Chapter 71 - chapter 68

"Why don't skeletons ever have good sex lives?

They don't have the guts for it!" @_@

------------------------------------------

Ren leans back in his chair, his gaze fixed on the girl, lips curling into a sly smile.

"You think you're untouchable, don't you?" he mutters, watching her with intent. She's absorbed in her game, her headset snug over her ears, fingers darting across the keyboard.

She glances at him, irritation flickering across her face. "Either do something or leave. You're just sitting there, staring. That's creepy, man."

He holds her gaze, his voice low, his smile widening.

"Don't worry. I'll leave soon." Standing, he pushes the chair in with a deliberate scrape.

"Enjoy your game, if you can."

"Yeah, sure," she mutters, dismissing him as she turns back to her screen. Her focus snaps back to her game, missing the gleam in Ren's eye as he walks away to the counter.

At the counter, Ren tosses a hundred-dollar bill to the guy. "Keep the change," he says, his voice casual.

The cashier's eyes widen. "Thanks, man! Really appreciate it. Anything else I can help you with."

Ren nods, his attention already drifting toward a nearby door. "Yeah, restroom?"

The guy points to a corner. "Right there."

Ren steos to the restroom, shutting the door behind him. He stands before the mirror and stare at his reflection, his expression calm but his eyes gleaming with creepy excitement.

Taking a slow breath, he extends his hand and forms the shield around him, watching as his reflection fades, leaving nothing but empty space.

A faint grin tugs at his lips. The fun begins.

He steps out and back into the café, moving silently, weaving past tables until he's standing behind her, the girl he is after.

She doesn't even notice, she can't notice, her eyes glued to the screen, her lips moving as she barks commands to her team. Her energy is palpable, her intensity unwavering.

"Man, she is so focused," Ren thinks

He leans closer, his invisible form lingering just behind her shoulder. He raises his hand, brushing it over her hair softly. Her body stiffens for a moment, but she doesn't turn. She just shakes her head absently, and continue playing her game.

"How can she be so engrossed that she doesn't even notice. I bet she will keep playing even if the world gets destroyed."

Again, Ren leans ahead and exhales lightly near her ear.

She freezes, her hand immediately flying to her ear, swatting at the air. Spinning her head around, she scans the empty space behind her.

"What the hell…" she mutters, her voice edged with unease.

Her gaze lingers for a moment before she shakes her head and turns back to her game, muttering, "I'm losing it."

Ren smirks, his excitement building. This time, he leans closer, his breath a deliberate whisper against her neck. "Still losing?"

She yelps, jerking upright, her chair scraping the floor as she twists around. Her wide eyes dart over the space, her breathing quick and shallow.

"Who's there?" Her voice wavers, loud enough to catch the attention of a nearby people.

The other customer glances over but quickly loses interest, leaving her visibly unsettled. She grips her chair and sits back down, her hands trembling as they hover over the keyboard.

"Focus," she mutters to herself. "It's nothing. Just your imagination. It's just wind."

Ren is just standing back again, enjoying the scene, a creepy smile tugging at his lips. He waits until she's immersed in her game again, then reaches out, again.

He press his hand lightly against her headset, tapping few times on it. The strap shifts, causing her to flinch. She rips the headset off, glaring at it before looking around again.

"What's going on…" she whispers, her voice barely audible.

Something's wrong here. Of course something is. Things just happens sometimes that seem someone's doing them on purpose. But, if these things keep happening, then something is definitely wrong.

But, she is young, on top of that playing game. Means, untill something big happens, she will keep at it.

As she hesitates and tries to turn again, Ren touches the top of her head lightly, a barely-there sensation that makes her jump.

She stands abruptly, clutching her chair, her face pale. Her hands fly to her hair, patting it as though she expects to find something crawling.

"This isn't funny," she says louder, her voice shaky. She looks around the room, her eyes meeting nothing but indifferent gazes. She swallows hard, her knuckles white as they grip the chair.

"If someone's doing this in purpose, you aree in big trouble." She yells, people around her looking at her, clearly disturbed.

She sits back again, putting the headphone on again.

Ren is suppressing a chuckle, relishing her confusion. He leans in again and whispers, this time directly in her ear.

"Don't stop, keep going."

She screams, stumbling back into the desk. Her eyes dart wildly, her lips parted as she struggles to catch her breath. She stares at the air in front of her, her body rigid.

"Who's there? I swear, I'll call the cops!"

When no response comes, she clutches her bag and looks around one more time, her breathing uneven.

Now she knows there's definitely someone or something here, targeting only her. On top of that, she can't even see or understand how they are doing it, and that makes it wirse.

Deciding to get the hell away from there, she moves to the door. But, Ren is after her, staying close enough that she feels the faintest shift in air, her steps faltering as she glances over her shoulder.

As she reaches the exit, Ren flicks the strap of her bag with telekinesis. It slips off her shoulder, falling to the ground with a loud thud.

She shrieks, her head snapping back to stare at the fallen bag.

"No, no, no…" she mutters, her voice trembling as she crouches to pick it up. Her hands shake as she grabs it, clutching it tightly as she bolts out of the café without looking back.

Ren pauses at the door, watching her going down the street. His smile is wide, a satisfied glint in his eyes.

"Scared enough?" he whispers to himself, the thrill coursing through him.

"But you can't get away now, hehehehe."
