Chapter 3 - Chapter 1 Exile_3

By the time everyone's attention had turned, smoke was already billowing from the prisoner's chest, his skin peeled back to reveal a charred mess, and everyone nearby could smell the burning flesh.

Gao Xin saw that the dead man was none other than Mo Qiong, the Radiation class inmate.

"Ah..." the prisoners suddenly gasped in horror.

They had just started to stir when the surrounding marines immediately picked up their guns.

However, all the guns were broken, Mo Qiong had precisely disabled dozens of guns at the scene.

Yet even so, no one dared to make a move or attempt to escape.

They just watched as the officer in white calmly walked up to the corpse.

The right eye area was also slightly charred and blackened, exposing what was originally a lifelike eyeball, now clearly a cybernetic eye, flickering with a dark red light.

"Damn it, it's always so gritty when I use it."

The officer pulled out a spray bottle, somewhat resembling a thermometer gun, cursing as he lifted his head, pried open his eye socket with one hand and targeted his right eye with the gun, pressing it several times as if applying eyedrops.

Soon after, when the spray bottle was moved away, the slightly ash-covered cybernetic eye was no longer visible, replaced by an eye indistinguishable from a normal one.

"He's a cyborg..." Gao Xin then realized the officer's identity as a Half-Mechanical, who had undergone significant cyborg modifications but used very good cosmetic coverings, so he appeared no different from a normal person.

It was too fast, who could dodge a laser? It was virtually a glance and a highly capable Radiation class prisoner was killed.

While the precise strength comparison was unknown, the officer's power was beyond doubt.

Simultaneously, the officer's indifference chilled Gao Xin's heart, killing a man with a glance and only concerned about whether his eyes were dry.

Clearly accustomed to it, which led one to think, how indifferent were the true criminals on the island to life?

When they were sentenced to exile on Crime Prison Island, their lives had already become trivial.

"I am Major Adams, captain of this prisoner transport ship, I know some among you are still restless..."

Major Adams, having adjusted his eye, continued to scrutinize the many prisoners, saying, "I experience this a couple of times every month during prisoner transports."

"I advise you to give up such thoughts and behave yourselves."

Saying this, Adams kicked Mo Qiong's body into the sea, this guy said he was leaving, but a laser had directly taken care of him.

"I really don't want to kill anyone, especially an Radiation class, it's a pity, he was the strongest one here, should have died ashore."

"We'll be arriving shortly, what's the rush? Once on the island, they're not my responsibility, yet you choose to defy me, what are you thinking?"

Major Adams's words were filled with regret, hinting at a sense of loss that was puzzling.

But no one dared speak up, and for a moment, the atmosphere was utterly silent.

Adams curled his lips and ordered the soldiers: "Speed it up, the sooner we get there, the better."

The ship immediately accelerated, and within a few minutes, the military ship had approached within a few hundred meters of the island.

There was no harbour here; the exiles were always just dumped anywhere along the coast. At this moment, the water was fairly deep, but it was no longer possible for the military ship to get closer.

Adams pointed at the sea and said, "Alright, everyone line up and jump in order."

"What?" many prisoners exclaimed, just finding a spot along the shore to throw them into the sea?

"Sir, it's still so far, just jump into the sea and swim over?"

"Please, I can't swim."

"And me, sir, my leg is broken, how can I swim?"

Several prisoners couldn't help but plead, especially the man with a broken leg, who was pale as he was incapable of swimming those few hundred meters.

However, Adams simply repeated himself, completely indifferent to everyone's pleas.

"Plunk!"

Knowing better, the prisoners stopped talking, and the first in line quickly took off his shirt and jumped down.

The others reluctantly followed, jumping into the sea one by one as if dropping dumplings into boiling water.

"Sir, my leg is really broken, can I stay on the ship until I recover, then be sent to the island?"

"By then, I promise I'll go onto the island willingly, really, truly!"

The man with the broken leg sobbed and pleaded, but his words only made the major slightly raise his hand.

At the same time, a group of soldiers, now re-armed, emerged from the ship's cabin and raised their rifles.

Undoubtedly, anyone who did not comply would really be shot!

"Plunk!" Gao Xin didn't bother to look at the others; when his turn came, he dove headfirst into the vast ocean without looking back.

Despite the lack of heavy winds, the waves were still choppy; Gao Xin set his course and swam vigorously towards Crime Prison Island.

Sounds of people hitting the water continued behind him, along with cries for help.

Clearly, the man with the broken leg had jumped, but his voice was pitiful, causing Gao Xin to involuntarily turn back and look.

But he saw no one, and the voice disappeared as if swallowed by the waves.

The man was likely not going to make it.

Gao Xin did not pause, swimming even faster, yet he couldn't help but feel a profound sadness.

He, like Gao Xin, claimed he was wrongly accused, merely cried out in protest, but hadn't even reached the island before drowning at sea.

How could this not affect Gao Xin? He felt apprehensive about everything he was about to face.
