After leaving the Chancellor's office, Chancellor David Chen sank heavily into his chair, exhaling deeply. "That was too close… way too close," he muttered to himself. Turning sharply to Kathy, his voice thundered, "Get out now!" He pointed at the door with unwavering anger. "You shameless fool. You almost got me into serious trouble!"
"Uncle, I… I'm so sorry. I didn't mean..."
"I said get out!" His voice shook with fury. "How could a lecturer, my cousin, be going after her students like this? Do you even realize how serious this is? It's against the school's constitution. Stay away from him, or I won't cover for you anymore!"
Jack stormed out of the Chancellor's office, walking hastily to release his frustration. Selena hurried to catch up with him, calling his name softly. "Your Majesty, please wait."
Jack stopped suddenly, turning to face her. His eyes were cold, his expression unreadable. "Where can we talk?"
Selena hesitated, then pointed toward the Love Garden. "There. It's quieter."
Jack nodded and began walking, his silence thick with unspoken emotions. Selena followed closely. At the Love Garden, a young waiter greeted them and took their orders. "Just a glass of Chapman," Selena said with a smile. Jack frowned slightly. Why would she order his favorite drink? He shrugged it off and ordered a bottle of water.
Selena noticed his tense expression and began, "Your Majesty, your mother owned 90% of the school shares. I went to the administration and the Chancellor to inform them of your presence and ensure your identity remains hidden. However—"
Jack interrupted her. "Enough. Next time, let me decide who should know me and who shouldn't."
Selena lowered her head. "Understood, Your Majesty."
Jack leaned forward, his tone sharp. "Why were you trailing me earlier? You thought I wouldn't notice the tinted sedan following me?"
Selena's face froze. "You… you knew?" she stammered, surprised.
"I ask the questions. You answer them," Jack replied curtly. His eyes bore into hers, demanding an explanation.
"Yes, Your Majesty, I followed you. I have to ensure your safety."
Jack sneered. "You think I'm ignorant, don't you? The next time you pull a stunt like that, I'll deal with you myself. And tell her…" His voice grew colder. "I will meet her when I want to. Not when she decides. Where was she all these years?"
Selena nearly fell from her chair, stunned. How did Jack know Lydia was in the car? No one had told him, and there was no way he could have seen through the tinted windows.
"Y-your Majesty, she was simply excited to see you. Please understand… Lydia is old and frail. She has lost so much already."
"And what about Tracy? There's still a daughter, right? " Jack's question struck Selena like a thunderbolt. How did he know about Tracy?
Selena muttered, "The King has been doing his homework…"
Jack noticed a girl walking towards the other side of the Garden, she looked unhappy, and her hair color was what attracted him to her, it was the same with his mum's in the picture he saw.
Before Selena could respond, Jack stood abruptly. "I need some air," he said, walking toward the small stream beside the garden. Selena nodded and remained seated, watching him.
As Jack neared the stream, he noticed something floating in the water. His heart raced. Was that a person? The shape became clearer—a young girl with long brown hair, her body limp and unmoving. The same girl that he had just seen a few minutes ago. He looked around but saw no other person. How did she get in the water?
Without hesitation, Jack pressed a button on his phone, summoning Selena for backup. He dove into the water, swimming faster than ever. Reaching the girl, he pulled her sinking body to the surface and swam back to the shore. By the time he emerged, Selena and three bodyguards were already waiting.
"Take her to the best hospital," Jack shouted as the men took the girl from his arms. "I'm coming with you."
Selena stepped forward. "Your Majesty, you're soaked. You need to change your clothes to avoid catching a cold."
"I don't care! Get me some clothes and follow me," Jack snapped, mounting his bike and speeding off toward the hospital.
Selena immediately spoke into her communicator. "Custom clothes for the Young Master. Deliver them to the R. Mason Hospital, VIP Ward, Section A. You have five minutes." She ended the call and hurried after Jack.
At the hospital, Jack paced the VIP section as the girl was rushed into surgery. Selena arrived moments later and joined him.
"Your Majesty, this is the female ward. You can't go in," she said, stopping him before he entered. Jack looked at the bold red letters on the door: ONLY FEMALES ALLOWED.
Turning to Selena, he gestured toward the three bodyguards. "Who are they?"
