"You don't know?!" Adrian raised a brow, looking around before glancing down at Vermi with a sigh. "Vermi..."
He tickled the cat's nose, shaking his finger in admonishment. "Don't ever do that again." Adrian then petted Vermi, feeling the cat's soft fur as he looked around once more.
What is this place? He had no idea, but decided to walk—anywhere, as long as it was far away from Elena. Each step he took caused the teal light to pulse beneath his feet, casting an eerie glow on the ground.
"Should I be freaking out or what?" Adrian muttered, raising a brow as he watched his footsteps illuminate with each stride. Vermi meowed, almost as if laughing at his predicament.
Adrian's patience was running thin. The sound of hurried footsteps behind him made him sigh in annoyance. Elena was running after him, her breath coming in quick gasps.
"Adrian, wait!" she called out, her voice echoing in the strange landscape.
Adrian didn't slow down. Instead, he quickened his pace, determined to put as much distance between them as possible. "Leave me alone, Elena," he called back over his shoulder, not bothering to look at her.
"Adrian, you don't understand," she insisted, struggling to keep up with his brisk pace. "This place... it's not safe. We need to stick together."
He ignored her, focusing on the path ahead. The teal light continued to pulse, growing brighter with each step. The landscape around them shifted and changed, a surreal blend of familiar and alien elements.
Vermi meowed again, this time more urgently. Adrian glanced down, noticing the cat's wide eyes and tense posture. "What's wrong, buddy?" he asked, but before he could process the answer, the ground beneath him began to tremble.
Adrian stumbled, struggling to keep his balance as the landscape warped and twisted around him. Elena finally caught up, grabbing his arm for support. "We need to move, now!" she shouted, her voice barely audible over the rumbling.
Without another word, they started running, the teal light growing more intense. The ground beneath their feet seemed to shift and buckle, making it hard to maintain their footing.
Adrian's heart raced, his mind spinning with questions. What was this place? How did they get here? And more importantly, how could they get out?
