Chapter 17 - Garden of the Gods

Since arriving in Colorado Springs, Adele's way of life and mindset had changed significantly.

In the early mornings, she would stroll through the Garden of the Gods to gather her thoughts. After her walks, she helped Betty with chores around the lodge, sharing stories from their past.

During the day, she stayed inside the cabin, avoiding encounters with others while recording her research. However, in the evenings, when waves of longing for Daniel washed over her, she would pour her remorse and yearning into her journal.

In early December in Colorado Springs, the dawn at the Garden of the Gods was as beautiful and mysterious as a scene from a dream.

The cold morning air felt refreshing, and the dark sky gradually transformed into soft pastel colors. Just before the sun rose, the eastern sky brightened with pale pink and orange hues, while white clouds floated gently above.

In the stillness of the morning, the red sandstone rocks stood tall like sculptures of gods. As the early sunlight began to touch the rocks, they glowed with a golden light, revealing their grandeur. The surrounding trees were blanketed with a light layer of snow, creating the impression of stepping into a winter fairy tale.

As the cold morning air brushed against Adele's face, she wished for this moment to last forever. The Garden of the Gods had become a sanctuary for her to forget the pain of the past and find new hope. Here, Adele reflected on herself and dreamed of a future with her loved ones.
