"Finn," Ruby called sharply, breaking the uneasy silence. "What's the status on that thing? Are we any closer to figuring out where this Shadow freak is hiding?"
Finn didn't look up. "If you want me to make progress, you might try not yelling at me every five minutes."
Ruby's eyes narrowed, but Caleb spoke before she could respond. "Cut him some slack, Ruby. We've all been through hell, and snapping at each other isn't helping."
"Helping?" Ruby turned to him, her voice low but laced with anger. "What's not helping is wasting time while the Shadow grows stronger. We don't have the luxury of waiting around for Finn to play IT guy."
"Hey," Finn interjected, his tone defensive. "This 'IT guy' is the only reason we even know what the Shadow's next move might be. So maybe ease off."
