Chapter 31: Back to present.
Niel materialized outside Alawis' Room, nodding at Valtira before vanishing together. They reappeared in a grand hall, where Alawis was declared a middle-sinner.
Seated majestically on his throne, Niel commanded attention. Lyrian, Valtira, and his three Deacons stood before him, bowing in unison to show respect.
"Lord Niel," Lyrian began, "my spies and Priestess Veron confirm that Lord Golax has returned, bringing chaos."
Niel's eyes remained closed, his expression unreadable.
Valtira stepped forward. "Additionally, strange occurrences are happening in the distant tower, far from this city."
A demon burst in, bowing deeply to Niel and then the others. "Reporting to Lord Niel... it's confirmed: Lord Golax was spotted above the tower."
Niel's eyes snapped open, piercing the demon.
"He seeks audience with you within 10 hours," the demon continued, "or he'll unleash chaos throughout the land, starting here."
The hall fell silent.
Lyrian's voice was laced with concern. "Lord Niel, Golax's return and these tower disturbances... what does it mean?"
Niel's gaze swept across his advisors. "Summon the Council. We will discuss our course of action."
Valtira nodded. "I'll prepare the Council Chamber."
The Deacons dispersed to carry out Niel's orders.
As the hall emptied, Niel's eyes locked onto Lyrian. "Find out what Golax wants. I won't be threatened."
Lyrian bowed. "I'll gather intelligence, Lord Niel."
Niel's attention shifted to Valtira. "Investigate the tower. Uncover the source of these disturbances."
Valtira's determination was evident. "I'll leave immediately, Lord Niel."
The demon who reported Golax's message remained, awaiting dismissal.
Niel's voice was low and menacing. "Tell Golax... I'll hear him out. But if he thinks to intimidate me, he's mistaken."
The demon bowed and hastened to deliver Niel's response.
As the hall cleared, Niel's thoughts turned to the Star Shatterer and his destiny.
