Chapter 2 - Pink zone

Kai and Danger arrived at the bridge leading into the Frozen Zone as night fell. Danger sensed something ominous lurking in the dark, realizing the bridge would be too dangerous to cross at night. When Kai insisted they go on, Danger quickly ran to the sand and scratched a message: Let's find a place to rest. Kai, understanding, spotted a small house nearby.

They approached the house, and after knocking with no answer, they cautiously stepped inside. The house seemed empty, so Kai set down his backpack in the living room. Danger's thoughts ran wild as he looked around, thinking, What a cozy place—and nobody's here!

But the next morning, a girl their age appeared, holding a knife, clearly thinking someone had broken into her home. Seeing Kai and Danger asleep, she moved closer, ready to confront them. Suddenly, Kai's Zone 0 activated, sensing her approach and slowing her movements to a standstill. Confused, the girl struggled, her own powers within the Pink Zone activating in response. She was from the Fast Zone, and her pink aura glowed as she fought against Kai's defensive field.

"Who are you, and why did you break into my house?" she demanded, as Kai released her from Zone 0.

Kai raised his hands, attempting to calm her. "Oh, this is your house? I thought it was empty… Where are your parents?"

At the mention of her parents, the girl's face turned cold. "Shut up," she snapped.

Realizing he'd struck a nerve, Kai replied, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset you." Danger meowed softly, sensing the tension.

"Don't be sorry," she said bitterly. "They left me to join that stupid war. And now, they're dead because of it."

Kai, saddened, said, "I understand. I've lost my family too—my mother, my father, and my sister."

The girl's anger softened, though she still tried to mask it. "Why don't you hate them, then? They left you."

Kai shook his head. "How can I hate them when they did nothing wrong to me? I don't even know if they truly left me or if they tried to protect me."

Rolling her eyes, she crossed her arms. "Whatever. So why are you here?"

"We wanted to cross the bridge, but it was too late, so we knocked at the door, but… we thought nobody was home," Kai explained.

"There was someone here," she replied, giving Danger a wary glance. "My fish."

Kai scratched his head awkwardly. "Sorry, we'll get going then."

But as they moved to leave, Kai and Danger felt something pull them back. Her Pink Zone created a barrier, her power instinctively responding to her emotions by trapping them. The girl glared, realizing what was happening as her zone tightened.

"You're not going anywhere," she said, her tone daring them to try.
