Chapter 08: Outing in Gotham.

-Lois Lane (Before Arius arrival)-

*BOOM BOOM BOOM*

The constant impact of the blows between Superman and Darkseid thundered out making it impossible to hear let alone speak and all she was able to do was prop the camera up to continue live-streaming the battle that would decide Earth's fate as she covered her ears hoping they weren't damaged from the impacts.

The glow of the tablet connected to the camera gave her a zero lag feed that enabled her to see what was happening even while was crouched behind a shattered desk in the remains of a building. Around her, the muffled sounds of explosions and the hum of energy beams echoed through the air, as chaos had consumed Metropolis for hours.

Eventually when it quieted down as the fighting winded down and feeling that now would be a good time to talk her voice was low, but steady as she whispered even as her mind raced. "This is Lois Lane, reporting live from downtown Metropolis. The Justice League continues to face Darkseid, the alleged ruler of Apokolips, and his army. Civilians are still being evacuated, but the devastation is... unimaginable."

As she spoke, the camera caught a sight of another boom tube opened and which made it seem like reinforcement for the alien army were going arriving only for the leader to seemingly force it close, but before it could fully close two human like hands came through and forced it back open to reveal a monster of a man who killed one of the general of Darkseid only for Wonder Woman to be thrown sending both the heroine and the man through the portal

And when all seemed lost, a violent crack in the fabric of space appeared in the same place as the portal and from it the man who is more like a force of nature emerged alongside Wonder Woman, his body radiating an unnatural green aura.

The man seemed to do more damage in a couple minutes than the entire Justice League inflicted in hours and after fighting for a bit and when the mysterious man was about to launch another attack towards the Earth Green Lantern struck, launching the him into the distance with Darkseid following and Superman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern on their tail.

The sight left Lois momentarily speechless, "It seems like the battle will continue elsewhere as the Justice League and the mysterious man fight the alien leader who wants to conquer Earth. I'll head back to the studio and let you know if I get any updates. This is Lois Lane, over and out." Saying her peace Lois cut the broadcast to static as the battle moved beyond her view as the world held its breath.

It took hours to make her way back to the Daily Planet, climbing through and over rubble-filled streets and by the time she reached the battered but still standing Daily Planet building, the sun had already dipped below the horizon, casting the city in a orange glow that made it seem as if it was on fire.

Right as she entered she felt a gust of wind and saw Superman in front of her in all his battered glory covered in a tattered outfit that had seen better days. Even as if his cape was tattered and his face was lined with exhaustion, the familiar presence felt comforting.

"It's over," he said, simply not wearing the classic smile that was always gracing his face.

Lois blinked, "What? The invasion?" she asked in a hopeful tone.

"Darkseid is gone and his generals have been defeated. The man who came through the portal, he finished it… Let the people know, I have to go." Superman nodded before leaving, most likely to continue helping in the rescue efforts.

Her mind swirled with questions from wanting to know about the reason the aliens invaded in the first place but there was no time for a personal or in depth interview when lives were still at stake for Superman. Lois muttered a quick thank you knowing he heard even when not present as her professional demeanor kicked in as she prepared to deliver the news gathering information from all around the world.

Inside a makeshift studio they had set up in the building's basement, Lois went live once more.

"This is Lois Lane, reporting live from the Daily Planet. The invasion is officially over. The Justice League and Earth have emerged victorious, with Superman confirming that Darkseid, the leader of the aliens and his generals have been defeated. The mysterious man who appeared in the battle was instrumental in their defeat, though his identity remains unknown." Her voice carried the weight of relief, tempered by the somber reality of what had transpired. She paused, scanning the reports arriving in real-time on her tablet. Her expression grew heavier.

"The cost of this victory however is staggering because while I'm getting initial reports that estimates damage to infrastructure worldwide being in the trillions, the loss of lives was even more devastating as the tally is in the tens of millions and these numbers are expected to rise as rescue efforts continue." She said taking into account how staggering the number is, even Metropolis, one of the most populated cities in the United States, only had nine million.

A moment of silence passed as Lois composed herself, "Relief efforts are already underway and thankfully there is some light even in the dark as Billionaire Bruce Wayne has announced a global charity initiative to aid those affected, starting with a personal donation of one billion dollars and I know everyone has suffered, but I urge anyone who can to contribute, no matter how small, to do so and help rebuild what we've lost."

