Chapter 19 - Meeting Captain Edward

But he didn't say anything, as it doesn't matter. What matters is that Edward's archery is really super good, and he had seen it firsthand. So if he can learn from such a master, indeed, it would be great.

"Yes, his name is Edward. Although he is young and only a first-rate martial artist, but his archery techniques are quite good and worth learning. So if you want to learn archery martial arts, then he is the one in the village." Caine smiled.

"But, if you wanted to learn his exclusive martial arts, it would not be free, as I cannot force him to teach that. And to be clear, the true arrow technique is very strong; it might be close to the 108 Star Empyrean Technique. So, what do you want to do?"

Old Caine said with a mysterious smile, giving his disciple a choice.

"Oh, is it really that good?" Ash asked, a bit surprised. He knew how powerful the 108 Star Empyrean Technique was, yet his master was saying this archery technique might be just as strong. This only made him want to learn it even more—but first, he needed to know what price he would have to pay to do so.

"I know what you are thinking; I didn't know what price you have to pay, so you can decide after you ask Edward."

"Go; he lives at the soldier station on the east side of the village. Tell him you are my disciple, and you can ask him directly." Old Caine told him what he needed to know, and he knew it was entirely upon him what he would decide.

Ash nodded after learning this; he quietly left the place and came to the soldier station on the east side of the village.

The mine near Black Iron Village is the major source of Black Iron, which is quite important for any power, as it is one of the fundamental metals for creating various good-quality weapons and armour; hence the village is quite protected, as there is a large number of soldiers stationed here.

As he approached, the soldiers guarding the area noticed him and immediately moved to stop him.

"Hey, stop! You can't come here," one of them said as both soldiers stepped forward.

Seeing this, Ash halted and calmly activated his eye ability to inspect the two soldiers.

[Jaxx- Level 06]

[Wayne- Level 05]

Both soldiers were slightly stronger than most, with levels of 05 and 06, and their names appeared in green.

After a few days of observation and careful thought, he had figured out what the levels and colours represented.

Based on his findings, every three levels seemed to correspond to a martial arts stage. For example, Level 01 to Level 03 represented third-rate martial artists, Level 04 to Level 06 represented second-rate martial artists, and so on.

As for the colours, they indicated the danger they posed to him.

White meant weak and harmless, with no real threat.

Green indicated they were strong and could harm him, but he could still defeat them with effort.

Red meant they were extremely dangerous, and facing them directly would be suicidal.

Black, the most terrifying, signified an unfathomable opponent—someone so overwhelmingly powerful that the difference between their strength and his was incomprehensible.

Meaning both of them were second-rate martial artists and not just newly promoted ones. But still, they wouldn't be his match, as the martial arts he learns aren't ordinary that most soldiers take on. But he wasn't here to fight, so he stopped and replied.

"I am here to find Captain Edward." And take out the token the master gave him.

Seeing this, the two soldiers quickly changed expression and let him walk and even gave him the direction where he might find Edward.

He nodded and quickly went in that direction and arrived at the archery training field for the soldiers.

There were already a few soldiers training, aiming at targets placed at various distances. However, one man, who appeared to be in his early twenties, stood out in a corner, doing something extraordinary—he was shooting while blindfolded.

What made it even more unbelievable was that his target was the farthest of them all, positioned about five hundred meters away. Yet, every single arrow hit the bullseye with pinpoint accuracy. Like the arrows have a homing device and definitely will reach their target.

Bang! Bang!...

Ash didn't move as he watched this quietly for some time, but even after aiming more than a dozen times, he didn't miss a single one.

He was surprised, but he calmed down. Seeing this, he didn't need to ask who Captain Edward was, so without wasting time, he walked towards him.

As Ash approached, Edward seemed to sense his presence. He stopped shooting, removed his blindfold, and turned to look at him.

"Who are you?" Edward asked coldly, his tone sharp and unwelcoming.

But he remained calm and smiled. He can see the guy seems annoyed and was a lone wolf type, as even having such talent, not a single soldier here dares to come close to him.

"Ah, this was going to be difficult." Such thoughts appeared in his mind as this type of guy is difficult to deal with.

"What happened? Why are you not saying anything? If there's nothing, don't bother me." Edward said with a bothersome expression.

"Hah, Captain Edward, my master Caine, told me to learn archery from you." He directly told his reason for coming to him, as guys like Edward didn't like long talks.

"Ah, Old Caine sent you? And more importantly, he's your master?" Edward said, his surprise evident. He hadn't expected Old Caine to take on a new disciple. Hearing this, a flicker of interest appeared in his eyes, curious about what kind of talent this young guy possessed to be accepted by someone like Caine.
