Elena stands outside of a mansion not enjoying the cool night breeze and for once she doesn't look up at the stars to say it's beautiful, she's even ignoring the moon which is unlike her because nature's light always fascinates her, she can't do without looking up at the sky and taking a picture of the moon or even the sun. The sunlight does not affect her eyes.
She's not doing all that tonight because her eyes can't see well, it's covered in tears and her heart is not only broken into two but it's broken into pieces. Even when she's crying she still looks beautiful.
The tears mixed with the blue of her eyes look like it could be an ocean and when people see a beautiful girl like her crying they know something is wrong and someone has wronged her. And it's not just someone who has wronged her but people, people she thought she could trust.
She caught her best friend Naomi Silver kissing her boyfriend Nicholas Reeves in one of the rooms at Darla Milton's mansion who is also the one having the birthday party.
Elena could not believe what she had just seen, she didn't have time to ask questions or even wait for them to explain, she just stormed out of there and ran outside. She's crying so much, she planned to get home as soon as possible but she doesn't know how because she's blinded by tears and it's the middle of the night. She has to be alert in the middle of the night.
So she just stands there trying to get the tears to disappear. She hates being emotional, she wishes she could control her emotions like her best friend/adopted brother, Alex. But shouldn't she be allowed to cry since she just witnessed a betrayal?
She just wants to go home, being here is making her too emotional.
"Elena!" She hears two people call her name and this is what she wanted to avoid.
"Leave me alone," she says in an attempt to move forward but stumbling.
"Elena please." Naomi touches her shoulder.
"Don't fucking touch me!" she yells, but this time she doesn't walk away she faces the Judases that are in front of her. There are tears in Naomi's pretty eyes and Elena wonders why she's crying when she's the one who got betrayed.
She's no longer running away, she has to know the truth so she looks at the both of them. Her rugby star boyfriend, Nicholas who is as handsome as they come but Elena is deemed as too beautiful to be dating someone like Nicholas.
Her beauty is beyond this world. She looks like a mythical creature who shouldn't be on this planet.
She has long golden wavy blond hair, her eyes are as blue as the ocean, her lips are shaped like a heart and so is her face. People always thought Nicholas was lucky when he got Elena to date him in Sophomore year and she thought she was lucky because she was dating the most handsome rugby player ever. People don't think she should be lucky, they think Nicholas should be the lucky one.
Now everyone's outside watching wondering how Nicholas fumbled the bag. And with Naomi for that matter.
Yes, Naomi is pretty with her long brown hair and green eyes but Elena looks otherworldly, like a fairy.
Well, that's what she is. She was thirteen when she got her period and was on the toilet when light balls appeared out of nowhere. She screamed and when her adopted father Patrick Walker rushed in to see what was going on. He told Elena everything. She's a powerful fairy, a fairy of the sun and she's a princess of a kingdom in a magical earth called Lenfairia. She's the lost princess of England over there.
The most powerful witches wanted her power and her parents didn't want them to kill her, so the Walkers suggested hiding on earth until she's of age to protect herself, so they came here years ago with two babies to take care of on earth and they raised two magical kids in a world filled with loads of magicless people and where magic isn't the norm.
Elena always knew that one day she was going to be going to the world she was born in, but she hoped it would be later in life because she had a life here on earth. A boyfriend, and a best friend. Now, she's beginning to consider leaving. She doesn't care about fucking witches she's going to force herself to learn how to control her powers so she deals with the witches trying to steal from her.
All she wants right now is to leave, she believes she's had her time on earth.
"How long has this been going on?" she asks them both. Nicholas hesitates and he begins to scratch his head, he genuinely doesn't know.
"Three weeks," Naomi answers and the people around them gasp.
"Three weeks? Bloody hell." Elena looks away and she can't control the tears at all because they're here to stay.
"Elena please we wanted to tell you."
"We?" She looks at her best friend there's pain written all over her face. She expected this from Nicholas because he's a handsome man and he's flirted with a lot of girls before but she didn't expect this from her best friend. Not the girl that complimented her dress on the first day of fifth grade, not the girl she did sleepovers with and exchanged secrets with.
Elena would be lying if she said she never thought of the girls who would gladly fall into Nicholas' arms even though he was dating someone. She's thought of a lot of girls, but Naomi, her best friend was not one of them.
Elena sees that a lot of people have left the party and are watching the drama unfold in front of them. She lets out a little laugh and she shakes her head.
"You know what, you two deserve each other. We are done," she says to the both of them.
"Baby, please." Nicholas tries grabbing her and Elena slaps him. Everyone who is watching is gagged, some even cheer for Elena.
Elena walks away.
"Elena you can't walk alone at night!" Nicholas says with his hand on his red cheek.
"I don't care!" she walks away.
Darla's house is in the woods and is surrounded by trees. Elena doesn't want to go to her house right away so she enters the woods and places her hand on a tree and her head is bowed, she tries to breathe but she cries instead. She cannot believe this, betrayal hurts and she's experiencing two breakups at the same time. It sucks.
She wishes Alex was here, Alex would want to beat Nicholas up and Elena wouldn't even stop him, he would let him beat his ass. Alex is over at Hollow Prep Academy in Euroix, the other land.
Since no witch is looking for him, he went to school there when they were fourteen. Elena thinks now would be a good time to go to that school. She knows running from her problems isn't a good idea. But she has to do something to stop this feeling, to forget about these people.
Alex and her have not been in the same school for three years now. He comes back for Christmas and Summer but it's never enough. Alex is her true best friend because he would never go behind her back to do anything with her boyfriend. And she doesn't just think that because Alex is gay and Nicholas is straight. She knows Alex would never do that to her. She needs him right now.
"You're sad." Elena jumps turning to meet the people who said that to her, and it's these gothic-looking kids, they're six of them. Elena has never seen them at school but she has seen them at the party, just looking around like they're lost. She assumed that Darla invited them because it didn't look like she was complaining or wanted to even kick them out.
The petite girl with the short blond hair in the middle was the one who spoke.
Elena wipes the tears from her face.
"A little bit yes, I shouldn't be crying for those….ugh." she groans because those people she was about to insult, she once loved.
"A pretty girl like you shouldn't be crying." The petite girl says and even though she sounds nice she still looks creepy as fuck, with her chilling soft voice, her dark demeanour and her emotionless face. Her friends share the same aesthetic as her. But Elena doesn't judge people based on how they dress but on their character.
"Thank you," she says wiping her tears and snot with the handkerchief. She didn't dress this pretty to be crying over a breakup.
She thought long and hard when she chose a pink off-the-shoulder dress and dazzling heels that were gifted to her by her dad when she turned sixteen last year.
"Hmm." the girl says tilting her head, observing her. "I wonder what fairy blood tastes like." as soon as she says that, Elena stops wiping her face and she looks at her.
"What?"
"I'm sure your blood will be." she licks her lips, "Magical." she smiles showing a sharp set of teeth. Next thing their faces go from being human to bat-like.
These aren't humans, but Elena knows what they are, they're vampires.
