Chapter 44 - JULIAN

Present Time,

After my lectures for the day, I was opportune to find Professor Acheron in his office.

As I was about to enter his office -after two giggly coursemates of mine emerged and I had knocked - Julian, who was right behind me, wanted to come in also.

"No, you have to wait here. I won't be long, I promise," I said, assuring him.

But still, he wasn't convinced.

"Order from Mr Ragnar says that I should have eyes on you all the time, except when you want to use the restroom. And even then, a maximum of twelve minutes, just should in case you need to do number two you know.

Aside from that instance, I must be glued to you, Miss," Julian said.

He was back to being very professional.

During my classes, I thought he would wait outside the lecture halls for me but I was misinformed.

It seemed Kamaz had contacted the authorities of the school because the lecturers did not pick on the fact that someone clad in a dark suit, with dark shades, the shoulder of a gorilla - no offense - and the height of a wall, was brooding close to my seat.

For my second class, I had to make him sit beside me so that that way, it would stop seeming like he was glowering over the students and my lecturer.

His presence had caused a stir and some students were staring at him rather than learning.

I'm certain I'll be the new object of rumor.

"I'll be in for twelve minutes. Consider the office as a restroom, and if I'm in for more than twelve minutes, then you can barge right through the door.

But for now, you stay right here," I said, one hand on the knob of the door.

Before he could say anything else, I slipped into Professor Acheron's office and shut it on his face before he could put his hand.

I knew he was going to call Falkur immediately and so I hurried over to a smiling Professor Acheron - well, he is always smiling.

"Good day, Sir," I saluted as I got to one of the seats opposite his desk.

"Good day, Zeda. How are you faring?" He asked as he stood up from his seat and began to walk over to me.

"I'm good Sir. I don't have much time to spend right now. I uhm…just need to ask some questions regarding Friday," I said as I ran a hand along the sling of my bag.

"Have a seat, Zeda," Acheron said as he pointed at a chair close to him.

He sat down and so did Zeda.

"I can't remember what happened that night Sir. Was there a bomb or a detonator somewhere?

The last thing I remember is touching the Pipa and then the sudden light that surrounded the room and blasted us off." Zeda said watching Professor Acheron intently.

"The Police and Investigation Department could not find anything unusual and they can't tell what could have triggered such to happen.

I feel so terrible for taking you there.

If I had not, you would not have been injured and…" Professor Acheron said and he lifted his hand to touch the healing cut on her cheek.

But Zeda moved backward on her chair.

"It's fine. Mr Ragnar made sure I received the best care." Zeda said with a smile as she remembered how worried his face was when she woke up and how he had threatened Dr Adam to treat her properly.

'He can be such an aggressive gentleman!' She thought, her cheeks having a slight taint of rosy pink in them.

Acheron's countenance darkened on hearing her speak of Kamaz.

"This boss of yours seems to be really protective of you," Acheron said with a tight smile, his hand squeezing the armrest of the chair.

Zeda blushed harder.

"Yes, something like that.

He is just really protective of his workers.

Did he…. Did he give you any trouble because of the incident?" Zeda asked.

"Not really.

He just sent some persons to find out about me. That's all!" Acheron said, as composed as he could to make it sound plain.

Zeda's mouth hung open for a total of three seconds because she had nothing to say.

She swallowed.

"I'm sorry about that Professor.

I'll make sure that doesn't repeat itself. Oh my GOD!

But… how are you doing Sir? It's a miracle that you were able to pull both of us out. But I think you sustained some injuries" Zeda said as she raked her eyes around his body parts her eyes could scan.

A sweet feeling spread in his chest. He almost smiled like a teenager would at a compliment from a girl he was enamored with.

But before he could respond to Zeda's once-in-a-lifetime question of care, Julian burst in through the door.

"Twelve minutes are done, Miss Zeda," Julian said, completely ignoring the Professor.

"What…Julian…but I was just right in the middle of the conversation" Zeda complained.

Professor Acheron's eyes charged ferociously at Julian and Julian's fell on him daringly.

Zeda could feel the change in the air.

"It will take just five minutes Julian. As you can see, I'm very alright, and no harm has come my way," Zeda pressed.

"Mr Falkur said Mr Ragnar will arrive here during those five minutes. He will be the one to carry you out from the office and to your room in the mansion. It's your choice, Miss," Julian said.

"There's no way he can be here in five minutes right?" Zeda said with a wave of her hand. Julian arched one of his brows like Zeda was trying to make a dare.

"Alright fine. Argggh!" Zeda groaned as she stood up. Acheron also stood up.

"It was nice seeing you today Zeda. We'll see tomorrow," He said, and before Zeda could say a word, he pulled her in for a hug.

He looked at Julian with a lop-sided smirk, knowing that this would get to the ears of Kamaz.

Zeda was shocked because she was not expecting it, and after two seconds, she put her hands between them and eased out of the hug.

"Bye Professor!" She said before she briskly turned and walked through the opened door. Julian slammed the door so hard behind him that the walls quaked and Acheron cussed at him.

"The bastard!"
