Chapter 10 - Chapter 10

ANTONIO'S POV

*at the Hitler's mansion.*

I paced back and forth in my office, my mind racing with worry and frustration. It had been a week since my daughter, Melissa, had gone undercover to take down Vincenzo Grant, and I hadn't heard a word from her. No updates, no messages, no nothing. I was starting to get desperate.

Nicholas, my consigliere, entered the room, his expression concerned. "Boss, you've been pacing for hours. What's eating at you?"

I stopped pacing and turned to him, my anger and worry boiling over. "My daughter has been missing for a week, Nicholas! And to make matters worse, we're losing allies left and right. The Grants are trying to bankrupt us, and I haven't heard a peep from Melissa. I'm starting to think something's gone terribly wrong."

Nicholas's expression turned grave. "We'll get to the bottom of this, boss. I'll make some calls, see if I can dig up any information. But in the meantime, we need to focus on protecting our interests. We can't let the Grants get the upper hand."

I nodded, knowing he was right. But the worry and fear for my daughter's safety lingered, gnawing at my gut. I couldn't shake the feeling that something was terribly wrong.

I slumped back in my office chair, my mind consumed by dark thoughts. My only child, my daughter Melissa, was all I had left to carry on my legacy. And now, I haven't heard a thing from her. The fear that she might be dead already gnawed at my gut like a festering wound.

"I shouldn't have let her go," I muttered to myself, my voice laced with regret and anguish. I clenched my fists, trying to contain the emotions that threatened to overwhelm me.

"Damn!" I bellowed, slamming my fist onto the table. The sound echoed through the room, making Nicholas jump.

"Boss, please…" he started to say, but I cut him off.

"No, Nicholas! You don't understand! She's my only child, my only heir. If anything happens to her, everything I've built will crumble. My legacy will be destroyed." I yelled, pointing my index finger at him.

I buried my face in my hands, feeling the weight of my fears and worries crushing me. I couldn't lose Melissa. I couldn't lose my legacy. I had to find her, no matter what it took.

"Nicholas, I need you to send someone to go undercover, a team or whatever it takes," I said, my voice low and urgent. "I need to know my daughter is safe."

Nicholas hesitated, his expression uncertain. "Sir, I'm sure she's…"

"Shut your mouth and do as I say, Nicholas!" I thundered, slamming my fist on the desk. "If anything happens to my daughter, you'll pay with your life. Do you understand?"

Nicholas's eyes widened, and he nodded hastily. "Y-yes, sir. I understand. I'll send one of best undercover right away."

I glared at him, my anger and fear simmering just below the surface. "See that you do, Nicholas. I want daily reports, and I want them to be detailed. I want to know everything my daughter is doing, everyone she's talking to. Do you understand?"

Nicholas nodded again, his face pale. "Y-yes, sir. I'll take care of it."

I turned away from him, my mind racing with worst-case scenarios. I couldn't lose my daughter. I couldn't lose my legacy. I would do whatever it took to keep her safe.

"Nicholas," I said, my voice cold and deadly. "If you fail me, you'll suffer the consequences. Do you understand?"

Nicholas nodded, his eyes wide with fear. "Y-yes, sir. I understand."

Just as Nicholas was about to exit my office, a sudden knock at the door made me turn to face the entrance. Before I could even grant permission to enter, the door burst open and Luca strode in, his eyes wide with urgency.

"What gives you the effrontery to barge into my office in such a ruffian manner?" I thundered, my voice icy with displeasure."Don't you know the rules here, Luca?"

Luca's eyes darted nervously to Nicholas, who was still standing by the door, before returning to me. "I-I'm sorry, sir," he stuttered, his face pale. "I didn't mean to interrupt, but I have urgent news that couldn't wait."

I raised an eyebrow skeptically "Urgent news? What could be so urgent that you felt the need to barge in here like a bull in a china shop?"

Luca took a deep breath, his chest heaving with emotion, before speaking in a rush. "It's about Devon, sir. We found him...he was almost dead in the alley."

My eyes snapped to Luca's face, my mind racing with shock. "You mean my nephew?" I asked, my voice trembling with disbelief.

Luca nodded, his eyes wide with concern. "Yes, sir. Devon. He was beaten badly, left for dead. We found him just in time, but...but it's bad, sir. Really bad."

I felt like I'd been punched in the gut, my breath knocked out of me. My nephew, Devon, was like a son to me.

"Take me to him," I growled, my anger and fear simmering just below the surface. "Now."

Luca nodded and swiftly led me out of the office, down to the alley where Devon lay motionless. The sight of him took my breath away. Blood stained the ground beneath him, and his face was a mess of bruises and cuts. My heart ached, my mind racing with questions. Who did this? Why? And, most importantly, was Devon going to survive?

"Get him inside, now!" I barked at Luca, my voice firm and urgent. "What were you thinking, leaving him out here?"

Luca looked sheepish, but I didn't have time for his excuses. "Just get him inside," I repeated, my anxiety growing by the second.

The men scurried to lift Devon, and I yelled at them to be careful. As they carried him toward the mansion, I turned to Nicholas. "Get a doctor here, now," I ordered.

Nicholas nodded and quickly pulled out his phone to dial a number. "I know what to do, sir," he said, his voice calm and reassuring.

I nodded and followed the men carrying Devon into the mansion, down to his room. My mind was racing with worst-case scenarios, but I pushed them aside and focused on getting Devon the help he needed.

As we entered his room, I could see the fear in the eyes of the men. They knew what was at stake. Devon's life hung in the balance, and I would stop at nothing to save him.

"Put him on the bed," I instructed, my voice firm but gentle. "And someone gets me a blanket. He's going to need it."

The men quickly complied, and I turned to Nicholas. "Where's that doctor?" I demanded.

Nicholas held up his phone. "He's on his way, sir. Should be here any minute."

I nodded

, my eyes fixed on Devon's pale face. "Good. Let's just hope he gets here in time."
