"She said she's sorry and the incident wasn't entirely her fault, you saw her right there before trying to overtake her and I suggest you visit your driving etiquette regarding the use of passing lanes" the voice said and the man turned abruptly to see who stood before him and he immediately went mute and left without ultering another word to Carissa who was surprised by the man's action and wondered who the prince charming that came to her rescue in the form of an angel was.
"Hey"!! The voice said pulling her out of her thought
"Hi!! thanks for helping out" Carissa said
"It's always my pleasure to help a pretty angel like you" he said and Carissa beamed with smile "I'm Andy George by name" Andy said stretching his hand for a shake
"Carissa Jones" Carissa said and wrapped her palms around his in a shake "wait a minute! did you say your name is Andy George"?? Carissa asked twitching her brow
"yes and how can an angel like you not recognize who I am in public"? Andy asked
"oh my goodness"!! Carissa gasped "I'm a huge fan" Carissa said smiling
"I guess you're happy to finally meet me in person"? Andy asked while using his eyes to survey her body
"Off course I am by the way I was heading out, hope to see you some other time" Carissa said entering back into her car
___
Later that day, Carissa was stepping out of a restaurant when a tall, suited man approached her.
"Excuse me, ma'am," he said politely. "My boss would like a moment of your time."
"Who's your boss?" Carissa asked, looking around.
Before he could respond, a deep, familiar voice intervened. "You may leave."
Stuart Brown stepped forward, his authoritative presence unmistakable. Carissa's eyes narrowed as she crossed her arms.
"Can we talk somewhere private?" he asked.
"I don't have anything to say to you. Just because you're rich doesn't mean you get to control everything."
Stuart sighed. "Look, I know what happened was horrible. But if you'd help me get another chance with Katelyn, I'd truly appreciate it."
"You want my help?" Carissa asked, arching an eyebrow.
Stuart nodded. "Please. I never meant to hurt her. If you can help us meet, I promise not to let you down."
"ohh wow! I see what you're doing right there huh? You want to use me to get my best friend right? I don't think I can help you out with this, besides she's still trying to heal, she waited twenty six years and you come out of no where and took everything away from her, do you know how hurt she is right now? She see's herself as a loser all because of you" Carissa yelled calmly to avoid attracting attention
"Please I really need to make it up to her but you have to help me out, what I did was terrible and I accept my mistake but I need to see her in person if not for anything but at least apologize for the pain I've caused her within the past couple of days" Stuart pleaded in shame, he cursed himself inwardly for his actions and just pray Carissa would see reasons with him
"What would you do to make up for what you have done?" Carissa asked
"I promise to protect her with my life if you give me the opportunity to meet her again" Stuart quickly promised, for some reason he seemed not to care about himself for a moment but Katelyn's
After a moment of hesitation, Carissa agreed, seeing her best friend's happiness on the line.
"I'm not promising anything," she said, "but for my best friend, I'll try my best and you better protect her with your life or I will make you regret and when that time comes make sure you don't fight back" With that, she left, leaving Stuart with a glimmer of hope.
Katelyn's POV
That weekend, Katelyn went shopping with her mom, trying to shake off thoughts of Stuart.
"I'm glad you decided to get out for a bit," her mom, Betty, said as they walked.
"Mom, please, I just need a break from all that, so you have to stop bringing it up" Katelyn sighed.
Betty chuckled. "Sweetheart, there's no shame in what happened. And besides, it's not entirely his fault. If it really bothers you, maybe hear him out, or at least don't let him scare you off your dream job."
Katelyn remained quiet, considering her mother's words.
Just then, Betty's phone rang. "Hi, Carissa!" she answered with a smile. After a brief exchange, she passed the phone to Katelyn.
"Hey, girl," Katelyn said, grinning.
"Where's your phone, woman? I've been calling you," Carissa teased.
Katelyn laughed. "Must've been on silent."
"I need you here this weekend. No clubs, I swear," Carissa pleaded.
"Still not buying it," Katelyn replied, amused.
Betty chuckled and added, "Don't worry, Carissa. She's coming over. I'll help her pack."
"Mom!" Katelyn groaned, rolling her eyes, but a small smile tugged at her lips.