Lois glanced at a new update on her screen, her brow furrowing. "And in the wake of the invasion, alien technology has been scattered across the globe, with experts warning that it could pose significant risks if mishandled. I implore everyone to stay indoors or get to the nearest shelters and avoid contact with any unknown devices."

"The world has faced incredible devastation, but we've also seen extraordinary courage and unity. Let us hope that the technology we've gained can be used to rebuild and strengthen our world. Stay safe, stay vigilant and together we will recover. This is Lois Lane over and out." She ended her broadcast with a hopeful note.

The camera cut, and Lois leaned back, exhaustion finally catching up with her. She glanced out the broken window, the distant lights of emergency responders painting the night.

The invasion was over, but the fight to rebuild had only just begun yet one major question still rang in her mind. Where the fuck was John?

-Arius-

The warmth of sunlight shone through the curtains, coaxing Arius awake and he stretched, feeling refreshed and unusually comfortable. So as he opened his eyes the unfamiliar room made him freeze.

Unlike the thatch hut he was accustomed to waking up in, the current room he was in was immaculate. It had sleek furniture, polished wooden floors, and he was laying on a bed so soft it made him wonder if he'd ever slept on anything like it.

For a moment Arius thought he'd woken up from a strange, yet vivid dream where he was in the body of Broly the Legendary Super Saiyan in the DC universe after meeting god, he'd have to crack down on late night energy drinks and sleep medicine as the two didn't mix well together.

He rubbed the sleep out of his eyes and noticed that his hands were absolutely massive and not in the cute way like when he compared his to the girls he liked. The sheer weight and mass of it clued him in that they definitely weren't the hands weren't his from his first life.

So panic briefly set in and he rushed toward the bathroom, almost tearing the door off its hinges in his haste, staring wide-eyed at the mirror. His reflection, showing the towering and muscular body he was familiar with his untamable hair puffing out and multiple scars that marred his body, confirmed the truth.

He wasn't dreaming. He was still in the body of Broly, but more importantly he was back on Earth.

For a moment he stared at himself in the mirror tracing some of the scars as if to confirm they're existence and laughed at himself loudly. Arius didn't know why, but while he found his situation absurd he took comfort in the fact that he still had power that even Darkseid was cautious of and after surviving so much only to wake up in a luxurious room made him feel at ease.

A grin spread across his face as he stripped off his loin cloth and stepped into the shower relishing in the modern convenience that was hot water. The sensation was blissful, a simple luxury he hadn't experienced in what felt like an eternity. As the steam enveloped him, his thoughts wandered.

Earth. The planet he'd missed for so long, arriving via portal to fight off an alien tyrant who was trying to conquer it wasn't quite how he imagined his return and memories of Vyragos flickered in his mind. The harsh dog eat dog wilderness, the tribes of different animals who's biology he still didn't understand, and now the explosion that had sealed its fate.

He realized with a chill that if he'd stepped through the Boom Tube even a second later and the explosion went off he might not have made it. Not because of the blast itself, his Saiyan durability could handle something of that magnitude with ease when he powered up, but because of the vacuum of space. If he was exposed to its cold grip he would have as long as he could hold his breath to find another planet with oxygen, if not his second life would be over just like that. He shuddered, pushing the thought aside as he used conditioner for his hair.

While showering his stomach growled fiercely, snapping him out of his reverie. Hunger always seemed to hit him hard in this body, so he turned off the water and used a quick application of Ki to dry off as he headed to the kitchen, hoping that Batman kept the house ready with a stocked fridge.

To his delight, the fridge was packed. His grin widened as he grabbed a dozen eggs, several pounds of bacon, and other ingredients ready to make breakfast, but as he began cooking, the sizzle of the pan was interrupted by a faint sound behind him.

Turning, he was met with the sight of Wonder Woman standing in the doorway, her expression frozen. With her having spent the night in the same house and deeming her a non-threat he filtered her out of his focus and didn't notice she was even standing there.

"Morning," Arius said casually, focusing on the scent of the goodness that was sizzling in front of him flipping a strip of bacon. When she didn't respond, he tilted his head in confusion. Her eyes were locked onto him, but not on his face.