"They're trained operatives disguised as students. They ensure your safety without drawing attention. They only take orders from you or me," Selena explained.
Jack raised an eyebrow. "How many of them are there?"
Selena hesitated. "Apart from these three, are 200 others stationed on campus."
Jack smirked, though his tone was laced with sarcasm. "Only 200? Seems like you've got nothing better for them to do. Double it, make it 2,000," he said mockingly. I hope they are all enrolled as real students, I don't need empty brains and all muscles protecting me. Please give them a meaningful life
Selena lowered her head, realizing he was teasing her. "I'll ensure those not registered as students are enrolled, Your Majesty."
"Good," Jack said. "I don't need mindless brutes. Educated minds build kingdoms, not fists."
The doctor emerged from the ward and addressed the group. "Who is the patient's relative? We need immediate consent for a blood transfusion. Her blood type is rare, and we need a donor."
Jack stepped forward. "Doesn't the hospital have a blood bank?"
"Yes, but we don't have enough of her type in stock."
"Then get what you have and start the transfusion. Bill me for whatever she needs."
The doctor looked Jack over skeptically. "Who's paying?" he asked, his tone condescending.
Jack frowned and handed his black card to Selena. "Pay whatever is required. And bring me the Chief Medical Officer and the Chairman."
The doctor snorted. "A black card? Sure, kid. Save the stories. We'll start once we see the cash."
'' Really? How about saving lives first before money?
'' It doesn't work with me anymore, he said proudly. I know your types, you act all rich but at the end of the day, you pay for nothing. The hospital is not a charity organization.
Jack was stunned at how a medical doctor could speak so carelessly and this doctor works for him. No, he must be fired.
Selena sighed, pitying the doctor. "He has no idea who he's dealing with," she thought, hurrying off to settle the bill and summon the hospital heads.
Selena was done with the deposit of a million dollars and hurried to the Offices of the Chief Medical Officer and the Chairman, both hurriedly followed Selena back to where Jack was standing by the door of the ward.
The doctor got a notification that a deposit had been made, he checked and was a bit surprised at the amount deposited. He turned and went into the ward
"Hello, Young Master Jack," the Chairman and Chief Medical Doctor greeted in unison, their voices trembling slightly. They stood before Jack, stealing glances at his face. The resemblance to his mother, Rita Mason, was undeniable.
Both men had known Rita before her disappearance. When Selena told them about Jack, they'd been stunned. An heir? After eighteen years? It seemed impossible, but Selena's word was final. They had to see for themselves.
Jack's expression was cold. "Go to the ward. Take over. I want that doctor fired."
The two men exchanged uneasy looks but didn't dare argue. They rushed off. Minutes later, the disgraced doctor was escorted out, his head low. Jack, now changed into fresh clothes, stepped out of a private male ward and found the man kneeling at his feet.
"Young Master Jack," the doctor stammered. "I didn't recognize you. Please... forgive me!" He almost grabbed Jack's leg in desperation.
Jack's voice was sharp. "If anything happens to that girl, you'll face the consequences. Some people only understand life when they see the coffin."
The doctor shrank back, trembling.
Three hours later, the Chairman and Chief Medical Doctor emerged from surgery, their faces pale. Jack hadn't moved from his seat in the corridor. He stood up, his patience wearing thin.
"Let's talk. Your office," he said simply.
"Right this way, sir," the Chairman said, his voice tight with nerves. The small group trailed behind Jack as they entered a luxurious office that looked more like a CEO's suite than part of a hospital.
Jack took one look around and frowned. "Whose office is this?"
"It's mine, Young Master," the Chairman answered quickly. "Logan Lionel."
"Logan," Jack muttered, scanning the lavish furnishings. His eyes hardened. "This ends here."
The room went silent. Logan swallowed, feeling the weight of the young Mason's words.
"Selena," Jack called.
"Young Master," she replied promptly.
"Get Lucas here. Now."
Selena nodded, turned, and stepped outside to make the call.
Jack turned to Logan, his expression sharp. "What happened to the girl who drowned?"
Logan hesitated before speaking. "Young Master, she was poisoned. We also found a blood clot in her head, but thankfully, it didn't reach her brain. We removed it, but it's up to her willpower now. She may survive... but she might suffer memory loss due to a blow to the back of her head."
