Chapter 56 -  A Substitute's Chest Attack

"In Cairo Tower, huh? I see." Enya chuckled softly.

At the police station, Enya listened to the police chief's report and, having received the update, turned and left the office. Just as Zuke had predicted, the police combing the streets were acting on her orders. By leveraging her Stand's power and a hefty bribe, she had managed to get the Cairo police to diligently assist in the search.

Enya was DIO's loyal follower, viewing him as the only master worth serving. Due to her negligence, the "Arrow" had fallen into the hands of a dangerous man, who had even killed Vanilla Ice, who had been sent to investigate. Although DIO hadn't expressed it, Enya believed her master was surely disappointed in her, and she felt the need to make amends. The only way to compensate was to capture that unknown man, break him down completely, and deliver him to DIO.

Not long after handling the police, Enya received good news. A police officer, using a sketch, confirmed that the man was indeed at Cairo Tower. However, given the large crowds around the tower, the officer reported the sighting instead of attempting an arrest. The police chief had no issue with the officer's decision; capturing someone in such a crowded area risked innocent lives, which could jeopardize his own position. Though Enya's intimidating power and substantial payment had prompted his cooperation, he didn't plan to involve himself in the arrest.

Enya hadn't expected these "useless" officers to actually capture the man anyway. All she needed was his location, and she would handle the rest. Before doing so, she decided to report the news to DIO, so he'd know she was making up for her failure. Being DIO's loyal devotee, Enya's thoughts revolved solely around him.

After informing DIO, Enya planned to head to Cairo Tower herself. With her Stand, Justice, she'd kill the man—or maybe, breaking his limbs and leaving him for DIO would be better. She didn't care about the collateral damage her Stand might cause; in the original story, she had even slaughtered an entire town just to ambush Jotaro Kujo's group, manipulating the corpses as her puppets.

After leaving the police station, Enya went to a large estate in central Cairo and entered.

"Oh, back so soon, Granny Enya?" A tall man with green, spiky hair, with tattoos on his forehead and chin, greeted her at the entrance. "Found anything? Lord DIO's growing impatient."

This man was Telence T. D'Arby, also a Stand user, who had only recently joined DIO's ranks. A mocking smile played on his face, irritating Enya.

"Out of my way, Telence," she snapped. "I've found the man's trail. Move aside, or you and your brother will both suffer the consequences." Seeing her anger, Telence shrugged and stepped aside, letting the furious Enya pass.

Comparing his tall frame with Enya's small stature, her need to take several steps to match one of his looked almost comical.

"Hmph, just a feeble old woman…" Telence muttered, watching her go. He felt something faint brush past his face, but dismissed it as nothing more than a gust from the open door.

In the mansion's hall stood another short man, Kenny G, whose Stand, Tenor Sax, created realistic illusions whenever strangers entered DIO's mansion. But he knew Enya, so he didn't activate his Stand, merely watching her climb the stairs to DIO's room on the top floor.

Enya was familiar with the path; she had climbed these stairs countless times to report to DIO. Yet, as she neared the top floor, she froze. At the head of the stairs stood DIO, his silhouette shadowed against the window. Enya stopped in her tracks, unsure why he was waiting outside his room.

"Stop where you are, Enya."

DIO's cold voice made her halt immediately. She had placed all her loyalty and trust in him, so she obeyed without question.

"Lord DIO… what's wrong? I've discovered the whereabouts of the man who bought the Arrow and came to report."

She had no reason to doubt that this was truly DIO; at his feet lay a woman, almost devoid of life, her neck punctured with bloodless holes—a mark of DIO's vampiric power. Only DIO could have left such a wound.

"Enya… how long have you served me?" he asked, seemingly out of the blue.

"Uh… four, maybe five years?" Enya stammered, surprised by the odd question but answering honestly.

"Four or five years, yes… Enya, you've served me well," DIO said, his crimson eyes watching her from above. "You've provided me with funds, awakened my Stand… your contributions are invaluable. But this time, you brought a great threat to me."

"Wh-what…?"

Before she could grasp his meaning, a terrifying force tore through her chest. She felt a coldness in her heart as her strength drained. Trembling, she looked down—only to see a black fist had pierced her chest from behind, protruding out the front.

"So, you found me out," Zuke's cold voice murmured behind her.
