"Oh right, Mr. Geng, do you have any genetic potions in your lab?" Ding Huan recalled something and then asked.
Mr. Geng Qianxing was stunned for a moment, and then said, "I still have an Endurance Gene Potion. I used one after my own research and kept another one as spare."
Ding Huan smiled, "I don't need the standard Endurance Gene Potion that you have developed. I want the defective ones that resulted from your research."
"Really? What do you want those for? I'm about to destroy them all," Mr. Geng Qianxing said with some confusion.
"Give me one treatment, and help me find two or three gene potion packaging materials that are on the market, preferably the more valuable kind," Ding Huan said.
"Okay." Mr. Geng Qianxing did not ask what Ding Huan was going to use it for. He turned around, and soon returned with three gene packaging boxes and three tubes of the failed Endurance Gene Liquid.
"Not bad, these are Shi Yina Gene from West Wind Gene Company," Ding Huan chuckled.
Mr. Geng Qianxing mocked himself shaking his head, "I can't afford to buy such genes, these were bought by the school. After using them we only kept the packaging, so I just kept them."
Years ago, someone had invested in Yujiang University, which also wanted to develop its Genetic Department, not only establishing top-tier gene laboratories but also purchasing various types of gene products.
Ding Huan knew that Mr. Geng Qianxing's initial idea was to market the Endurance Gene Potion just like the other big gene companies did once the research was successful.
Mr. Geng Qianxing kept the Shi Yina Gene packaging probably for reference.
"You must remember to seal all the information related to the Endurance Gene and keep it safe. I have something to do, and when I'm done, I will come to train the students who are participating in the Blue Star Ten Great Colleges assessment.
Believe me, pretend you know nothing about the Endurance Gene Potion for now. After you lead the team to participate in the assessment of the Ten Great Colleges, you can deal with it," Ding Huan repeated his instructions to Mr. Geng Qianxing.
"I understand," Mr. Geng Qianxing nodded earnestly. His life was at stake, so he dared not mess around.
As for why he trusted Ding Huan, it was because Ding Huan had contributed to part of the Endurance Gene's development and he didn't have a second choice. Plus, he felt he could trust Ding Huan.
After sending Mr. Geng Qianxing away, Ding Huan returned to his equipment and took out several medicinal herbs from his bag to start creating the additive solution for the gene potion.
An hour later, wearing gloves, Ding Huan started wiping the inside and outside of the three packaging boxes repeatedly.
After finishing the wiping, he mixed the solution he made with the gene potions given by Mr. Geng Qianxing and then placed them in the three Shi Yina Gene packaging boxes.
...
Leaving the gene laboratory building and before approaching his residence, Ding Huan saw from afar two men watching his place. They were sitting on a stone bench, seemingly chatting.
With just one glance, Ding Huan knew these two guys were waiting for him.
Ding Huan did not go back. Instead, he found an inconspicuous spot to sit down from afar.
Although he had only cultivated for half a day, he didn't think it would be difficult to take down these two people. But this was the school; if he was going to make a move, he would have to leave the school first.
It was clear that the school was becoming busier, a testament to the allure of the Blue Star Ten Great Colleges.
Yujiang University only had twenty reference places, and now there were hundreds, if not thousands of people, probably all about who had the strongest connections.
Thinking of it, the president of Yujiang University, Tan Bei, must be having his moment in the sun these days.
...
"Li Changqi, look, it's already dark. That Ding Xiaotu definitely won't come back today," Dong Gu's tone had a bit of a grudge.
Indeed, the two had been shadowing Ding Huan for over a week now, from outside the school to inside, and now they hadn't even seen a trace of Ding Huan.
Li Changqi also nodded and stood up, "We'll stop here for today and come back tomorrow. Even if he comes back late, he will definitely trigger the mark I made."
"Damn it, this little brat is just wasting my damn time. Once we catch this little rascal, I'll make him beg for death," Dong Gu stood up, cursing and swearing.
From a distance, Ding Huan saw the two men who had been watching his residence leave and immediately returned to his place. He threw his bag into the room and took only a short blade to track them.
Thinking back on his last miserable life, Ding Huan had no intention of holding back.
Ding Huan thought these two guys must have driven over, but surprisingly, they just walked for about ten minutes and entered a small courtyard.
Yujiang University was in the suburbs of Luoh River City, and during its prime, the area around the university used to be a small college town.
There were various shops and rented lodgings, similar to the small courtyards like the one they had just entered, which were even more numerous around the outskirts of Yujiang University.
However, Yujiang University's Martial Arts Classes failed to take off, and the natural sciences courses were far behind as well.
Yujiang University had hoped to gain a competitive edge by pouring a substantial amount of financial resources into their gene laboratory. It could be said that Yujiang University's gene laboratory was ranked among the best in the entire state.
Regrettably, the investment went down the drain as years of research yielded no results—while the financial expenditure reached a horrific level, leading to the eventual bankruptcy of Yujiang University.
