Chapter 9 - chapter 9 suspecioun

The day downs and Ren hops on his bike and heads home. He pedals slow as his muscles are aching. The day wasn't great, as always. It's all Eva, her yelling at him, looking down on him. Even though he knows it, it's still not easy. Ren arrives, parks his bike, and goes to his room. Just as he enters, his legs give out beneath him. His body feels like a dead weight, heavy and sluggish as if every muscle is screaming for rest.

He doesn't even bother turning on the lights; the dim afternoon sunlight filtering through the curtains is enough. He throws himself onto the bed, sinking into the mattress, his eyelids heavy. The exhaustion clings to him like a wet blanket, but he doesn't mind. He needs this—just a little break.

As he lies there, his mind drifts. Eva's face appears in the back of his thoughts. He can still see her, standing there, her rosy lips dripping with poisonous words. That image of her talking down to him. Then the image of Lina flashes before his eyes and a faint smile tugs at his lips, but it fades quickly. He sighs deeply, pushing the thoughts away.

Soon, fatigue washes over him in waves, pulling him under, and before he knows it, his eyes close, and the world goes silent.

Time flies by, and his eyes open. The ache in his muscles has dulled, though his limbs still feel weak. Sitting up, he runs a hand through his hair, blinking away the remnants of sleep.

Ahh, it's already morning, he sees the morning light filtering through the curtains.

He rolls his shoulders, testing the stiffness in his body. It's better now, bearable. He stands up and freshens up. He heads to the kitchen and grabs some bread to eat. And after finishing, he thinks, it's time. I need to practice. I need to grow quickly... Need to pay her back.

Pushing the thoughts aside, he comes to his room and stands in the middle, deciding to start small. His eyes land on the pen lying on his desk. It's an easy practice, something he's done many times already.

Ren flicks his finger, focusing on the pen—and it shoots into the air effortlessly.

For a moment, he just stares at it, hovering it in midair. But then, His breath catches with a sudden realization.

"That... can't be right," he mutters, more to himself than anything. He lowers the pen gently onto the desk and stares at it. I didn't focus much. There's no strain, no resistance. It just moved, like it weighed nothing.

His heart picks up speed, excitement replacing his confusion. He glances around the room, eyes darting from one object to the next. Testing. He needs to test it. His gaze settles on a cup by the window. With another flick of his finger, it floats. Just like the pen.

"I can move small objects... without even trying." The words feel strange on his tongue, disbelief coating every syllable.

The realization hits him all at once—his power has grown suddenly. But how, how did his power grow suddenly? His control over telekinesis is easy. Moving the cup doesn't even feel anything now. It's like he can just move it.

A grin breaks across his face, wide and uncontrollable. This is more than just a small improvement. His control, his strength—it's all so much better. It's as if the limits that once held him back have loosened.

Now, he has to know just how much more he can do.

Ren's attention shifts to the chair in the corner of the room. His pulse quickens. He's tried moving it before, and while he managed to move it, it always took quite a toll on his mind. Now, with this newfound ease, he wonders...

With a steady breath, he focuses on the chair, his fingers twitching in the air. There's a moment of resistance, but then the chair moves—slides across the floor smoothly. There's still effort involved, but nothing like before. It's lighter now as if the invisible barrier between him and his abilities has thinned somewhat.

It's a sudden improvement, but it's not enough. He needs to push further, he needs to be even better.

His eyes drift to the bed. He hasn't been able to move it, no matter how hard he tried. The weight of it is just too much, the strain unbearable. But now...

Ren raises his hand, his heart racing as he concentrates. The bed trembles, and for a split second, he thinks it won't work. But it does, it lifts—a few inches off the floor. His muscles tense, and his mind strains, but it's happening. He's moving it.

A laugh escapes him, breathless and incredulous. "It's still hard… but I'm doing it. The bed that didn't even budge before is now moving. Even though it's not enough, but still better than nothing, right."

He lowers the bed gently, sinking back onto it as his mind reels. What caused this sudden growth? His power didn't grow this quickly before. Even though it hasn't been long since he awakened this. There's still so much he doesn't know yet. But slowly and surely, he will understand what he has. That his power is not telekinesis but something he will understand one day.

His thoughts spiral as he tries to remember if anything significant happened recently. And then it hits him—his exhaustion.

