Chapter 50 - Landslide

Aurelia sat, reclined and relaxed, in the chair opposite Elara. Sunlight—filtering in from the balcony—glinted off her dark hair and caramel skin, turning it gold. She sat cross-legged, holding Elara's stare in her odd amber gaze. Not for the first time, Elara found herself thinking how...noble she looked. As if she deserved to be on a throne rather than a high-backed chair across from Elara. In many ways, she had more of a presence than King Alaric. Her very presence rippled with coiled energy, even as unnaturally still as she was at the moment.

"I must admit, I didn't expect your findings to be so useful," she finally said, breaking the long silence. The Black Ledger is a piece we've been trying to confirm for years. Funny how you waltz in and spill its existence like it's just common gossip."