Geng Qianxing's discovery of the Endurance Gene was certainly tied to his abilities, yet it was also inseparable from the exorbitant investment Yujiang University had made into the Genetic Department.
Although Yujiang University was no longer operational, the surrounding houses still stood.
Ding Huan didn't go in immediately; he was certain these two guys were the legwork type for surveillance. Since they were involved in surveillance, there was a very small chance they might also be monitored. And even if they weren't monitored, the landlord might have installed surveillance cameras.
Despite the uncertainty, Ding Huan followed his own thinking: if he were to install surveillance cameras to monitor these two guys, where would he place them?
The entrance gatehouse, possibly facing inside the courtyard or perhaps even the outside.
Ding Huan observed the courtyard wall carefully, confident that there were no cameras.
He cautiously approached the gate from the side, and once at the side of the courtyard gate, Ding Huan discovered a camera installed both inside and outside the courtyard.
After destroying the surveillance, Ding Huan rather boldly entered the courtyard and then knocked on the door.
"Is it you? Ding Xiaotu?" Dong Gu opened the door, somewhat in disbelief at the sight of Ding Xiaotu before him.
They had been on watch for over a week with no news, and now Ding Xiaotu had actually shown up at their doorstep. It all seemed too surreal to him?
However, before Dong Gu could react, Ding Huan landed a punch right at Dong Gu's temple. Dong Gu didn't even have a chance to react before falling to the ground.
At that moment, Li Changqi snapped to his senses, pulling out a dagger from his waist and lunging at Ding Huan.
Though Ding Huan had only started his cultivation half a day ago, he had once fused six genes and was a fourth-level gene cultivator.
Having wandered the universe for so long, he had faced countless bouts of violence. Before Li Changqi could get close, Ding Huan sidestepped with a forceful elbow strike backwards.
Li Changqi let out a scream and then fell to the ground, looking at Ding Xiaotu in horror.
According to their information, Ding Xiaotu was just a student, and the kind with the least capabilities at that.
Yet, the blows Ding Xiaotu had delivered made it seem as if he fought daily.
"Who sent you?" Ding Xiaotu didn't pay attention to Li Changqi sitting on the ground but instead turned around, closed the door, and then found a chair to sit down.
"Ding Xiaotu, if you dare touch us, I assure you you'll regret not dying sooner. And I'm just a lackey—if you mess with me, it's not worth the loss," Li Changqi said sternly.
He calmed himself down a bit. Ding Xiaotu must have learned some martial arts from someone—it wasn't strange. Ding Baishan had plenty of money; what martial master couldn't he hire?
Learning a bit of martial arts? What could it amount to? A mere middle school student, how much could he do? With his social experience, he wasn't afraid he couldn't intimidate a greenhorn.
Ding Huan chuckled, "Don't worry, I won't hit you even if you don't talk."
Hearing Ding Huan's words, Li Changqi didn't breathe easier; instead, he felt a cold chill.
Before he could speak again, he saw Ding Huan take out a packaging box and open it to reveal a bottle of potion inside.
Watching Ding Huan walk over to the still-unconscious Dong Gu, he opened Dong Gu's mouth and poured all the contents of the glass bottle inside. Li Changqi was stunned.
Was this the Shi Yina Gene Potion? And not even the injectable kind? How had Ding Xiaotu become so generous, giving Dong Gu the Shi Yina Gene Liquid?
That stuff was so valuable that even selling him and Dong Gu wouldn't net enough to buy it.
After Ding Huan finished, he sat back down, now holding another gene packaging box with "Shi Yina Gene" written prominently on it.
"This is for you. If you don't answer my question willingly, I'll pour it down your throat," Ding Huan still wore a smiling face.
Dong Gu's eyes had opened, and he immediately let out a scream of agony as he began rolling on the ground. Within less than a minute, blood started to flow from all seven of his facial orifices, and he was even violently vomiting up his internal organs.
Li Changqi watched Dong Gu rolling and vomiting blood, turning as pale as a sheet of paper.
He looked at Ding Huan whose expression hadn't changed in the slightest and was unable to stop himself from trembling. Was Ding Xiaotu a devil? Just a student, how could he be so brutal?
"I'll wait for you for one minute at most. If you're not willing to talk, I'll just leave, you know."
Ding Huan was still smiling warmly, and in his heart, he sneered. If it wasn't for his own terrifying tolerance to various gene liquids, his own death in the previous life would have been far more miserable than Dong Gu's before him.
"I'll talk, I'll talk, I'm from the Washing Blade Association... You can't touch me, you surely know how powerful the Washing Blade Association is. If you lay a hand on me, they won't let it go..."
Li Changqi's lips quivered as he desperately wanted to utter threats to intimidate Ding Huan, but he couldn't find the right words to express himself. (That's all for today's update, dear friends. Good night, and please, cast a vote for me!)
