As they sped away from the hospital, Adam's questions poured out. "What's happening? What are those things?"
Tabitha's eyes darted between the road and the rearview mirror. "They're... infected. Whatever caused this, it spread fast. We've lost control."
Adam's mind reeled. "How many are out there?"
Tabitha hesitated. "Too many. Thousands, maybe more."
Their car screeched around a corner, and Adam grabbed the door handle. "Where are we going?"
"A safe house," Tabitha replied.
They arrived at a modest two-story house on the outskirts of Manhattan. As they stepped out, Adam noticed the eerie silence.
Suddenly, a horde of infected appeared, drawn by the car's noise. Tabitha pulled Adam toward the house.
"Inside, now!"
Adam stumbled after her, slamming the door shut behind them. They leaned against it, panting.
A voice echoed from upstairs. "Tabitha, what's going on?"
"Marcus!" Tabitha called back.
A ruggedly built man descended the stairs, gun at the ready.
"Who's this?" Marcus asked, eyeing Adam.
Tabitha explained, "I found him at the hospital. He doesn't remember anything."
Marcus's gaze narrowed. "What's your name?"
"Adam," he replied.
Marcus's hand snapped to his holster, and Adam found himself staring down the barrel of a gun.
"What the—"
"Marcus, stop!" Tabitha intervened.
Marcus's jaw clenched. "We can't trust him. He could be one of them."
Adam's hands raised in defense. "I'm not... I don't know what's happening!"
Tabitha stepped between them. "Marcus, put the gun down. He's not infected."
Marcus lowered the gun but didn't holster it. "Explain yourself, Adam."
Adam's desperation boiled over. "I don't know! I woke up in the hospital with no memory. I don't know who I am or what's happening!"
Marcus's expression softened slightly. "Okay, Adam. We'll help you figure it out."
But Adam's hope was dwindling. "What's the point? I don't even know who I am."
Tabitha placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "We'll help you find out. Together."
Marcus holstered his gun. "First, we need to secure this place. We can't stay here long."
As they began to barricade the house, Adam's thoughts spiraled into darkness. Who was he? What had he done?
"Hey dumbass get moving you wanna die" Marcus interrupted his thoughts.
"Uh no sorry"
"Good cos we'll have to fight our way through all these cold bloods" Marcus said with determined look
"What through that we.. we're gonna die"
"Hell no we're gonna live" he replied with a grin on his face
'He's crazy they all are' Adam thought
"Hey guys" Tabitha called out from up the stairs
"Come up I think I've found a way out" she gestured towards them to come
"Thank God let's go Marcus" Adam said with a sigh of relief
Marcus looking up at Tabitha and towards the door that could fall any second.
With a reluctancy he moved"Damn it fine let's go before the shit hits the fan"
They raced up the stairs towards the top of the building and braced the door with a plank they found on the roof
With a confused look Adam asked. "So where is the way out."
Tabitha answered pointing at the wires on the roof leading to another building.
"Hell yeah like riding a zip line." Marcus answered with a smile on his face.
"Hey this is stupid we could die from this." Adam had fear written all over his face.
Walking towards him Marcus pointed towards the door which was being pounded on by the undead.
"This is a like betting you feel me... that door is like picking England not to win over Korea while that wire is like picking England to score one goal and picking England to score seems like the best option so what are you gonna choose dumbass"
Looking at the door Adam knew there was no choice so he nodded agreeing to Marcus's theory.
"Good so now you're going first."
"What I'm not gonna go first." Adam disagreed
"Stop being a prick and go Tabitha has gone already."
Adam looked over Marcus's shoulder and saw Tabitha waving at him from the building.
"Ughhhh... Fuckin... fine I'm going."
Adam remove his belt from his waist and jumped on the line so that the belt caught him but Marcus jumped on his backed laughing wildly.
"Woo yeah baby hahaha." Marcus laughed
Upon making it to the other side Adam gave Marcus a dirty look.
"Comon' can't you loosen up a little."
" Hey dickheads you done playing we made it here but we still gotta make it back to our camp." Tabitha urged them
"Yeah let's get outta here." Adam agreed
