Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Their movements were quicker than I imagined

Nan Yu was momentarily stunned, finding it difficult to associate the brutal person Song Yingqing spoke of with the calm and self-possessed individual in the wheelchair.

She stepped forward, hooked her arm through Song Yingqing's, and leaned on her shoulder, speaking softly to soothe and explain.

"Yingqing, the flash marriage was voluntary, and it's just a registration. We will get divorced in three months, and I won't have any contact with him during this period."

Song Yingqing's eyes widened in astonishment, "Divorce?!"

"Yes, I've already been given the divorce agreement." Nan Yu placed the document in front of Song Yingqing.

After carefully reading it, Song Yingqing sighed in relief and began to pray, "I hope he keeps his promise and doesn't come looking for you these three months."

Nan Yu said, "But the Nan Family has kicked me out, so I might need to stay with you for a while."

Song Yingqing looked into Nan Yu's innocent, pitiful black eyes, still reddened as if she had cried, and her heart immediately filled with a dense pain.

"Rest assured, stay here as long as you like, even for a lifetime."

Nan Yu sincerely said, "Yingqing, thank you."

When everyone else had abandoned her, it was only Yingqing who came to her side and brought her home.

Song Yingqing's cheeks blushed, and suddenly a thought flashed through her mind. She sat up straight and said seriously, "By the way, the Huo Family came looking for me in City C three days ago."

"They asked me to help them get in touch with you to treat the leg ailment of a major figure in the Huo Family. I didn't reveal any of your information, but I estimate they will find you soon."

Nan Yu's eyes flickered slightly, "They're faster than I expected."

Half a month ago, when she learned that the Huo Family was offering a high reward for any information on her, she had deliberately erased what little information there was about her even more thoroughly.

She hadn't expected the Huo Family would be able to find Song Yingqing. She had underestimated them.

Song Yingqing curiously asked, "Xiao Yu, are you going to help him with the treatment?"

Nan Yu replied indifferently, "We'll see when they actually find me."

Song Yingqing wasn't surprised. Glancing at the divorce agreement beside her, she suddenly speculated, "Xiao Yu, do you think the major figure from the Huo Family could be your flash marriage partner?"

"Impossible."

Nan Yu denied it without hesitation.

Song Yingqing: "?"

She looked curiously at Nan Yu.

Nan Yu said firmly, "The one from the Huo Family has a leg condition caused by a car accident and has half of his face ruined, hence he always appears masked."

"As for that partner, although his legs are disabled, it's a congenital condition, and his face is unscarred, looks…" Nan Yu frowned as the image of that perfect face surfaced in her mind, "somewhat handsome."

Song Yingqing teased, "Thinking about it, with the modest status of the Nan Family, they couldn't possibly dream of marrying into the Huo Family. Otherwise, with Nan Qingqing's temperament, she would have seduced him into bed and told the whole world by now."

Elsewhere, in the Huo Family ancestral home.

Xia Xing stood nervously in the middle of the hall, not daring to look up, only sneaking glances at the formidable Elder Lady Huo from the corner of his eye.

Though the Elder Lady's hair was gray, she exuded a powerful aura and commanded respect without anger.

At the moment, she was examining a bright red marriage certificate, flipping it over and over to ascertain its authenticity.

The atmosphere grew increasingly tense, and the invisible pressure made Xia Xing's head droop even lower.

Suddenly, the Elder Lady's forceful voice broke the silence.

"Xia Xing, you've brought back the certificate, but where is my granddaughter-in-law? Why didn't you bring her to meet me?"

Xia Xing swallowed frantically, sweat beading on his forehead, his mind racing, not daring to speak rashly.

Chi Ying watched him coldly.

For a moment, the atmosphere was as tense as if armies were drawn up in battle.

With a stiff neck, Xia Xing began hesitantly, "Elder Lady, the Young Madam is dearly loved at home. We've just registered our marriage, and she is reluctant to leave her parents for the time being and wishes to stay at the Nan Family's house for a few more days."

On hearing this, Chi Ying felt there was some sense to it and picked up the marriage certificate again, touching the photo on it, memorizing Nan Yu's face.

She showed a satisfied smile and said, "Indeed, a filial and good child."

"Xia Xing, after you go back, tell Juanyan to visit the Nan Family tomorrow and bring my granddaughter-in-law over for dinner."

Xia Xing, dripping with sweat, bowed and responded, "Yes, Elder Lady."

After Xia Xing hurriedly left, Chi Ying narrowed her eyes and said to the housekeeper beside her, "I'm afraid that boy Juanyan will look for excuses to refuse. Just in case, take me to the Nan Family tomorrow afternoon, and I'll bring my granddaughter-in-law back myself."