Following her line of sight Arius realized he was still naked. His cheeks flushed red slightly, not out of embarrassment at being naked, but because he'd completely forgotten about some of Earth's basic customs having lived on a savage planet for so long, because on Vyragos clothing was optional at best with none of the other beings that lived there wearing a shred of clothing.

"Uh... can I help you?" he asked, scratching the back of his head as he played dumb knowing that as this was his first time on Earth having modesty wasn't something every race had and he wasn't looking to give them ammo to find him suspicious.

Diana cleared her throat regaining her composure, "On Earth, we wear clothes almost everywhere except in the bathrooms when taking a shower. It's... not really optional." she stated now looking away to give him time to change.

"Noted," Arius replied with a shrug, going to his room and putting on his usual tattered bottoms that he's had for a couple months at that point and Arius noticed her disapproving look.

"This is all I've got." he said in confusion.

Diana sighed and crossed her arms, "Then we'll need to get you some proper clothing. If you're going to stay on Earth, you'll need to blend in."

At first he wanted to disagree, feeling more comfortable in his breathable yet tattered bottoms, but Arius nodded in agreement and felt a strange sense of excitement at being able to do an 'Earth thing' after so long, because wearing a shirt and some pants wasn't a very big sacrifice to fit in.

Earth had more to offer than just battles and chaos, so it was best to do so without flashing his little Saiyan to everyone.

"Fair enough. Do you want some breakfast?" He asked, gesturing to the sizzling food in the pan.Diana hesitated, then gave a small smile.

"I could eat." she said, patting her stomach lightly.

-Diana Prince (Wonder Woman)-

As they sat down to eat, Arius devoured his portion with similar ferocity as the previous day, but this time he was using a fork after imitating her in a way that left Diana both amused and slightly concerned.

Between bites, she glanced around the room, noting how much Arius still had to adjust to Earth's norms. He might have incredible power, but his understanding of Earth's culture was almost childlike. She'd need to ensure he didn't make a fool of himself because his power almost guaranteed he'd be a public figure.

After breakfast, Diana stood and placed her hands on her hips. "Let's go. The sooner we get you some proper clothes, the better."

Arius sighed like a petulant child which she found amusing from a man who could shoot beams powerful enough to weaken space. Even then he followed her, mumbling about missing his simple life and she felt sympathy for the warrior who likely felt lost in a foreign world with nothing being familiar, just like she did when she first arrived in the world of man.

The flight to Gotham was brisk and quiet as airlines were still down from the invasion. Diana couldn't help but occasionally glance over at Arius. The Saiyan warrior flew with an effortless grace that belied his imposing size and raw power.

While she still found it hard to believe that Arius with his straightforward demeanor and penchant for simplicity had brought down Darkseid with ease at the end. He was a mystery in the form of brute strength, and though she admired his abilities as a warrior, his lack of restraint at times and understanding of Earth's norms made her feel uneasy.

But that was why she was here, to watch out for both his well being and to make sure he didn't throw an explosion around simply because he ate some foul tasting food.

As they approached Gotham she took the lead and descended near the outskirts, as the few citizens braving the aftermath of the invasion began to notice them. Excited voices rang out, and within moments, a small crowd gathered. Diana could see their curiosity and desperation in equal measure, some faces were filled with awe and many others with worry.

When they landed the questions started immediately:

"How strong was Darkseid?"

"Who's the man behind you?"

"My house was destroyed, and the shelters are full, what do I do?"

The barrage of voices overwhelmed even her quick mind, and she shot a quick look at Arius. He stood there stiffly, his eyes scanning the crowd like a predator assessing a potential prey and Diana's stomach churned at the thought of him losing his patience with these people.

Stepping forward, she raised her hands authoritatively. "Everyone, please stand back." Her voice was firm but compassionate, as it carried throughout the open area with the crowd falling silent. "While I wish I could stay and answer your questions, we're here on Justice League business. I ask for your cooperation, please make way." she fibbed not wanting the crowd of people to overwhelm Arius.

Reluctantly, the crowd parted. Diana's sharp gaze caught sight of a woman clutching a small child to her chest. The woman's tearful eyes mirrored desperation. "I don't have anywhere to go," she murmured repeating what she said earlier, just loud enough for Diana to hear.

