Humans:
The most politically active race on Veloria. They are ambitious, adaptable, and diverse in skill and intellect. They excel in both magical and mundane fields, from high magic academies to knighthood and governance.
Way of life: Humans form most of Astoria's ruling class and nobility, living in structured societies with strict hierarchies. They have a keen sense for strategy, politics and the power of alliances.
High Elves:
Known for their grace and celestial magic, High Elves are closely attuned to nature and celestial alignments and are often revered as scholars.
Way of life: Scholarly and contemplative, mostly residing on the Elvaris continent. Their culture values wisdom, beauty and longevity, often favouring diplomacy over conflict. They sometimes view humans as impulsive and short-lived, looking down on them.
Wood Elves:
Connected to nature, wood elves are skilled in nature magic and live in harmony with magical flora and fauna of Elvaris.
Way of life: Wood Elves lead simple, communal lives in the Glimmergroove, preserving the natural balance. They inhabit tree villages and forest grooves where they protect the ancient secrets of the forest. They are known to be wary of outsiders, especially humans.
Shadow Elves:
Known for their dark skin and keen senses, Shadow Elves are masters of stealth and shadow magic, rarely seen by other races except on their own continent and kingdom.
Way of life: The Shadow Elves live on the Nytheris continent where they maintain a society structured around secrecy, survival and respect for the darkness. Outsiders see them as cold and distant, but they value loyalty and will defend their own fiercely
Dark Elves:
A subset of High Elves residing on the continent of Solarae They have dark skin and are masters of fire and earth magic. There are those among them who dab in the dark arts as well.
Way of life: Their society is highly disciplined with a strict hierarchy where each family answers to the ruling council. They are known for their loyalty to their kin but can be ruthless towards rivals and outsiders.
Fae Folk:
Enigmatic and elusive, the Fae are known for their trickery and deep ties to nature as they reside in the Elderbloom Wilds and Glimmergroove on the Elvaris continent. They are skilled illusionists with unpredictable personalities, often appearing and disappearing at will.
Way of life: Their societies are loosely structured, with power governed by individual charisma rather than laws. They value freedom and playfulness but are known to strike harsh bargains with those who cross their paths, making them both friends and foes to other races.
Dwarves:
Expert miners and craftsmen mostly residing on the Elvaris continent where they craft powerful artefacts.
Way of life: They are known for their discipline and dedication to their craft and community above all else. Reclusive, only trading their crafted artefacts with trusted allies, and have a guarded respect for celestial magic. They usually avoid conflicts unless provoked.
Kyrrath (Half giants at least 2 meters tall):
Beings with dark skin known for their fiery temper and strength. They are innately powerful with fire magic and reside on the Solarae continent.
Way of life: Live in clans and follow a strict code of strength and respect. Each clan is led by a chief chosen via combat. They act as powerful mercenaries for explorers who venture into the Oasis of Mirrors, the Emberclad Hills and other dangerous regions. They are open about their sexual habits and don't shy away from showing their affections in public.
Beastkin:
A race made up of various distinctions of bestial characteristics. Catkin, foxkin, lionkin, etc. They reside on the Solarae continent and are neighbours to the Kyrrath.
Way of life: Mostly guided by their instincts, they are warriors skilled in close combat and live in clans that grew until a kingdom naturally took form. They are ruled by a council of elders and are fierce with a deep respect for the desert.
Vampiric Nightborn:
A race born of dark magic of unknown origin. The vampires have vampiric abilities and feed off the essence of life to survive. Gifted shadow manipulation users and can turn invisible in dim light.
Way of life: Residing on the Nytheris continent due to their weakness to sunlight. They are selective about whom they interact with, preferring solitude or the company of other outcasts. The vampires follow a strict code of survival, with the elders guiding the younger generations on how to control their nature. They view the Whispering Fens as a sacred ground and place of spiritual testing.