Jack frowned, his thoughts racing. Poison? A blow to the head? The attack was too calculated. How had they known her movements? Was this part of her routine?
Before he could dig further, Lucas walked in, calm and composed.
"Young Master," Lucas greeted with a respectful bow.
The sight made Logan and the doctors freeze in place. Lucas's reputation preceded him—"Fix It," the man who ruled the underground and bridged the elite and the shadows. Yet here he was, bowing to Jack.
"Lucas, thank you for coming on short notice," Jack said. "I need you to investigate these three doctors. Look for evidence of corruption. If they're guilty, do what you do best—liquidate their assets and use the funds to compensate any mistreated patients. Replace them with the best in their fields and make them examples. Comb through the hospital and find their allies. This place needs a full reset."
Lucas nodded. "Understood."
Jack turned to the three doctors. "You may leave, but drop everything—credit cards, keys, all of it. Walk out with nothing."
The doctors trembled but obeyed, surrendering their belongings as Lucas swiftly confiscated them and escorted them out.
"Selena," Jack said, his voice firm but calm, "get Uncle Richard and Thomas here."
She nodded and stepped out again. Within minutes, Richard and Thomas arrived, concern etched on Richard's face.
"Is Jack okay?" Richard asked Selena.
"Young Master is fine, Sir Richard," she assured him, her expression neutral.
Richard exhaled in relief when he realized they were heading toward the admin area instead of the wards.
Inside the Chairman's office, Jack rose to greet them. "Uncle Richard."
"Don't scare me like that again!" Richard said, looking Jack over as if to confirm he was unharmed. "What are you doing here?"
Jack smiled, reassured by Richard's genuine concern.
Gesturing for them to sit, Richard scanned the office and smirked. "This place looks more like the HQ of a luxury business. Is the Chairman a doctor or a pimp?"
Thomas and Jack couldn't help but laugh.
"Exactly why I called you," Jack said, still amused. He quickly recapped the day's events, including Lucas handling the corrupt doctors.
Richard leaned back, impressed. "You're sharper than I thought. So, how do I fit in?"
Jack's tone turned serious. "I need you to take over the management of all R. Mason hospitals in the country. Selena says there are 30 hospitals in Q Country alone. Start here and expand steadily."
Richard stared, stunned. "You trust me with all that?"
Jack grinned. "Of course. And I have someone in mind to help—Grandma Grace."
Richard's face lit up. "She'd be perfect!"
"Good," Jack said. "I intend to make her the Chief Medical Officer of all branches."
Turning to Selena, Jack asked, "How's the girl? Has she woken up?"
"Not yet," Selena replied. "But I've stationed two guards to watch over her."
Jack nodded, thinking. "Get Grandma Grace here to check on her. Before you go, send me the girl's details. I need to figure something out."
Selena bowed slightly and left to carry out his orders.
Jack, Richard, and Thomas stayed inside the office while the other bodyguard stood outside by the door. Selena left alone to Get Grandma Grace, on her way she received a call from Lydia.
'' Hello, Your Majesty. Daisy spoke into the phone as it connected
'' I see he is doing some pretty good moves, I just got information that Jack has started flushing the HQ of R. Mason Hospital. that's impressive, when are we meeting?
Selena had to pass the message Jack gave her concerning the chat they had at the Love Garden, Lydia burst out with hilarious laughter
'' Indeed he is Rita's blood, I'm so proud of him. Okay, let him reach out to me when he is ready
Selena raised an eyebrow at Lydia's calm reaction. She had expected anger or frustration. Hmm, these rich people do think differently.
Soon, Selena arrived at Richard's house to pick up Grandma Grace. This was their first meeting, and Selena was already filled with admiration. Grace was the woman who had raised a king in secret for 18 years, hiding him so well that no one could trace him. Selena's respect for her was immense.
As she waited inside the car, she quickly sent Jack the data he had requested about the patient. Then she leaned back, watching the apartment door.
Grace stepped out, her eyes scanning the driveway until they landed on Selena, standing by the gate. She was surprised by how young Selena looked.
"Hello, Grace. I'm Selena. I called earlier," Selena said warmly, stepping forward to greet her.
Grace smiled warmly in return. "You look stunning, Selena. It's a pleasure meeting you."
