Chapter 20 - Act 20

"Name."

"Yue Zhao."

"Two days ago, did you perform at the Tianhe Sky Platform concert?"

"Yes."

"Where did you go after the concert?"

"I went home."

"Have you been home these past two days?"

"Yes."

"Why have you stayed home?"

"Because that's the order I received."

After the incident at the biological medical park, the security department arrested Yue Zhao, who was at home.

They had no choice; public opinion was boiling over.

First, they publicly detained all the cultivation pods, and under media pressure, disclosed their storage locations, allowing victims' families to come and view or collect the remains.

They rushed to Yue Zhao's home to apprehend this clone.

But to their disappointment, while this clone exhibited some self-awareness, it only knew it had been ordered to sing at the concert and then stay at home—nothing more.

The anti-intrusion team, collaborating with the core data department, forcefully accessed the clone's consciousness, but found nothing.

It seemed like it was merely a tool for singing.

Faced with such a situation, everyone was at a loss. With no leads, how could they continue their investigation? How could they explain this to the fearful and angry people of Xigu City?

Thanks to the thorough preparations made by Qin Xuezhong's people, videos from the scene quickly spread across various channels.

Every video carried a name in its title and description: Tang Kede.

Even though this person had been missing for over a decade, those who had lost family members due to his mad experiments had never forgotten him.

In Xigu City, there was even a secret organization dedicated to finding Tang Kede, scouring the world for news of him to exact revenge.

Moreover, the containers discovered this time, which held brains, were labeled with detailed names matching the victims from several recent missing persons cases in Xigu City.

Suddenly, everyone in Xigu City was asking the same questions: Where is Tang Kede?

And what is the connection between this incident, Yue Zhao, and the Fifth Family?

Within the Ghost Space, internal members shared updates on the Fifth Family's movements.

It appeared that even the board was clueless about the situation, as Yue Zhao had only communicated with Fifth Ningyi and had minimal contact with anyone else.

The security department and the Fifth Family began collaborating, hoping to retrace the events leading to Fifth Ningyi's death to see if they could uncover any clues.

---

Just as countless individuals were at their wit's end, the largest charitable organizations in Xigu City began receiving donations.

These donations had a common theme: they were to be given to the Ghost Organization.

At first, it was a spontaneous act by some citizens, but soon, notable figures joined in as well.

The real turning point came when the owner of the most famous chain car wash in Xigu City donated 100 million.

In an interview, this tearful woman stated, "My child was kidnapped by Tang Kede years ago, and since then, his remains have never been found. My greatest wish is revenge. Though I've lost hope after all these years, the actions of the Ghost Organization have given me a glimmer of hope. Even if it's just a sliver, I'm willing to give everything for a result—not just for myself, but for all the other victims!"

She concluded, "Please take our intentions and seek revenge for us!"

Her words created quite a stir.

In Xigu City, most people lived under tremendous pressure, working for the consortium, and often, the security department acted merely as the consortium's enforcers. Many led oppressive lives, drowning in virtual dreams and drugs—both of which were also industries of the consortium.

Yet today, the Ghost Organization emerged, shedding light on the terrifying truths.

It seemed to offer everyone a release, a comfort.

---

In this hopeless city, there were still people caring for justice.

Within the black space, many members began fervently discussing this issue.

Qin Xuezhong quickly took notice.

This was not what she wanted to see.

Sometimes, an organization or group could easily become corrupted when subjected to too much external pressure, especially a loosely-knit group like hers.

She pondered for a moment, highlighted a section, and issued an announcement:

[We are merely an intelligence-sharing club, not accepting any donations or contributions, not conducting any interviews, not interfering with any federal work or normal business operations, not affecting anyone's life, and not promoting any ideology.]

[Please be advised.]

As soon as this message went out, a flurry of praise followed:

[Great perspective.]

[Impressive.]

[What a grand vision.]

[As expected of the Ghost Boss.]

[Why am I crying? What's going on?]

Qin Xuezhong's intention was to avoid trouble and unnecessary worry, but to those reading it, it transformed into an impression of a boss unconcerned with anything.

However, some skeptical voices arose:

[What the hell? We've spent so much money and used so many weapons; is it too much to ask for some compensation?]

Others noted this person's ID and reminded themselves to steer clear of him in the future.

Because he was an idiot.

It was clear to anyone with insight that the information shared in the black space was largely unknown secrets. If the information wasn't valuable, few dared to share it for fear of embarrassment.

The fewer people who knew, the higher the information's value. If it was useful to them, there was a chance to convert it into profit.

To put it simply: if this case ultimately led to a revelation that a subsidiary of the Fifth Family was behind it, with the current momentum, that company would definitely be brought down.

Since everyone knew this, wouldn't it be easy to short-sell that company in the stock market and rake in profits?

In fact, before this operation, many had already gone to short-sell that transport company, and they likely stood to make a good profit.

There was no need to go after outside money.

What could be more gratifying than striking the enemy and profiting from them?

Many also decided to slap the skeptic in the face by creating a section with the highest privileges, accessible only to Qin Xuezhong, where they shared how they had made money from short-selling.

Since the federal credit points essentially comprised a unique string of keys on the network that couldn't be cracked or forged, they could store this data in the black space.

With the first person, the second and third soon followed.

In no time, the funds in this section exceeded 1 billion.

It was like a resounding slap, signaling to those still doubting the Ghost Boss: Do you think she is being aloof? Is she pursuing some lofty ideal?

Not at all.

Because we could all make so much from a small case, let alone the Ghost Boss.

For her, money was just a number—she just feared that you small fry would go bad!

The boss was focused on upholding justice and world peace! Do you understand?!

Amidst the chaos, Qin Xuezhong watched the unfolding events in the space, silently reflecting on the massive misunderstanding.

She was just someone living in the slums, taking the subway to work every day, and worrying about next month's rent and utilities.

Even spending over 100 bucks on a meal felt a bit painful.
