Chapter 108: The Spoils of Battle
Ling Lie was dead.
Lin Langtian's cold gaze lingered on Ling Lie's lifeless body, eyes wide open in disbelief, before he flicked his red spear, causing Ling Lie to collapse lifelessly to the ground.
Killing Ling Lie hadn't surprised Lin Langtian. He had used nearly all his powerful techniques, even deploying his secret "Stasis Array" skill, and with his own immense strength, it would have been a disappointment if he couldn't take down a half-step Nirvana master.
Turning, Lin Langtian noted the gory scene nearby, where the puppet had killed Ling Long with a single punch to the head. Nodding to himself, he withdrew the puppet into his storage bag. This was the puppet's first use since he had taken control of it, and it had impressively dispatched one peak Transformation master and two mastery-level Transformation fighters.
Unfortunately, the puppet was still damaged, and he hadn't yet found a way to repair it. If restored to its prime, it could rival a true Nirvana Realm master, giving Lin Langtian a formidable weapon. But Lin Langtian was not dissatisfied—whether he could restore the puppet was up to fate.
As the sky darkened, he put away his Crimson Flame Sky Spear and deactivated the Stasis Array. The Great Qing Dynasty was no place to linger, and with his mission complete, it was time to return to Blackrock Manor.
However, before leaving, Lin Langtian's gaze fell on Ling Lie's thunder mace and his storage bag. A high-grade spirit treasure and a storage bag from a half-step Nirvana master—quite the spoils.
Quickly storing the thunder mace and bag, Lin Langtian took a few leaps to exit the estate, then raised his hand, unleashing a burst of black flame toward the estate. The flames ignited instantly, spreading like a tidal wave and engulfing the entire manor, reducing it to ashes in moments.
With such a significant loss of a half-step Nirvana master, a peak Transformation master, two mastery-level Transformation fighters, and over a hundred skilled warriors, even a powerful family like the Ling family would feel the blow. Before they understood who was behind it, they likely wouldn't dare make another move on Blackrock Manor.
And that was precisely Lin Langtian's goal.
Since the Ling family's estate was near the border, the journey back to Blackrock Manor wasn't long. With the Golden Crow's guidance from above, Lin Langtian reached his destination in just two hours.
By now, night had fully fallen, and the manor was quiet, save for the occasional patrol. As the clan's enforcer and a hero who had saved them only days earlier, Lin Langtian commanded immense respect in Blackrock Manor. After a brief word with the guards, he returned to his quarters without issue.
No one in the manor could have guessed that in just half a day, Lin Langtian had carried out a mission that would shock both the Lin and Ling families.
Once inside, he sat cross-legged on his bed, contemplating. Then he opened his hand to reveal the storage bag he'd taken from Ling Lie. The bag was stained with fresh blood, a memento from its previous owner.
Of all the spoils taken from Ling Lie, Lin Langtian was most curious about this storage bag. Although he had his Crimson Flame Sky Spear, making the thunder mace less appealing, he was eager to see what treasures the storage bag might hold.
As he probed the bag with his spiritual energy, a wave of resistance pushed back, repelling him.
"A spirit seal?" Lin Langtian smirked. Spiritual energy was his strength; although he and Ling Lie had greatly differed in rank, Lin Langtian's spiritual power was far superior. This was how he had ensnared Ling Lie in the Stasis Array.
Since Ling Lie was dead, breaking his spirit seal wouldn't be difficult.
Raising an eyebrow, Lin Langtian levitated the storage bag before him and focused his spiritual energy, directing it in a powerful, invisible spike that he drove into the bag's barrier.
Clink!
An invisible wave erupted from the bag, crashing against the room's walls and leaving a small crack. But Lin Langtian didn't spare a glance for the room's damage, his focus entirely on the bag. With a steady stream of spiritual energy, he continued to press against the seal, finally hearing a faint crackling sound.
Lin Langtian's mouth curled into a grin—he had successfully broken Ling Lie's spirit seal.
Once inside, he discovered a wealth of items. Ling Lie, a half-step Nirvana master and high-ranking Ling family member, indeed had a remarkable collection.
Lin Langtian's spiritual energy scanned the contents, identifying numerous high-grade spirit herbs and treasures. Even Lin Langtian couldn't help but admit that these valuables were greater than his own resources.
However, most of the items didn't particularly interest him. Given his current strength, these treasures wouldn't provide much benefit.
But the bag didn't disappoint—something caught his eye. In one corner, there was a pile of smooth, rounded pills that radiated a powerful Nirvana aura.
"Those are… Nirvana Pills!"
A quick scan revealed a full twenty thousand Nirvana Pills inside.
With the ones he had previously acquired in the ancient tomb, Lin Langtian now had a total of fifty thousand Nirvana Pills.
He vaguely remembered that in the original timeline, Lin Dong had used one hundred thousand Nirvana Pills to break through to the half-step Nirvana Realm. Though Lin Langtian wasn't focused on competing with Lin Dong, he felt instinctively that he, too, would need at least one hundred thousand Nirvana Pills to make that breakthrough.
It seemed he'd need to keep saving up…
