Chapter -21
As Lucien arrived back to his home, the weight of frustration still clung to him like a heavy cloak. The evening had promised excitement and potential, but the system had intervened, shattering his plans and leaving him seething with anger.
Yet, amidst the storm of his emotions, the soothing words of Miss Effie echoed in his mind, reminding him that opportunities for improvement were abundant. With a deep breath, he summoned the system panel, his voice steady despite the turmoil within. "System panel."
Being an earthling, Lucien was no stranger to the concept of a system—an enigmatic force that could transform a mundane existence into something extraordinary. He had read countless novels of individuals who harnessed the power of such systems, and he hoped his own experience would be equally rewarding. Navigating through the interface, he found it surprisingly intuitive, and without hesitation, he decided to claim his newbie reward.
"Ding... Congratulations to the host for claiming the newbie reward. You have received +1 in every physical attribute."
"Ding.. since host has lost his BJ virginity, another random reward has been generated; do you want to claim it."
The notification chimed in his mind, but Lucien's reaction was muted.
He had read enough novels to know that a mere +1 increase in stats was unlikely to yield significant results. However, just as he was contemplating the implications of this minor boost, an unexpected surge of energy coursed through his body. It was as if a dormant power had awakened, igniting a fire within him that quickly escalated into an overwhelming heat.
"Kuagh~ Ahh~!"
The cry escaped his lips involuntarily as he collapsed to the ground, the sensation morphing from a mild discomfort to an excruciating agony.
It felt as though thousands of tiny creatures were gnawing at his insides, tearing at his muscles with relentless fervor. The pain was so intense that it threatened to consume him, and for a moment, he feared he might lose himself entirely.
Just when he thought he could endure no more, the torment vanished as abruptly as it had come, leaving him in a bewildered state of calm.
"W-what? What just happened?" Lucien stammered, struggling to regain his composure as he crawled on the floor, a long, silvery strand of saliva escaping from the corner of his mouth. He glanced at the system panel, half-expecting to see some indication of what had transpired, but the translucent interface remained unremarkable, devoid of any useful new prompts or notifications.
As he slowly regained his bearings, the remnants of the pain still lingered in his memory, he clicked on the option to claim the second random reward, his heart racing with anticipation.
"Ding... Congratulations to the host for claiming the unique random reward. You have acquired the unique talent [Sword Prodigy]. Please click on the reward to activate the talent."
The notification echoed in Lucien's mind, a digital chime that felt almost surreal. "Sword prodigy? Did I really just get it like that?" he murmured to himself, his heart racing with disbelief.
He was sprawled on his bed, but the news jolted him upright. The weight of his past—years of being labeled as talentless—began to lift, replaced by a flicker of hope. With the title of Sword Prodigy, he envisioned a future where he could master swordsmanship at an accelerated pace, leaving behind the shadows of his former self.
A wave of exhilaration surged through him, mingling with the faint echoes of pain that still lingered from the previous ordeal. The thought of finally proving himself, of surpassing Adam—the one who had always oppressed his predecessor—filled him with self doubt. He could almost see it: a day when he would no longer have to shy away from his feelings for Miss Effie, a day when he could stand tall and confident.
Without a moment's hesitation, he clicked on the reward, eager to embrace his newfound potential.
"Ding... Congratulations to the host for activating the unique talent; to allow the talent to take root inside the host's body, +1 point in every physical attribute will be granted."
The initial part of the notification brought a wide smile to Lucien's face. thrilled him, but as he read further, the prospect of enhanced physical abilities, his joy was abruptly overshadowed by dread. The latter part of the message hinted at a painful transformation, and he felt a chill run down his spine.
The memory of the excruciating pain he had experienced just few minutes before loomed large in his mind. No amount of mental preparation could brace him for what was to come. As the pain surged through him, it was far more intense than he had anticipated, a relentless wave that crashed over him, dragging him into unconsciousness.
"Ding... Congratulations to the host for reaching the threshold attribute points to successfully activate the Sword Prodigy talent; in the future, please partake in further romantic activities to earn random rewards." The notification chimed again, but Lucien was already lost to the world, his body limp and unresponsive.
[Next Day]
Callum, who also had wake up earlier today watched lucien from the sidelines, a puzzled expression on his face. "What is it? Something about you seems strange for some reason, Lucy," he remarked, unable to shake the feeling that something had shifted in his friend.
"Really? But everything seems the same to me," Lucien replied, his focus unwavering. He shifted into a left stance, the wooden sword glinting in the morning light, and struck forward with a swift motion.
Ktak!
The tip of the sword connected with the wooden doll, producing a sound that resonated through the training grounds, drawing the attention of other soldiers preparing for the hunt scheduled for the following day. But Lucien was oblivious to the commotion; his gaze was fixed on the doll, where a crack had begun to form from the impact of his strike.
'Why does it look like it will break if I were to hit it with the same strike once again?' he wondered, a mix of curiosity and excitement bubbling within him.
'Was this the result of the talent he had acquired?' The thought sent a thrill through him, as he once again took the same stance to try out his theory.
