Chapter 24: Reunion with Lucifer

Niel materialized in a dark hall, where a majestic throne sat. A figure rose from the throne, approaching Niel.

Lucifer, the Devil himself, stood before Niel, his eyes shining with pride. "I'm proud of you, Niel."

Niel's expression remained stoic, nodding once.

Any other demon would have trembled in fear, worshiping the greatest legend, Lucifer. But Niel's gaze remained steady.

Lucifer's voice filled with nostalgia. "Your father would be proud too, Niel."

Niel nodded again, his face emotionless.

Lucifer's eyes turned distant. "Your father was like a brother to me... a true friend."

Niel's gaze snapped up, his teeth gnashing. "Who killed my parents?"

Lucifer's expression turned grave. "Rogue demons, the strongest of our kind. They were created alongside your father and me since the beginning of time."

Niel's voice was low and menacing. "How did my father die? He's immortal."

Lucifer's voice heavy with sorrow. "He sacrificed his Star Heart, shattering it and extinguishing his flame to keep you safe."

Niel's eyes blazed with anger. "And where were you?"

Lucifer's gaze dropped, regret etched on his face. "I was focused on my mission... I never thought your father would leave Hell for her."

Niel's questions were cut off by Lucifer. "Enough. You've grown so much... I still remember the day you stood lifeless."

Lucifer's eyes misted. "Look at you now – the strongest demon below me."

Niel bowed respectfully. "Thank you, Lucifer."

Lucifer's gaze turned serious. "I need you to protect Hell. You're the most worthy of all."

"I must carry out my mission and seek revenge," Lucifer continued.

Niel's eyes narrowed. "Who is it? Tell me, and I'll take care of that being."

Lucifer shook his head. "No, that creature has tricked and double-crossed me. It's the most cunning being I know."

Niel's curiosity piqued. "A creature more cunning than the Devil?"

Lucifer's smile was faint. "Maybe you'll meet someday, but you need to grow stronger to face that being."

Niel nodded, determination burning within.

Lucifer handed Niel a small, intricately carved box. "A gift – a tower to monitor and destroy rogue demons in Hell."

"In a century, you'll break through to Stage 1 of the Dark Star Realm," Lucifer predicted.

Niel bowed deeply. "Thank you."

Lucifer's smile warmed. "No, thank you for giving me a chance to make this right and becoming a father figure."

As Lucifer vanished, Niel heard a fleeting whisper. "Say hello to Lyrian for me."

Niel bowed, his expression serious.

He gazed into the distance, his heart's Star burning darker. "I'll make those responsible pay for what they've done."
