STEFAN
I parked my car in front of a nightclub.
I needed to unwind; for the past few days, I had been going through a lot.
Worrying about Daisy and her entanglement with that asshole Declan.
I knew my sister was still in love with him, I could tell that.
I hoped she snapped out of it quickly and moved on. There were far better guys in the world.
And then there was Jamie who pretty much buried himself in work and cared about nothing else. The only thing that could bring him out of his work would be Daisy and the children.
As for Axel, he was on a rampage, he was determined to destroy Declan completely.
Although I hated Declan, that didn't mean I wanted his company to be finished.
Axel, on the other hand, wanted to finish Declan and even end his life if possible.
I had used all my persuading power to calm him down.
I needed to drink and if possible find a girl to take home for the night.
"give me a glass of your strongest whiskey," I tell the bartender.
I had purposely gone to a bar where no one would recognize me, it was in the downtown part of town.
The bartender put the glass down in front of me.
"You look familiar," the bartender told me.
I was a little on edge. Did he recognize me? I had purposely come here because I didn't want anyone to recognize me.
"You know me?" I ask.
"No, I am sorry I must have mistaken you for someone else," he replied.
"OK, no problem."
"Enjoy your drink, sir, let me know if you want a refill."
"Thank you."
I was on my second glass when a girl sat beside me. She looked young, around Daisy's age.
"Can I have a strong drink?" she asks.
The bartender gives her a glass of alcohol.
She drinks it quickly and then starts coughing from the burn of the alcohol.
"You have to slow down when you take a drink, especially a strong one like this" I advise her as I pat her back while she coughs.
When she recovers from her coughing. She looks at me grateful.
"Thanks."
"you are welcome, first time drinking?" I ask her.
She nods her head.
I grab a tissue from the box and clean the corner of her mouth.
"Next time, don't drink it all at once and don't request for a strong drink." I advise.
"What should I ask for then?" she asks looking at me with her pretty eyes.
"something light."
"something light like what?"
"A mojito, a vodka soda or rum and coke. You can order any of these"
She turns to the bartender.
"Can I have a mojito please?" she asks the bartender.
"of course." he prepares the drink and hands it to her.
"Thanks." she sips at it slowly.
"How is that?" I ask her.
"It's nice and it's not strong. Thanks"
"You are welcome, what is your name?"
She looks unsure and doesn't answer me. Maybe she feels I am a stalker.
"It's okay, you don't have to tell me your name, I can give you a nickname if you want?" I offer.
She looks interested. "What kind of nickname?"
I look her up and down, she looks so young and tiny.
"Little one."
"Why little one?" she asks with a frown.
"Because you are little." I say in a teasing voice.
"Well since you seem to know everything, I would call you wise one." she retorted.
"That's ok. So little one, what brings you to drink alone?"
"I had a fight with my best friend."
"why? Did something happen between you guys?"
"She was supposed to have a sleepover with me tonight but when she came over and my elder brother wasn't home, she left."
"Just like that?" I am kind of interested in the story.
"Yes."
"is that enough to have a fight?"
"This isn't the first time she has ditched me, I have been suspecting her for a while now."
"What have you been suspecting?" I am fully invested in this drama.
Who would have thought I would find something more interesting than the alcohol tonight.
"That she is just with me because of my brother. I know she has a crush on him and wants to date him and I have been a good friend so far making sure to create opportunities for her to be with him alone. I even sing her praises whenever I talk to him." she complains with a pout.
"So, you know she likes him and you have been helping her get with him, so why are you angry?"
She raised her hands up in exasperation.
"Because she is my best friend. And friends are supposed to come before men. It hurts when she doesn't want to hang out with me unless my brother is there."
I pat her hand gently.
"There, there, calm down. Why don't you hang out with your other friends then?"
"I don't have any other friends apart from her. She is my only friend."
"Then make some new friends." I advise.
She looks down. "people have always said I am not likable enough to be friends with me. She is the only one who wanted to be friends with me."
I tilt up her chin so I can see her face clearly.
"I don't believe that, I happen to find you very likable. I would be friends with you." I offer.
"Really? You would be friends with me?" she looks surprised.
"of course little one."
She smiles broadly, she stretches out her hand.
"Friends?"
"Friends." I shook her hand.
"So this brother of yours? Why hasn't he accepted your friend?"
"Well he used to be in love with this woman before but she hurt his feelings and since then he has closed his heart off to love."
"Love can be such a crazy thing." I reply thoughtfully.
The bartender refills our drinks.
"Have you been broken hearted before?" she asked.
I scoff, "hell no, handsome guys like me don't get heartbroken"
"Mr brother is more handsome." she retorts.
"Well beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I believe I am more handsome."
We talk all night until the bar closes.
I escort her to her car.
"it was nice talking to you tonight." she told me.
"I enjoyed myself too."
"Good night and goodbye." she gives me a little wave.
I grab her hand and take a pen from my pocket write my number on her palm.
"Call me if you need a drinking buddy, little one."
"I will." she gets into her and I close the door for her and she drove off.
I smile to myself, the night hadn't gone how I expected but somehow it had become better for me.