"Was I so tired because my power was growing?" He leans back against the bed, thinking hard. That would explain it. It wasn't just the physical strain from the day; it was his body adapting, adjusting to something bigger, something stronger.

His excitement builds, bubbling up inside him. This isn't just a small improvement—this is real progress. The kind of leap he's been hoping for.

But there's one more test.

Ren quickly stands and steps to the middle of the room again, heart pounding. He's wondering—if he can move objects, heavy objects, and even make his body a bit lighter. Can he lift himself? Can he.... float?

The thought had seemed out of reach, too complex, but now, with this sudden newfound strength, maybe...

He takes a deep breath, centering his focus on his own body. Slowly, deliberately, he wills himself to rise. At first, nothing much happens. His feet stay on the ground, trembling somewhat. But suddenly—he feels it, the lightness increasing, slowly.

His feet lift an inch off the ground.

For a split second, he hovers, the sensation foreign and exhilarating. But just as quickly, he drops back down, landing unsteadily. His breath catches in his throat.

"I… I actually floated," he whispers aloud, staring at his feet in disbelief.

The excitement surges again, pushing him to try again. He has to try again. This time, he's more determined and focuses even more.

Then, he lifts off the ground again, higher this time. His body trembles, but he stays in the air for longer.

Again and again, he tries, each attempt bringing him closer to control. Each time, he floats a little higher, a little longer. The strain on his mind is intense, but the thrill outweighs it.

Finally, after many attempts, Ren reaches the ceiling. His hand brushes against it, fingers grazing the rough surface. His chest tightens with a mix of disbelief and pure joy.

He floats back down, panting but grinning like an idiot. "I did it… I can float."

His heart races, his mind spinning with the possibilities. Today—today's the best. Best day in a long time.

He is purely excited but it dips as he glances at the clock. It's Noon already. Damn it— I'm late for work, too late.

Ren rushes out the door, the excitement from his earlier success still buzzing in his veins. As he speeds down the street, he can't help but think about work. The dull, repetitive job that keeps him tied down, wasting his time when he could be honing his control.

But not for long. He's growing stronger, faster. Soon, he'll have enough power to leave that job behind. And when that happens...

A dark smile creeps onto his face as his thoughts shift to Eva. She won't be able to control him anymore. He'll finally have his revenge—his sweet, physical revenge. He can already picture it, the way she'll squirm under him, helpless and humiliated. She'll get what's coming to her.

He soon arrives and steps into the shop. Just as he does, Eva's voice cuts through the air like a knife. "You are late. Do you even want to work here? If not, just say it, and I'll fire you!"

Ren barely blinks at her outburst. He's too pleased with himself today to care. "Sorry about that," he says with a casual shrug. "I was feeling really tired today and overslept."

Eva glares at him, clearly not impressed. "Yeah, yeah, I've heard your excuses. Now move those boxes immediately and deliver these packages. You have many works to do."

Ren is surprised that she is just letting him go like this. What's happening today? She just let me go with just that.

Also, her sharp tone would've irritated him on any other day, but today, Ren just smiles inwardly. She has no idea. She doesn't know how much he's changed—how much stronger he is now.

As he moves the boxes, his mind starts to wander, and dark thoughts begin swirling. He could trip her. Make her fall flat on her face. Or maybe he could make small things fall on her—little annoyances that would drive her crazy. With his powers growing, the possibilities are growing as well.

After Ren finishes moving in the boxes, he grabs the packages and heads for the door, but not before spotting Eva walking away from the counter, busy with paperwork. A slow grin spreads across his face.

This is the moment.

With a flick of his finger, he trips her. It's quite easy. She stumbles and crashes to the ground with a loud thud. The sound echoes through the shop, and Ren barely holds back a laugh.

Everyone in the shop turns to look, and Eva's face turns bright red. She puts her hands down and forces herself to stand up. She looks back, confused. What is happening to me? What the hell is going on? There was no one behind me, but I felt like someone touched my feet... again. This has happened before too.

She sees Ren standing behind her in the distance. She looks at him. It happens whenever he is around. Is he.... But she just rushes to the ladies' room without a word.

Ren steps out of the shop, completely oblivious to her thoughts and with a little bit of suspicion in her. He just enjoys the dark satisfaction bubbling inside him.

"That's what you get," he mutters, his grin widening as he heads out for the deliveries.
