Chapter 8
Naya's point of view
I took my seat right beside the triplets, masking my confusion with my eyes trailing back to my mother on the platform with her new husband.
"Hey you, good afternoon."
I turned the voice greeting me, it was Vladiel. The one who supposedly hates communication is starting one with me. He sounded nothing like the one I left sitting in my room, quite the opposite actually.
I faked a friendly smile, masking a sweet face. "How are you? How was the city? Or studying?" I quizzed, with feigned enthusiasm.
"Ah!" He exclaimed, followed by a boisterous laughter, confusing me on what was funny about my questions. "I'm sorry, just that I thought you weren't going to be this nice when I greeted you. So it was kind of like a slam on my assumption when you actually played nice. Well I can't say much about the city, it's exhausting as well as exotic. Studying there is just a hectic plus, all in all, the city is great and pretty cool place to be. While me and my brothers are still here, I look forward to getting to know you better. I'm Vladiel by the name, and you have a beautiful hair."
I kept my smiley face intact, never twitching out of posture. Was this an error in the magical making or is Vladiel's clown really this talkative?
"Sure thing, you can call me Naya. I'd really like to know you guys, considering both of you are becoming my brothers now. What do I need to know? To watch out for? How is the palace and everything?" I spoke up, pushing the conversation further, albeit how draining it is.
"Oh there's nothing to watch out for, I'd honestly tip you instead to continue living your old life here, except it's like a premium upgraded version. You still get to watch your sunrise, do the things you love doing, but in a luxurious style."
The smile on my face dropped, my gaze becoming wary. This is supposedly our first time meeting, how did he know I love watching sunrise?
"How do you know I love watching sunrise?" I asked, the friendliness masking my face nowhere to be seen.
His smile hanged, and he became still for several seconds, giving him a robotic outlook. He suddenly drew his index into his chest, scoffing out loud. "Me? Know? When did I say you love sunrise? Oh wait so you love watching the sun rise? Wow, that's going to be the first thing we love and have in common. What else do you love?" He said, aiming to gaslight my beliefs.
But…. "You literally said just now that I still get to watch my sunrise, from where did you learnt the fact that I love watching the sunrise?" My gaze on him squinted, and something weird flashed around his pupils.
He chuckled. This was honestly becoming creepy, is this attached to the Alpha King? Because he's the creepy one I know.
"I never said that, you must have misheard me definitely. What I recall saying is us having that in common, not whatever you think you heard. So tell me, what else do you love? I love sitting by a waterfall, I love the rain, and a few loads of other things. I'm interested in learning a lot about you," he turned the whole conversation around to keep going instead of suspecting.
"Yeah, excuse me." I stood up, walking out of his sight and into the crowd. I didn't have a destination in mind, but I just wanted to be away from him.
Something is definitely not right with them, and my gut kept pointing at the Alpha King. He is the only one apart from my mother, and dead father who knows I love watching the sun rise.
I skimmed through the crowd, nearing the exit.
"Ugh. Such a whore, I'm telling you Niah, she murdered his wife. She's such a slut."
My feet halted at the heard of the statement, my head turned around to the direction of the voice to see two girls of around my age standing there with a bitter look casted at my mother.
"I still think she manipulated the King, and they both worked together to murder our sweet Luna. I hate her so damn much," the one beside her replied.
"You're very wrong, you know my mate is a guard here in the palace, he's like my private informant. He told me he's seen her seducing the king several times, and that he was sure of her behind the Luna's death."
My body boiled from where I stood, what kind of speciation is that? Cause I am very sure his liar of a mate cannot prove his words.
In pure anger, I stalked over to them, tapping on her shoulder the moment I got to her, unable to hide my furious gaze.
Her head whipped to my direction, "And? Who are you?" She quizzed, eyeing me disgustingly from head to toe.
"Somebody, that's all you need to know. Now I came to warn you to stop spreading misinformation and lies, makeups or whatever you see fit those words you spew without coughing…" I rolled my eyes, taking a pause. She had on her face an awed expression, either shocked of my reprimanding or my audacity.
"My mother didn't seduce anybody, in reality it was your damned Alpha King who seduced her and messed up our pretty okay life. There is the truth, deal with it and stop spitting rubbish on something you and your foolish mate know nothing about." I finished my articulation, turning around before she might decide to retaliate with violence or physical altercation.
I have never fought, not once in my life. This is even going to be my first time engaged in a confrontation with someone that isn't my mother or father, I'm used to a secluded space and life.
I was just heavily triggered with the slandering.
"Bitch!"
I haven't gotten away that much before a hold latched onto my hair, pulling me backwards and inflicting a harsh pain on my scalp.
I was whirled back to face the girl I had just scolded for spitting shit about my mother.
"You think you can just run your mouth and go freely with it right? Who are you calling foolish huh?" Her eyes glared into mine, her hold on my hair tightening.
My face scrunched in pain, "Let me go!" I urged, reaching for her hold and pulling on it, trying to loose the grip.
"Not after you've been taught a lesson slut, like mother like daughter." She proceeded to dragging me out of the hall by my hair.
Did she just call my mother a slut again?
"Stop calling my mom a slut!" I hollered, my palms clenched into a fist, sending double punches into her gut that had her hold on my hair loosening.
She pushed back, groaning from the impact of my punch. Fury gleamed into her eyes, and her pupils dilated changing colors.
Shit! She's summoning her wolf.
I immediately took to my heels, running with all my night out of the hall and away from her. I glanced back to see her catching up with her, but still in my human form.
"Fuck! Fuck!! Fuck!!!" I cussed, hoping I'd outrun her. There's a corner in sight, I must use it to my advantage.
I look back to see her almost catching me. Thankfully I arrived at the corner, so I took the corner that awfully led to an open space.
I was met with a garden, I look back to see my chaser and unfortunately she stood right behind me with an evil smile pasted on her face.
Yup, I'm fucked. Why did I even punch her or confront her in the first place knowing I'm no better than a weak human.
Regret morphed into my expression as I stepped back and away from her.
"Tell me bitch, how do you want to suffer?" She questioned, flaying her hands to display herself extracting her claws. Her eyes glowed yellow and her wolf was in control.
She bridged the space between us swiftly grabbing me by my neck and forcing me to my kneels, "Don't worry, I will make it painful." She hinted, her hand going up to the air to slash my face.
I closed my eyes, expecting the horrid sensation that'd come after the slap, however nothing came.
My gaze peeled open to see her gagging, her mouth opened wide as if fighting for her breaths. Her palm dropped from my neck, as she stepped away from me.
"You dare try to hurt my mate?" A familiar voice surfaced, raunchy and belonging to Azriel.
He was standing feet away from us with his eyes glowing red, signifying his presence and rage.
