, better known as the Moonlight Assassin, is a legendary assassin who has retired from the hunter world after losing his entire family and having his right arm cut off while trying to take revenge on his enemies.

He was extremely famous twenty years ago until his entity completely vanished from the world of assassins.

The old man's eyes widened slightly upon hearing the offer. However, he shook his head and stared at me with a dead gaze.

"Sighhh….. A futile request, I cannot grant your request—"

"Salary of 100 million credits per month. Of course, with other allowances."

I immediately cut in with a tempting offer. Of course, 100 million credits per month is not a small amount, but fortunately, he is the heir of Do-hyun, a man who is even confused about how to spend his money. So this amount is not a problem.

Even though the old man only has one remaining hand, he is still a top S-Rank assassin-type hunter, which is truly worth the money he would spend.

The old man's eyes were wide with shock upon hearing the offer.

Of course, for an old man who struggles to get even 10 credits to eat in this slum district, that is a huge sum.

Unbeknownst to the old man, his stance began to waver. However, he gritted his teeth and tried to reject it again.

"Grrhhh…. I'm sorry, I won't be tempted by that—"

"Ahhh…. Of course, if you want, I can help you and all your neighbors and acquaintances get out of this extreme poverty, what do you think?"
