Chapter 2 - not afraid to face chaos

After finishing cleaning the entire room, Grace quickly washed her hands, fixed her hair by untying it and brushing it, then applied some lip balm and jasmine-scented perfume. After that, she left the bathroom, not forgetting to take her small sling bag.

She crossed the living room, where Logan was sitting on the couch and staring at her directly.

"Where are you going?" Logan asked, his cold gaze matching his masculine appearance in a blue suit with the top buttons undone.

"I'm leaving because my work here is done," Grace replied, gesturing toward the kitchen. "Everything's as it should be... So, I can move on to other things," she continued.

Logan sighed, then stood up, putting his black phone in his side pocket as he approached her.

"So, you just come and go every day?" he asked.

Grace only nodded.

"Why not stay here so you don't have to keep coming and going? I think it'd be easier."

"I can't..." Grace shook her head.

"Do you live with someone at home?" Logan asked again.

"No... I live alone, but I'm comfortable with it... So I don't want to stay here. Besides, I have other work to do," Grace explained, glancing at her watch, which read eight o'clock in the morning. "I have to go now," she added, starting to walk away, but Logan suddenly grabbed her hand, turning her to face him.

Her heart pounded instantly as those hazel-blue eyes stared at her so intensely, as if piercing through her soul, making her lips silent, unable to speak.

"You haven't told me your name," Logan whispered with a faint smile.

Grace immediately looked away, pushing Logan to move back.

"I'm Grace," she whispered.

"Just Grace?" Logan raised an eyebrow.

"Um... Grace Shasha Emerson," she clarified, quickly stepping back. "Sorry, I need to go now!" she added, hurrying toward the door as if she could no longer bear Logan's gaze.

"Shasha!" Logan called out, hands on his hips, watching Grace disappear from his sight. "I'd love to call you that... Shasha... Haha... It sounds cute!" he chuckled, shaking his head as he sat back down.

"She says she doesn't like me, but she can't look at me. Seems like I could have her in bed with me... or even tomorrow," he muttered, smirking.

He sighed, furrowing his brows as he rested his right foot on the table.

"Why hasn't Soraya arrived yet? Didn't she promise to be here at eight?" He glanced at his black watch on his left wrist. "If she's late, then she has no right to complain if I'm ever late!"

Ding!

The doorbell caught his attention, Logan stood up from the sofa and walked to the door. He opened it to find a beautiful girl dressed in black with a white fur-collared coat.

"You're late, Soraya Tan," he remarked.

"Sorry, I had a little issue," Soraya replied, frowning as she looked at Logan's outfit. "Are you seriously going out dressed like that?" she asked.

Logan frowned, glancing down at his clothes.

"What's wrong? I thought I looked pretty cool!"

"Yeah, you're so cool I even want to strip you down!" Soraya retorted sarcastically, pushing Logan back inside. "But going out like this is dangerous—you'll only get delayed dealing with fans and paparazzi out there!" she added, walking toward the glass wall.

Logan was taken aback, watching Soraya hurry to the glass wall and pull back the curtains.

"Look, they'll be a hassle for us," Soraya said, peering down at the view of the front yard.

Logan moved closer to the glass wall, peering down to see a crowd of people with cameras, especially many girls carrying small posters with his image.

"Wow... I'm famous," he said with a slight smile, causing Soraya to glance at him, frowning. "That's a good thing... If one of them is cute, I might bring her here... to keep me company all night..."

"Don't be crazy!" Soraya hissed, stepping away. "You can't act recklessly because it could ruin your career that's just getting started!"

Logan just smirked, hands on his hips, observing the crowd outside.

"You need to control yourself... Being famous doesn't make everything easier. It may feel easy, but it makes things harder because you have to be cautious about everything," Soraya warned, sighing as Logan walked up to her.

"You don't need to lecture me on that; I already know," Logan replied casually. "Now let's go..."

Soraya frowned. "Please... wear a jacket, a hat, or a mask... something to make sure they don't recognize you," she urged, concerned.

"I'm going to meet them, do a little interview, and take some photos," Logan replied, heading toward the front door.

"Logan, you can't do that!" Soraya chased after him. "You have to protect your privacy, or even make sure they don't know you're here. You'll have a hard time once they realize you're around!"

Logan remained silent, continuing to walk as Soraya followed him, nagging. He smiled, running a hand through his neatly styled black hair, imagining how excited the girls would be to see him.

'This is what I want; there's no way I'd hide. After all, without fans, I wouldn't be famous,' he thought to himself.

...

Grace exited the building, noticing the paparazzi and the many girls in the yard, her eyes focusing on one of the posters they held, reminding her of Logan.

'Is he famous now? If only they knew he's a cheeky and arrogant bachelor, would they still like him?' she wondered, smiling slightly, recalling Logan's attitude that often annoyed her.

Drettt...

Grace quickly pulled out her phone, ringing in her small bag, and saw an incoming call from a contact named Jane. She answered it.

"I'm on my way to the child care center now, don't worry," she said as she walked down the steps toward the yard.

"Can you come faster? I can't keep watching these kids; my stomach's acting up... and Rose hasn't arrived yet!" Jane sounded anxious.

"Oh my, Jane... what did you eat? Why is your stomach upset?"

"I don't know... Please get here soon!"

"Okay, wait, just five minutes!" Grace ended the call, and then hurriedly jogged across the sidewalk area.