Without hesitation, Diana reached into her pouch and pulled out a card. She handed it to the woman. "This is information for the Wayne Foundation charity, share it amongst yourselves as they will help you out and ma'am' call the number. They'll arrange for a hotel tonight and help you find longer-term shelter. Stay safe." she said feeling pity for so many that were suffering like the young mother before her.

The woman clutched the card tightly, thanked Diana in gratitude that she didn't feel worthy of, but knowing her original goal she gently ushered Arius along.

After traveling the city she finally found an open clothing store that seemed as if it had seen better days, with parts of the display window cracked and its sign slightly askew. When the two walked in, the employees inside froze with one of them even dropping their clipboard at the sight of Arius's towering frame.

Diana approached them with her usual grace. "We need clothing for him," she said, gesturing toward Arius. "The largest sizes you have, please."

The staff were frozen in awe, most likely meeting her and fear at meeting Arius, so they took a bit to regain their bearing, returning to normal moments later and going to retrieve several shirts, pants, and jackets. Even reluctant Arius followed Diana's instructions to try them on and the results were… less than ideal.

Every shirt and pair of pants he tried on ripped under the strain of his massive physique. She could see Arius's frustration grew with every rip, while Diana could only watch, hands on her hips, trying not to show her own amusement at the situation. Human clothes simply weren't made for someone like him.

Seeing a pair of pants burst at the seams sent her mind reeling back to the morning, the sight of him standing without a speck of clothing in the kitchen, his muscular form a work of art and his scars were telling of battles, his very being made the very room feel smaller and she felt warmth crept up her neck, but she quickly shook it off. This wasn't the time for distractions.

"We'll need a tailor," she said, paying for the destroyed clothes and leading him out of the store as she sent a message to Batman about the problem she was encountering and she received a swift response from the Dark Knight.

But as they went to leave the employee who dropped the clipboard stepped closer to them drawing both her and Arius' attention. It was a young man with dark hair, a pale face seemingly in his teens.

"E-excuse me Mister, but can I please know your name?" He asked in a timid voice unable to even look the Saiyan in the eyes whether it was from being nervous or fear she didn't know, but she her instinct told her not to interfere this time.

"Me?" Arius asked, pointing at himself in confusion looking behind himself to see if anyone was standing there, which Diana found oddly adobe seeing the ferocious warrior seemingly as confused as a puppy at times.

"Yes." The employee replied, finally making eye contact with the Saiyan and seemingly ignoring her.

"Arius and yours?" The Saiyan asked.

"Eric Newman." The now identified Eric replied with a focused look on his face.

"..."

"Okay and?" Arius asked with a confused look at the silence.

"I… I… I just wanted to say thank you for helping the Justice League and killing Darkseid! That monster killed my mother who was in Metropolis to visit my aunt." Eric yelled in frustration pausing as he gathered his breath once more, "And at first I felt rage, but I realized that I was powerless to do anything and was honestly going to end it myself, but when you showed up and I heard that the bastard was dealt with I knew I had to live on to remember my mom." The teen-no young man said in a thankful tone looking at Arius with eyes full of admiration and Diana herself felt admiration for Eric seeing that he was pulling through.

"No problem Eric. Remember to stand strong and live well, that is what your mother would've wanted." Arius said gently patting Eric on the shoulder, but it seemed the Saiyan used too much strength as the young man nearly buckled and that response shocked her as she didn't think Arius would give such a compassionate response.

The conversation the two had reminded Diana of her own mother, Hippolyta and the love she knew her mother had for her even after leaving Themyscira without her permission, as well as the story Arius told about his mother dying to Darkseid most likely hearing the similar story of Eric sparked some humanity with the Saiyan.

And at that moment Diana knew that Arius would be the perfect addition to the Justice League… At least after he learned more about Earth culture.

Leaving they soon found a tailor shop that was a stark contrast to the chaotic clothing store. The shop was in much better condition as neither the aliens nor the attacks seemed to affect the area much.

After making the request the elderly tailor eyed got to work eyeing Arius with a mixture of curiosity and trepidation as he took the Saiyan's measurements, muttering about never having seen a man so large and in truth neither had she, the only man she knew comparable was the King of the Gods, Zeus.

As the tailor continued to work meticulously Diana could sense Arius's impatience, so she kept a brief conversation with him and after the tailor was finished got moving along. Paying for the custom set of clothing and arranging for it to be ready the next day.

