Chapter 71 - Chapter 71: A New Beginning

The days following Rohit and Aditi's announcement were a whirlwind of excitement. The decision to marry had sent a wave of energy through both families, and it seemed as though every conversation now revolved around their upcoming wedding.

One morning, as Aditi sat with her mother, Kavita, sipping tea in their newly updated living room, the atmosphere felt light and joyful. The renovation of their home was complete, and in a way, it mirrored the renewal in her own life. Her relationship with Rohit had blossomed into something so profound, it seemed only natural that this next step would come.

"So, have you thought about dates yet?" Kavita asked, a mischievous glint in her eye. "I can already tell your father is itching to make it official, especially after all the updates we've made to the house. He wants to see the home buzzing with celebration."

Aditi laughed, knowing her father's pride in their home was second only to his love for family. "We've talked about it, but nothing's set yet. Rohit mentioned maybe doing it sooner rather than later, though. Neither of us wants a long engagement."

Kavita nodded, a soft smile playing on her lips. "That sounds like Rohit. He's always been sure of what he wants. And now, it seems like he's just as sure about you."

Aditi blushed, feeling the warmth spread across her cheeks. "I guess so. It feels right, though. Like everything in my life has led up to this moment."

Across town, in the Kapoor household, a similar conversation was happening. Rohit and his mother, Meera, were seated in the garden, enjoying the crisp morning air.

"Your father and I are so happy for you, Rohit," Meera said, her voice filled with affection. "I've watched you grow from a boy to a man, and now you've found the person you want to spend your life with. It's a mother's dream come true."

Rohit smiled, feeling the weight of his mother's words. "I've been thinking a lot about the future, Mom. Aditi and I have both worked so hard in our careers, but coming back here, being with her, it's reminded me that there's so much more to life than just work."

Meera nodded, understanding the shift in her son's perspective. "Your father and I have always believed that family is the most important thing. Your careers will always be there, but the moments you share with the people you love—those are the ones that matter the most."

As the days passed, both families began making preparations for the engagement ceremony. The excitement was infectious, with both houses buzzing with the sound of discussions about the guest list, caterers, and décor. But amid all the planning, there was one moment that stood out to Aditi and Rohit—a quiet conversation between their fathers.

Vikram Sharma and Arvind Kapoor had shared a bond since childhood, and now, as they stood side by side in the garden of the Sharma home, there was a palpable sense of pride between them.

"You know," Arvind said, looking over at Vikram, "I always hoped our kids would end up together. It's funny how life works out sometimes."

Vikram chuckled, nodding in agreement. "I know what you mean. Aditi and Rohit have always had a connection. Even when they were little, you could see it. And now, seeing them like this—it's like everything has come full circle."

Arvind smiled, a sense of contentment settling over him. "We've been lucky, Vikram. To see our children find happiness in each other—it's more than we could have ever asked for."

A few weeks later, the engagement ceremony was upon them. The Sharma and Kapoor homes, now beautifully updated, were decorated with vibrant flowers and twinkling lights. The air was filled with the sound of laughter and music, as friends and family gathered to celebrate Aditi and Rohit's union.

As the evening sun dipped below the horizon, Aditi stood in front of the mirror, dressed in a stunning pink and gold lehenga, her hair adorned with delicate jasmine flowers. She felt a flutter of nerves, but also an overwhelming sense of happiness.

There was a knock at the door, and when she turned, she saw her brother, Karan, standing there, smiling at her. "You look amazing, Di," he said, his voice filled with pride.

Aditi smiled, walking over to him. "Thanks, Karan. I'm just glad you're here for all of this. It wouldn't feel right without you."

Karan grinned, giving her a quick hug. "I wouldn't miss it for the world. Rohit's a lucky guy."

In the Kapoor household, Rohit was having a similar moment with his father. Dressed in a cream-colored sherwani, he stood in front of the mirror, adjusting his collar. Arvind entered the room, watching his son with a look of pride.

"You look like a prince," Arvind said, his voice filled with emotion.

Rohit smiled, turning to face his father. "Thanks, Dad. I can't believe this is really happening."

Arvind placed a hand on his son's shoulder, his eyes soft. "You're about to start a new chapter, Rohit. And I know you and Aditi are going to build something beautiful together."

The engagement ceremony itself was a beautiful, intimate affair. The two families exchanged gifts, and Rohit and Aditi performed the traditional rituals, their eyes never leaving each other. There was a sense of peace between them, as if everything had fallen into place exactly as it was meant to.

Later that evening, as the guests began to depart and the lights twinkled in the night, Aditi and Rohit found a quiet moment alone in the garden.

"Can you believe we're engaged?" Aditi whispered, her fingers lacing through Rohit's.

Rohit smiled, pulling her close. "It feels like a dream. But I wouldn't want to be anywhere else, with anyone else."

They stood there in the stillness, the stars above them twinkling like a promise of all that was to come. Their journey together had only just begun, but already, it felt like they were home.
