ADRIANA'S POV
I sat at the edge of my bed, staring at the locked door and I sighed for the umpteenth time.
Clearly, Vincenzo thought I shouldn't be at the meeting, so to make sure that I didn't come waltzing into the meeting, he had kept me in the room saying that I wasn't in the right physical state to attend something like that, but he would brief me after.
I understood that his enemies seeing me in a state like this would lead to questions and suspicions that he couldn't afford at this point which is why he had resorted to something like this. The bruises on my skin were beginning to heal and were almost faded, but it was still visible to those who cared to look, and anyone who saw it would know that it was a beating.
What would he say? That he couldn't hold his own fort but wanted to ally with them? There were already enough rumors that he couldn't control his own people so me appearing like that would only serve to solidify those thoughts.