Arius asked why they were only ordering one set and she responded with the message she received from Batman earlier, "The League is working on creating something more durable for you. The cloth of man, even tailored, will rip if you were to grow or train, so we will make you multiple sets out of a unique material that will stretch and endure abuse when you grow or train and it won't take long, so I only ordered a single pair in case you went out again."

Arius accepted her explanation with a nod, though Diana could see he was more annoyed at the inconvenience than anything else. She couldn't blame him after everything he'd been through, adapting to Earth's customs was undoubtedly frustrating.

As they left the shop, Diana couldn't help but wonder, What will it take or how long will it take for him to truly integrate him into this world? For all his power and resilience his every action was a reminder that he was a stranger in a strange land. But Diana was determined to help him find his place. Not only for his sake, but for the sake of Earth.

-Arius-

As Arius followed alongside the costume-clad beauty, he paused something far more enticing, capturing his attention. A scent. It was subtle at first, but all his mind could do was focus on it. The pull was nostalgic and hit him like a freight train, a sweet, rich aroma that tugged at a deeply buried memory.

His head jerked up, and his nose twitched and without a word to Diana, he veered off by his lonesome, his mind focused on the pursuit of whatever heavenly source was creating that smell. It was on the tip of his tongue, but he couldn't quite recall the name of it.

Turning multiple times and bumping into some people he decided to cut through an alley, Arius's focus on the scent was interrupted as a figure stepped in front of him blocking his way. A scruffy man standing around average height wielding what Arius assumed was a weapon of some kind inside a cloth bag, most likely being a gun.

"Empty your pockets!" The man demanded, his voice shaking and breath unsteady as he looked around twitching slightly, not even making an effort to look at the Saiyan.

At the demand Arius mind blanked, his mind processing the audacity of the smaller being. Was he serious? Arius was nearly seven feet tall and built like a fortress. He smacked Superman around and went toe to toe with Darkseid without going Super Saiyan.

Even now he could crush the man's skull with a slight squeeze of his hand, but he didn't bother responding. Instead Arius shot out his massive fist his hand wrapping around the would-be robber's neck like a vice. Lifting the man effortlessly, Arius examined him with disdain. The man smelled of cigarettes, alcohol and filth as if he hadn't washed himself in weeks, even his teeth were yellow with some gaps in between.

"You've got to be the stupidest creature I've met. Even the dumbest animal on Vyragos has better survival instincts than you." Arius muttered in disgust, his grip tightened with the man beginning to flail, choking and sputtering sounds escaping his body, unable to even beg for his life while scratching and clawing at his neck.

Arius debated snapping his neck, his Saiyan instincts urging him to eliminate the weak and foolish, with less intelligence than a dog, however before he could decide, a firm yet gentle hand gripped his shoulder. "Arius, please put him down," Diana's voice commanded with calm authority.

He turned his head slightly, loosening his grip as he met Diana's gaze. "He threatened me by pointing some kind of weapon at me," Arius explained, his tone confused at the sheer audacity of the idiot.

"I figured and he will face justice, but Earth isn't Vyrgos or Planet Vegeta. It has its own system of punishment, so let him go." Diana said evenly.

Arius stared at her for a moment, then sighed. What she said was true, he couldn't handle it like he did with 'Dumbass One and Two' back on Vyragos beating them up until they listened. It was hard to shake off the habits ingrained from the past decade living with animals.

So he dropped the man unceremoniously to the ground. The human equivalent to 'Dumbass' collapsed onto his hand and knees coughing and clutching his throat. Diana stepped forward, wrapping him securely in her golden lasso which confused him with its magical abilities.

Arius crossed his arms, still baffled by the human's sheer stupidity, turned and asked Wonder Woman, "Why would someone so weak even think they could rob me? Not even on Vyragos did mindless beats attack me at random and here I would think that humans would show even more fear?" he muttered out his question.

Diana suppressed a smirk as she finished restraining the man. "Not everyone has the best judgment under stress and this man was desperate and you just so happened to be the most convenient target. Don't take it personally." she said with a smile patting him on the arm giving it a squeeze.

Soon the police arrived and took the would-be thief into custody. As they left, the scent that had drawn Arius' attention earlier wafted back to him, reigniting his hunger and without a word he started walking again, Diana following close behind.

