Chapter 7 - Chapter seven Doctor's appointment

Anna waited a long time before slowly climbing down,' they would be long gone now,' she thought.

She struggled with the window for sometime before it finally gave way. She jumped down heading home.

It was dark already, her whole body ached. 'She'd been in that place for hours now,' she thought as she walked hurriedly. She didn't know why but she just felt that Augustus had nothing to do with the king accident, or did he?

The comment he made about William not being king pointed out that he had nothing to do with the king accident, why cause fire and draw attention when you could take action and get what you wanted, no he wasn't the culprit. How was sure she even sure he was the one who had spoken first.

She would tell Tony of her findings tomorrow, this has led to something hot, she couldn't fight for a throne if a throne wasn't there no more.. it was still her business even if he wasn't involved in the king's accident and she had to do something about it quickly.

William had noticed her absence, Tonia had just left him, they had been in the office all day just talking.

Anna hadn't shown up all through, he noticed. 'Was she even in?' he thought.

He was about leaving when she burst in.

"Thinking about the devil," William whispered. He could see she was surprised to see him there.

"I didn't know you'll still be here,"Anna said walking quietly to her table.

William noticed her jolting something down hurriedly and then she stood up walking towards the door.

Anna was already at the door when she felt the urge to talk him; it wasn't a good idea to put distance between them. She was certain he had spent the day with Tony's daughter.

Did she want this man or did she not? that's a question she had to provide answer to before it was too late.. they say time waits for no man and then it's said also that love is undeniable, could she still play this game? Hide her feelings and pretend that she did not care when deep down all she wanted was to wake up each morning in his arms.

"You're feeling better," she said.

"I'm good," he answered quietly. The air between them was always tense. "The royal doctor's coming tomorrow morning," he continued. "I'll tell him about the fever once more, he has failed to do something about it, I never remind him so... it's partly my fault," he didn't know what pushed him to say all that, he loved it when she gets worked up to find out things about him.

"Royal doctor?" Anna asked giving him a quizzing look. Something occured to her suddenly.

"This royal doctor, is he being paid by you or..."

"He's paid from the royal treasury," William answered without interest. "Where have you been all day?"

"I had some errands to run. I want to be there tomorrow for your appointment, would you let me?"

"Why the interest in my appointment suddenly," William asked her staring intently at her lips. He was ready to say yes to those lips this moment all he needed was just a kiss.

"It's an idea William, just let me be there please,"

"Alright," William said.

Anna nodded opening the door to leave. She turned back to look at William and caught him staring also.

William wanted her company, but as usual she didn't fancy cripples. If Anna knew what he had just thought of himself as she would totally freak out, he smiled thinking about the past, thinking about their almost first kiss which was disrupted by the king.

He liked to think of him as just the king and not his father. He had never been a father to him and when his mother died he felt so alone, so miserable until Anna came into his life and his father made sure that she was soon gone out of his life, he wasted no time on that.

Her eyes reminded him of his mother and her gentleness.. she was fit to be queen, to be his queen and deep down he knew there was no one who would suit that position like Anna, his father was wrong and he was stupid to not have put up a fight for them then.

Morning came quickly or so Anna thought. She took her bath quickly and went outside.

She wanted to see the doctor before the appointment.

Yeah, it was still the same man, she thought.

Her father had never trusted this man while he was alive, could he do what she thought he did. Could he be bribed by Vivianne.

When Anna got into the room she met the doctor telling William he couldn't use his legs again.

Hitting them with his folded fist he was saying, "your legs are weak, they are almost useless. Before long they would just be like decorations in your body, completely useless."

William looked at the man with so much hatred. He knew he wasn't supposed to be angry with him after all he did nothing to him but he couldn't stop himself from hating him when he said does words without any form of pity.

"But he didn't sustain any injury in his legs or his spinal cord, I find it absurd that he shouldn't be able to use them no more," Anna said taking both William and the doctor by surprise.

"I can't remember when you practiced medicine my dear, stick to your profession; sticking knives into people's heart," the doctor said rudely.

Anna looked at him smiling and walking to him, this was a different Anna entirely, William noticed. This was a saucy seductress he could see, how many persons could she become.

It's a question doctor and as a professional you claim to be... you're meant to answer me. The king never sustained any injuries so how come he wouldn't be able to use his legs again," she said out furiously this time.

"You have no right to question me young lady," the doctor replied.

"Oh no.. you're so wrong. Anything that has to do with the king I take it my business."

"You're forgetting one thing, he's no longer king.."

"So that's why you have the audacity to come here and spit out lies, Anna interrupted him, turning to face him directly.

So she was right, what a cheap man.

"How much are you been paid, just how much are you being paid to betray the throne."

"You do not talk me like that, he said raising his hands to hit her.

"Don't you dare," William yelled out in his usual regal tone. "Don't you dare lay your hands on her," he added quietly.

"Get out, get out and never step foot here again."
