' Ugh why did I kiss him what's wrong with me. I hope he doesn't ask me about it today.'
Tabitha was lying in her bed reflecting on how her actions would have affected thier relationship. Well she'd just have to find out now.
She got up from her bed and made her way towards the bathroom and applied toothpaste to her toothbrush and began brushing her teeth. Looking at herself in the mirror she began thinking.
' Am I getting fat. What would he think about me.... No I don't care about what he thinks.'
She raised up her shirt and tug at the loose skin on her stomach showing that she was indeed getting fat. Which shouldn't be possible due to the running they engage in. Nonetheless she decided to do some light exercises.
She took off her top revealing her white fishnet lingerie. She proceeded to change into a pink spandex short and started off with some streches.
After a while she moved to sqauts. In the middle of this particular exercise, she heard a knock on the door.
' Ohh great my food's here, hopefully she got exactly what I asked.'
Without changing her clothes she opened the door only to reveal the last person she would have wanted to be at the door. It was Adam.
At first she was confused then she came to a sudden realization and slammed the door on his face. With her back against the wall she screamed.
" You pervert!!"
"I'm sorry I didn't know!"
' Oh no he saw me, that fool. No reason dwelling on it now let me put on some clothes and see what he wants.'
*Creak*
The door creaked open slowly showing that Tabitha had changed into a white tee with a black leather jacket and army pants with.
" What do you want." She asked in her usual calm demeanour as if nothing ever happened.
" Err... I wanted to see if anyone could explain what caused the apocalypse and for how long it has happened." Adam replied stammering a little.
"Go meet Mr Michael I'm sure you've met." As she finished speaking she started to close the door but was met with some resistance in form of Adam's boot.
" I'd also like to speak with you if you don't mind." He said his tone more serious.
------
In the park Adam and Tabitha were sitting on the grass and the miniature park both cross legged in a meditative form.
Without hesitation Adam kicked off the conversation.
" So why'd you kiss me yesterday?"
" I don't know."
" How wouldn't you know, I mean yeah it's not like I didn't enjoy it. It just doesn't fit your whole cool girl gimmick."
" Who said that it was a gimmick. Anyways I kissed you because I felt like it."
Adam didn't believe anything she said just now but he decided to just agree to avoid angering her. " Alright so are you gonna do it again or ...."
" Maybe." She was starting to stand as she spoke. " Head to the Doc's place, I think he might have something for your amnesia as well. Just don't disturb him when he's in the basement."
"Ok thanks."
' What a strange lady, before she was mad at me now she hints at a relationship. I don't know if I should go with it or not... Nah I still need to get my memories, first priority."
*******
On one of the watch towers Marcus could be seen with a Sako TRG 22 A1--a sniper rifle.
The soft hues of dawn painted the sky in shades of orange and pink, the early morning light casting a warm glow over the deserted outpost. He leaned against the railing of the lookout tower, the faint curl of cigar smoke rising lazily into the crisp air. Below, the world was eerily still. The cracked asphalt of the main road leading to the gates lay empty, flanked by overgrown grass and rusted cars. Beyond the sturdy walls of the compound, the desolation stretched endlessly, but for once, it didn't feel oppressive. It felt… calm.
His sniper rifle rested beside him, its barrel catching the morning light. He wasn't expecting trouble, but old habits died hard. After all, vigilance was what had kept him alive this long. He took a slow drag from his cigar, savoring the quiet. The wind carried the faint scent of the wildflowers growing beyond the walls, a strange contrast to the decay he'd grown used to.
The world had gone to hell, but up here, with the sun rising over the horizon and the distant hum of insects filling the air, it almost felt peaceful. Almost. He stayed alert, scanning the tree line, just in case.
And it was then that he saw something. He couldn't quite make out what it was but judging by the movement he knew it wasn't a zombie. He took up his rifle and decided to scope it out. He swept the scope left and right looking for anything suspicious. Just when he thought everything was clear he caught something from the corner of his eye.
A glint he was ever so familiar with being from the military. It was the reflection of the sun on the scope of an enemy sniper. He placed his gun down and decided to play dumb lest a bullet is sent through his brain. He stayed at the window of the lookout for a while before deciding to come down and very carefully not arousing any suspicion.
As soon as he got down he marched over to a landline at the bottom of the tower and dailed a number.
*Ring Ring*
"Hey Evelyn, we've got a code red on our hands."
Evelyn replied from the other line, " Snipe them."
Marcus paused for a moment. It isn't easy to take someone's life yet she said it to him so plainly. It made him wonder if she had any remorse whatsoever.
"Okay."
With reluctance he climbed back up the tower and readied himself. He fitted a scope cover on the scope of the rifle and positioned himself. He looked back at where the glint came from before and he couldn't find the person. He continued searching but to no avail.
*Whizz*
A bullet grazed past his cheek drawing blood. Adam had turned his head just in time for it to miss him. Adam was startled but didn't panic. His composure is what was going to let him win this fight.
A fight between snipers isn't something as simple a just spraying bullets around. If he did that he would be dead the next minute. In a snipers battle one must be able to read his enemy's position. Simply put once he fires a bullet ,the other sniper will have a advantage as he has revealed his position and he will be killed, however, this only applies to those of mediocre talent. An experienced sniper switches his body position after a shot.
But Marcus wasn't paying attention his enemy's position. But he did had one thing he could use to triumph. He had an amazing knowledge of geometry which he used to calculate the possible location of his foe.
*Thwick*
He fired his own suppressed round which didn't hit his target but made him flinch showing the glint of his scope. It was an opportunity which Marcus didn't miss as he fired again. He dropped the gun and picked up his binoculars and saw that the person was dead but what saw next frightened him. There were 3 individuals heavily armed at the gate, but that was the least of his worries, up ahead was a large herd of zombies of about a hundred most likely lured there by the group about a hundred or so metres away.
The man with the scar on his face pulled out a gun. But it wasn't just any gun, it was a .460 Weatherby Magnum famously known for being the loudest gun in the world emitting a 170 to 180 decibels.
He raised the gun up and fired two shots.
*Bang Bang*
It caught the attention of the herd of zombies which began their walk of death towards them. Marcus tried to get out of the watch tower to warn them but he felt the cold touch of a gun at the back of his head.
"You move and you die."
Marcus was distressed he couldn't move to go warn everyone about the impending doom. Is this how he was going to watch as his friends get used as breakfast?
