Chapter 4 - Chapter 2~

Vikram~

I felt like I'd been punched in the gut, my breath knocked out of me.

The man I trusted, a loyal ally for years, had turned against us. His betrayal was a bitter pill to swallow, and my mind reeled with the implications.

How could he so callously sell out our secrets to our competitors?

The anger simmered, a burning fire that threatened to consume me. I couldn't wrap my head around his treachery, couldn't fathom what had driven him to such deceit. The shock gave way to a cold, hard fury.

The unsolved mystery of the assassination attempt on my life just a day ago still weighed heavily on my mind, and now this betrayal by my trusted PA was the final nail in the coffin.

God, I wished for him to rot in hell for his treachery.

To make matters worse, I still haven't had a chance to clear the air with Amrutha about yesterday's events. She was probably wondering what had happened, and I couldn't blame her for being concerned. My head was already spinning, and now I had to add her worries to the mix.

I dialed Karthik's number, my mind racing with questions. He answered on the first ring.

" Karthik, any updates on the assassin? " I tried to keep my tone neutral.

" Nothing concrete yet, but we're working on it. " his voice firm, " We've got some leads, but I need more time to confirm. "

" Time is a luxury we don't have right now, " I pressed, my frustration evident, " What can you tell me about the PA's involvement? "

" We're investigating that angle too, " Karthik said, " But I need you to stay calm and let us do our job. We'll get to the bottom of this. "

I hung up the call, frustration still simmering within me. But amidst the turmoil, one thing was clear.

Karthik was the only person I could trust now.

Despite my anger, I knew Karthik was doing everything he could to uncover the truth. His unwavering loyalty and dedication were my only lifelines in this treacherous landscape.

I took a deep breath, regaining control over my emotions. Karthik had always been steadfast, and I needed him more than ever.

As the moments ticked by, my mood continued to darken, each passing second chipping away at my composure.

I called Avinash, the HR of our company to come to my cabin to have a discussion regarding the recruitment.

My tone's firm but urgent, " Avinash, I need a new PA by the end of the next week. "

Avinash's voice was cautious, " Sir, that's a tight deadline. What's the reason for the rush? "

" I don't have time for explanations, Avinash. Just get it done. And make sure they're top-notch. I don't want any subpar candidates. "

I was well aware that finding a PA as exceptional as the previous one would be a daunting task, but I was resolute in my determination. I've built a reputation for being unyieldingly stubborn, and I intended to leverage that trait to get what I wanted.

Avinash hesitated before responding, " Understood, sir. But may I remind you that finding someone suitable in such a short timeframe will be challenging? "

" I don't pay you to remind me of challenges, Avinash. I pay you to deliver results. You have one week. If I don't have a new PA by then, consider yourself replaced. "

Avinash's tone turned serious, " I understand, sir. I'll make it happen. But may I request clarification on one thing? "

" Go ahead. "

" Is this related to- the previous PA's departure? " Avinash asked delicately.

I paused, choosing my words carefully. " Let's just say I need someone, I can trust. Now, get to work, Avinash. One week is all you have. "

" Consider it done sir. " and he walked out hurriedly.

Avinash knew better than to disappoint me.

Later that day, he sent me a confirmation email.

" Dear Vikram,

I have initiated the recruitment process for your new PA. I assure you that we will find the best candidate within the given timeframe.

Please find attached the job description and requirements for your review.

Best regards,

Avinash "

I scanned the attachment, satisfied with the urgency and attention to detail.

The hunt for my new PA had begun!

I had just stepped out of the board meeting room and was making my way to my cabin when Karthik's call came in.

But before I could answer, a sudden text message popped up on my phone, momentarily diverting my focus.

My heart skipped a beat as I wondered who could be behind the text.

Was it the same creepy fucker who had been sending me ominous messages over the past few weeks?

The same person who had been lurking in the shadows, threatening my life?

A chill ran down my spine as I hesitated to open the inbox. Anticipation gripped my body, my mind racing with dreadful possibilities: another assassin, another death threat, another incident waiting to unfold.

But I sighed in relief as I realised, it was from Amrutha. I opened the media sent by my fiancée, and a jolt of electricity ran through my veins.

The mirror selfie showed her wrapped in a flimsy material, her curves tantalizingly visible. My heart skipped a beat, and my pulse quickened.

" Come soon, before the meal gets cold. " the message read, sending a wave of desire coursing through me.

I couldn't help but imagine the softness of her skin, the taste of her lips, and the warmth of her embrace. My frustration from the day melted away, replaced by an overwhelming longing.

Just then, Karthik's call came in again. I hesitated, then declined it, my mind consumed by the prospect of being with my fiancée.

" Sorry, Karthik. You'll have to wait. " I muttered to myself, my voice barely above a whisper.

I quickly tucked my phone into my pocket and hastened my pace, eager to get home and indulge in the sensual delight awaiting me.

As I drove, anticipation built up, and my imagination ran wild. What did she have planned?

Finally, I arrived at my apartment complex. I took a deep breath, grabbed my keys, and stepped out, my heart racing with excitement. The elevator ride seemed eternal, each passing second stretching like an eternity.

Patience is not my forte.

The door swung open, and I was greeted by the heavenly aroma of dinner. My fiancée stood by the kitchen counter, wearing that same flimsy material, her eyes sparkling with mischief.

" Welcome home, Vikram. " she said, her voice husky, sending a tremor through my body.

I dropped my keys and strode towards her, my eyes locked on hers, drinking in the beauty of the woman I loved.

" Sorry, I'm late. Traffic. " I lied, my voice barely above a whisper. Amrutha smiled, knowing the truth, her eyes gleaming with amusement.

" Dinner's ready. " she whispered, leading me to the dining table.

The spread before us was exquisite, but my hunger lay elsewhere. Who cared about dinner when I had a feast for the senses right in front of me?

" Let's eat later. " I suggested, pulling her close, my voice trembling with desire.

Her laughter was music to my ears, a sweet melody that filled my heart with joy.

" I thought you'd say that. " she whispered, before our lips met in a passionate kiss.

The world around us melted away, leaving only the two of us, lost in the depths of our desire.

That night, Karthik's call was the last thing on my mind.