They shook hands before getting into Selena's Limited Edition Range Rover. As they began driving toward the hospital, Selena noticed a white car trailing them at a cautious distance. Her eyes narrowed.
Speaking quietly into her communicator, she said, "Code Z. White vehicle tailing us. Intercept and investigate."
Without altering her pace, Selena abruptly turned down a road opposite the direction of the hospital. The white car followed, seemingly unaware it was walking into a trap.
Through her rearview mirror, Selena caught sight of a black car, Code Z, moving into position behind the tailing vehicle. Calmly, she issued another command, "Code Q, execute a maneuver."
The plan unfolded smoothly. At the next traffic light, a second car sped up and cut in front of the white vehicle, forcing it to slow. The tail car was now boxed in, Code Z behind and another operative Code Q, in front.
The light turned green, and Selena's car moved forward at its usual pace, giving no indication she was aware of the situation. The white car hesitated.
Suddenly, Code Z's black car accelerated, slamming into the white vehicle. At the same moment, the car in front of the tailing vehicle braked hard, causing another collision. The two hits happened within seconds, leaving the white car sandwiched between Selena's operatives. Suddenly a third operative arrives, she parks her car at a distance watching and not joining the others.
Selena glanced briefly in the rearview mirror. "Amateurs," she muttered.
Inside the white car, the driver sat frozen, stunned by the sudden and precise assault. Before she could react, two women emerged from the other vehicles, surrounding her. Selena smiled faintly and continued her steady drive toward the hospital.
They arrived at the hospital and she took Grace to meet Jack inside the Chairman's office.
Meanwhile, back at the accident spot, the crunch of metal echoed as the white car jolted from both ends. The driver gripped the wheel, stunned. Before she could recover, two women stepped out of their cars with purpose, heels clicking against the pavement.
Driver (White Car): (rolling down her window, voice sharp) "What's your problem? You can't just slam into someone like that!"
Driver 1 (Code Q): (leaning against her car, arms crossed) "Funny, coming from someone tailing us like a wannabe spy. Care to explain yourself?"
Driver (White Car): (defensive) "Tailing? I wasn't tailing anyone! You're imagining things!"
Driver 1 (Code Q): (approaching from the front, smirking) "Sweetheart, you've been following us for miles. At least come up with a better excuse. This one's embarrassing."
Driver 2 (Code Z): (tapping on the window with her nails, her voice icy) "Let's cut the act. Who sent you? Talk, or this gets messy."
Driver (White Car): (glaring) "Messy? You're the ones who hit me! Twice! I'll call the cops!"
Driver 1: (laughing dryly) "Oh, please do. I'd love to see you explain why you're tailing a Limited Edition Range Rover on their time." (gestures toward Selena's car)
Driver 2: (mocking) "Cops love good stories. Especially ones with bad liars."
Driver 1: (leans in closer) "Last chance. Talk, or we make this a long, painful day for you."
Driver (White Car): (nervously glancing at each of them) "Okay, okay! I was hired to follow the car. Some guy paid me—no name, just cash. Told me to report back on where it was going!"
Driver 1: (raising an eyebrow) "See? That wasn't so hard. But now I have another question." (steps closer) "Why follow us? Who's so curious about our boss?"
Driver (White Car): (panicking) "I don't know! He didn't tell me anything! Just follow the black Range Rover and send updates!"
Driver 2: (to Driver 1) "Sounds like a low-budget setup to me. No class, no prep."
Driver 1: (snatching the woman's phone through the window) "Let's see who she's been texting."
Driver (White Car): (yelling) "Hey! That's my phone!"
Driver 1: (smirking) "Not anymore."
Driver 2: (checking her watch) "We're wasting time. Pop the trunk. Let's see what else she's hiding."
Driver 1 pulls gloves from her pocket, slides them on, and gestures to Driver 2.
Driver 2: (calmly) "Check her car. Anything useful, bag it. If she moves, we immobilize her. Selena will want details."
Driver (White Car): (desperately) "You can't just take my stuff! This is insane!"
Driver 1: (leaning into the window) "What's insane is thinking you could follow us unnoticed. We're professionals, honey. You're out of your league."
The two women work efficiently, one checking the car, and another flipping through the confiscated phone. The driver slumps in her seat, realizing there's no way out of this.