"Where are you going now?" she asked, a hint of exasperation and irritation in her voice, but he didn't care because nothing was going to get in between him and whatever smelled so good.

But he had to reply so he simply replied 'Food' and his focus narrowed in on the source of the aroma. Turning the final corner, he spotted it. A seemingly broken-down ice cream truck parked on the sidewalk having been thrown there by an alien based on the external damage with a man standing next to it, handing out ice cream to a small crowd.

"They're melting soon, so come get some ice cream!" the man called out cheerfully and the sight sparked a memory deep within Arius, and he froze for a moment. Triple fudge ice cream. A seemingly ordinary food that had been his comfort when things got tough in his first life, a small joy amidst chaos, so without hesitation, he joined the line with Wonder Woman trailing behind him while snickering.

They definitely got the attention of everyone there and when it was their turn, the ice cream man, hurriedly thanked Wonder Woman and himself before asking what flavor they wanted and by luck he got the last Triple Fudge ice cream and Diana, ever the hero handed the vendor a solid gold coin in return for his good deed of giving back to the community. The man's eyes filled with tears, and he thanked her profusely.

Arius, not having the patience to wait, took a small bite of the rich, chocolaty treat and closed his eyes, savoring the taste. It was better than he remembered. "This… is amazing," he said, more to himself than anyone else and memories of his first life hit him from the good to the bad the nostalgia was overwhelming yet welcome.

Diana smiled, licking her own cone, "Ice cream is one of my favorite treats as well," she said, guiding him away from the gathering crowd as he continued to slowly savor the treat. She led him to the top of a building sitting on the ledge. Finding it a peaceful spot, they sat together, enjoying their ice cream under the sky.

"You know you could've just asked." Diana said with a chuckle playfully bumping shoulders with him, "And if you ever want ice cream just let me know I have a supplier and could order gallons of it for the villa." That caught his attention as the thought of eating ice cream until he was bloated sounded like a dream come true.

"Sorry for leaving earlier. I just… I've never smelled anything so good, but if you can please order some of this one." Arius scratched the back of his head, feigning sheepishness as he happily wrapped his arm around the shoulder of Wonder Woman feeling that Batman had a rival for his top spot as his favorite Justice League member.

She chuckled, "It's fine, I understand you're not used to things yet, but you will be and I'll order some later. I need to make sure that the shop is still open after the invasion." She said with a playful look in her eyes.

They sat in companionable silence for a moment before Arius turned to her, his curiosity piqued. "So you heard about me and how I grew up. What about you?" he asked wanting to know more about the Super Heroine.

And Diana began recounting her story, explaining things from her divine lineage and upbringing. Arius listened intently, genuinely surprised by her heritage that he initially doubted feeling that anyone weaker than himself likely wasn't a true god, but he didn't say anything letting her brag. He hadn't known much about Wonder Woman from his past life, and the information intrigued him, especially hearing that she grew up on a magical island and fought in World War two.

By the time they returned to the villa it was already the evening with the two watching the sun set. As they landed he sensed a rapidly approaching Flash was coming to take over Diana's duties.

She hugged Arius goodbye, telling him she considered him a friend and hoped he'd behave while she was gone, so they could do it again and he returned the hug, appreciating her warmth and sincerity and made sure to remind her about the ice cream wanting at least two tubs.

After she left the Flash grinned mischievously, "So, are you and Wonder Woman huh?" the Scarlet Speedster asked in a suggestive tone and he was about to deny it, but the more Arius thought about it the more it seemed like it was a good match and over the years on Vyragos he learned to not deny what he wants, because if someone else takes it he can only be left with regret.

So he simply smiled, "I like her. She's the strongest woman I've ever met, funny, considerate and she bought me food." Arius replied not stating that the tiny doubt he had about the size of his manhood being too large for anyone could take all of him.

The Flash raised an eyebrow and wolf-whistled, "That's one way to put, being in L.O.V.E." he said

"I wouldn't call it love, but attraction for sure. Maybe in the future

"Sounds great, I'd ship you two. Now let's get inside so I can introduce you to another Earth luxury you'll love called video games." The flash said zooming inside and Arius followed excited to enjoy life her on Earth, but as he walked inside his Ki sense picked up an absolutely massive energy signature entering Earth's atmosphere.

It was even larger than Darkseid's, but held a similar frequency to Superman's.
