Tamsin mocked Caius' scornful look then looked up at Elara.
She teased "What's the matter Elara? You can't handle a little family fun? Plus, Caius didn't say anything bad. It's Mr. Galen's fault for picking someone else if we're not good enough!
Elara responded to their statements calmly and coolly. "Then how do you explain the bathroom incident?" she countered.
Tamsin's face went from pale to sickly in moments. Tamsin looked terrified and lost for words.
Tamsin didn't realise that Elara had just found out herself. Tamsin prayed at that second, that Elara would keep her mouth shut, not wanting anyone freely talking or even people who were family finding out now.
Their efforts to injure Elara were futile. A glare and a short sentence had been enough to render them incapable of locomotion, and the answer she'd given after their men incapacitated themselves illustrated very clearly that her abilities went far beyond anything they could do.
Tamsin had followed Mr. Galen into that room before class and once slipped an extraneous bill onto a tray for a waitress. She earned her right to refuse on its own merits.
Still, Elara found out.
Elara laughed it off at first but Tamsin's panicked movements started to get on her nerves. She decided to give Tamsin a head start.
Jareth noticed the tension amongst the three also. Elara had quieted Caius and Tamsin so easily. Was this female as strong as she seemed?
Jareth turned to look at Elara who was still standing in the corner. He could tell that she was an independent individual, a little intrigued by the fact that not only did she seem to get along with Mr. Galen but also with himself.
If there was a chance that...
Jareth went into a deep state of thought, and his eyes lit up with a bit of excitement.
Elara woke and was on full alert as soon as the car stopped at the Kincaid residence.
She rose from the seat of the vehicle but she didn't turn to look at the Kincaid, her mood hadn't changed.
Tamsin's rage grew and she stomped her foot violently on the ground to take out some of it. "Look at her, Mom and Dad!" she shouted, catching their attention.
Maris' face turned sour. She too thought Elara was rude and inconsiderate, and she wasn't alone in that sentiment.
Maris was going to discipline Elara if Jareth wasn't there to do it.
Jareth had chosen deliberately to respond and break the long silence with general discontent.
Hold on, Elara!' he yelled to her just as she was about to step through.
Elara halted and spun on her heel to meet Jareth the moment his voice reached her ears.
She stared blankly at Jareth without a shred of interest or warmth in her eyes.
The scene puzzled Jareth, but something odd kindled in his chest as Elara glared.
It was a sensation he usually experienced when confronted by an infuriated Harlan.
Elara looked at Jareth. He was silent a long time. She looked worried. Her eyebrows pulled down.
Silent and ice, she asked, "What is wrong?"
Jareth's eyes were pulled back to her voice by some kind of magic.
Jareth tried to look solemn as she looked at Elara. Her face solemn, she asked, "You know Mr. Galen? Why did you not tell me sooner?
Jareth was midway through asking a question when Elara replied with an answer of her own.
"No, that's not who he is!"
Elara and Galen didn't actually know each other, they were just people who knew someone else.
Jareth had to change his plans. That wasn't what he could say.
"What made it seem like you two were getting along well today?" Jareth asked.
Elara supposed that since Jareth was going to pester her regardless, she might as well give him a simple answer. "He's been to our hometown and he knows Harlan," she replied icily.
Jareth had come to take in and understand the present situation.
It wasn't surprising considering what Harlan's reach was like that someone like Mr. Galen existed amongst his friends, not with how secretive he was in terms of business.
To his disappointment, Elara had already walked away, not giving Jareth a chance to catch up with her and continue their conversation. He had so many questions he wanted to ask her.
Unperturbed, he decided to follow her regardless. And as he expected, Elara was just an average village girl with nothing special or important about her.
Elara went back to her room and picked up the phone when he called.
The woman's voice on the other end of the line was Tiernan's, Elara could hear it as she reached over for the phone.
Tiernan was a year or so younger than Elara but always seemed to speak with a forced deepness of tone.
"Inigo appears, boss!"
"Where is he now?" Elara raised an enquiring eyebrow.
One of their group's traitors was Inigo. He had swiped a vital chip when a team member made an error. Elara may not have wanted it for herself, but if he went and sold it to some unscrupulous people she knew then they'd all be in trouble.
For this reason alone Inigo had to be caught and the chip taken.
In his ear he heard Tiernan's fingers rasping on keys. After a while Tiernan spoke again.
"It's verified, boss. Tonight, Inigo will be at Casier's Wraith Lounge. We'll capture him tonight, I'll send someone there!"
"No need," Elara said coolly and Tiernan was even more shocked by her next statement.
"I'm going alone."
There was a pause on the other end. "You're kidding, boss?"
Tiernan was not allowed to ask her anymore questions as Elara hung straight up on the line.
Tiernan wasn't fussed though. Clutching onto his phone with giddy delight that apparently matched hers.
Elara was going to try and catch Inigo herself! Not every day circumstance like this came up, and he was exited to see her in action.
But, Tiernan was fairly disappointed that he was the one left to do surveillance. His only surveillance were the cameras in the pub.
