This is definitely a bad omen. My heart trembled in pain as I was still in a staring competition with this stranger from the hotel.
"Good day sir, I'm Elena Grada and I'm here for the interview. Here are my credentials" I stretched out the files to him pretending like I've not met him before.
"You may have your seat" he offered my a seat and sat opposite me staring at me intently.
I watched as he went through my files and I couldn't overlook how he nodded his head impressively. Guess my pretense worked after all.
He proceeded to ask few questions which I provided appropriate answers to. My heart suddenly began palpitating again as I anticipated his verdict.
"Are you really going to pretend like you do not know me?" He smiled at me resting his hand on the table and placing his chin on his hands.
"I sincerely don't" I lied.
"Are you really sure ma'am" his smiles became broader making me feel anxious.
"Screw you Elena. How could you treat a total stranger like that? Why did you use your own hands to ruin yourself?"
"Your honesty depends on whether or not you'd be getting this job" he interrupted my moment of chastising myself.
This is so bad and unfortunate!
"I forgot to always add that your breath can kill fishes if collected as a spray and was sprayed in water bodies" he insulted me in the most embarrassing way ever.
I sat still not having any strength in me to even utter any statement. Who does he think he is?.
"But you attested to it that your breath was stinking" my subconsciousness reminded me making me wish I could enter into the ground at that moment.
"I think we can just call this a staring interview" he took my silence seriously and began staring at me making me more embarrassed.
"You started it" I filed making him surprised at my abrupt statement.
"Why would you call me a whore?" I asked.
"Why were you on my bed naked?" He responded with a question.
"Shit might have happened between us but that does not give you any right to judge me. You know little or nothing about me so I'd have nobody especially not a pompous ugly creature to insult me and call me names" I told him confidently.
"Don't you need this job any longer?" My thoughts questioned.
Well, I don't care any longer. There are many vacant positions in different companies. I'd probably resume job hunting tomorrow while I'd go for my shifts later in the evenings.
"You're hired" he announced. Because of what had transpired, I did not feel excited anymore about the news. It was sure one to be grateful for but I wished I had left earlier.
"Thank you sir" I bowed and made to leave making a mental note of resetting my alarm so i'd wake up early the next day.
"Bring me coffee" my heels halted.
"You're starting work today" he stood up to a desk behind him.
"Well except you want me to get another secretary" he sat down back without even sparing me a glance.
What on earth was this day designed to be?
I sat on the chair that had my title on it. After dropping my bag, I went out navigating my way through the big company. Who the hell prepares coffee on the first day they resume work?
"He's sure bent on making your life miserable" I told myself as I almost missed a step. Soon, I located the espresso machine. I walked back to the office slowly calculating my steps.
"Here it is sir" I presented it to him.
He took a sip and spat it away squeezing his face in disgust.
"Too much milk" he complained.
"Make another one" he ordered.
This was totally unbelievable. Although I lost my mum at an early age, I learnt a lot from her before her demise. Mum knew how to make coffee so well that no one ever complained. She even taught me well so much that every restaurant I worked at were not willing to dismiss me despite my clumsiness. They were able to retain their customers because of my coffee and one idiot says it's tasting bland. How annoying!
I made another one and went to him. After giving him, I went to my seat. Just then, he spat it out again.
"Too much sugar" he shoved it away from his side signalling me to make another one. After six more attempts, he finally drank it not before giving me an evil smirk and light wicked laughter.
What exactly have I gotten myself into?
"Good day sir, the investors have sent in their reports and they are waiting for your acceptance" a lady entered. I looked at her in disgust as she adjusted her brassieres cup to push for pairs forward than the clothing was intended to bear.
"I'd do that and get back to them" he replied sparing her a short glance.
She hesitated to leave as she made body gestures suggesting flirting and sexual body languages. I felt disgusted that I was moved to speak to her.
"He said you can leave" I gave her a demeaning look and she didn't fail to reciprocate.
She finally left and he started laughing.
"What's so funny Mr Stephen Colbert?" I asked feeling irritated already.
"Are you perhaps already claiming me just because of a one night stand?" He asked sheepishly. I saw a disappointed expression on his face when I did not reply him. Guess that's what I'd continuing doing. I would just keep quiet anytime he tries to get me with his words.
"I need you to work on something for me Miss Elena" he said and I worked over to his desk.
"I need you to sort out these files" he showed me a heap of files and I could bet a million dollars that my heart stopped working for a moment.
"This is so ridiculous. We have computers in the building. Who still does paperworks?" I questioned frustratedly.
"So you finally have the mouth to reply me after keeping mute all the while?" He smiled.
"And I need a report on them in the morning. Besides that, I'd need you to go through the investors reports and tell me what I can make out of it. Enjoy your day Miss Elena" he left the office.
"Someone just kill me" I slumped on my chair.
