MC's POV
As I walk through the door, I see the scene.
Lagertha and Knut are beginning to fight.
I hide in a corner and wait for the right moment.
Lagertha stabs Knut in the back; he turns and attacks with his axe, which Lagertha blocks. Then Knut manages to land a blow on Lagertha's nose, and she falls back against a nearby chest. Knut drops his axe to the ground and goes after Lagertha.
This is my chance. I approach from behind, grab the axe from the ground, and bury it in Knut's back. At the same time, Lagertha manages to snatch Knut's knife and plunge it into his stomach. Both of them turn to me in surprise.
I quickly let go of the axe, and Knut's body falls to the ground.
"Ragnar"
"Rägnar"
"Ragnăr"
"Rágnár"
"Rragnarr"
"Rahgnar"
I then raise my hands and start saying Ragnar's name in every way I can think of.
Lagertha, who was already coming toward me with the knife, stops and looks at me in confusion.
"Hvat sagðir þú?" she asks, looking at me.
(What did you say?)
"Ragnar"
"Rahgnar"
Great, it seems to have worked. Now there's just one last thing left.
Lagertha then grabs me by my hoodie and drags me out of the house.
All the other Vikings are leaving.
She forces me to my knees in front of Ragnar. How do I know it's him? Simple—just one look into his blue eyes and you know who he is. Let me tell you, if I had eyes like those, I'd never blink.
Also, like Lagertha, he has the ₩ symbol above his head, just like the helpbot mentioned before. Looking around, I notice four more people with that symbol above their heads.
The Vikings stop and stare at me.
"Hverr er þessi?" Ragnar says.
(Who is this?)
"Ek veit eigi. Þá er ek ætlaða at drepa hann, sagði hann nafn þitt," Lagertha replies.
(I don't know. When I was about to kill him, he said your name.)
"Fróðligt," says Ragnar, crouching to my level.
(Interesting.)
"Hwā eart þū? Hū wǽst þū mīnne nama?" he asks, looking me in the eyes.
(Who are you? How do you know my name?)
Holy shit, this guy speaking and looking me in the eye is scary as hell.
"Hwā eart þū? Hū wǽst þū mīnne nama?" he repeats, pressing a knife to my neck.
"Odin, Oldim. Oudhin. Owthin." I say quickly, trying to sound as close to the pronunciation of Odin as possible. I pray that it works—this is the last part of the "plan."
It seems to have worked, as I see all the Vikings starting to talk amongst themselves.
Ragnar looks at me and at the clothes I'm wearing. Then, after a moment in which I could see my death (again), Ragnar removes the knife from my neck and stands up. He says something, and a thin Viking approaches me and places a rope around my neck.
Lagertha's POV
Today was going really well—I was finally raiding a new place.
Then, when I enter a house to loot, I see Knut abusing a woman. As a woman myself, I felt outraged, so I told him to stop.
He didn't stop, so as a warning, I stabbed him in the butt.
He then turned and attacked me. I defended myself, and he turned back around and stabbed the woman. He attacked me again, this time managing to hit me in the face.
I fell back, and everything became blurry. He came closer and bashed my head several times, then started to tear at my clothes. My senses returned, and I grabbed him by the balls, stole his knife, and stabbed him.
At the same time, I felt him collapse heavily on top of me. I looked behind him and saw a young, chubby man in strange clothing holding an axe. Could he be a warrior from this place?
I quickly push Knut's body off me and head toward this enemy.
He drops his weapon to the ground and raises his hands. When he speaks, I freeze.
Ragnar—did he say Ragnar's name?
I ask what he said, and this time I'm sure—he really did say Ragnar's name.
So I grab the big guy and drag him outside. I see Ragnar and throw the big fat guy at his feet.
I explain the situation to Ragnar. Then I watch as Ragnar crouches down and talks to the big guy in the Christian tongue. (How did they refer to Old English back then? Does anyone know?)
Then I witness something surprising: the big guy says Odin's name. Do they pray to Odin here?
Everyone around me is debating what he meant. Some say he's insulting Odin and call for his death; others think he's begging the gods.
Ragnar then orders Floki to tie him up and take care of the big guy—he'll be taken as a slave.
"Where is Knut?" Ragnar looks around and asks for Knut.
"Where is Knut?" he repeats.
"I killed him."
"May I know why?" Ragnar approaches me and asks.
"He raped a peasant woman and then tried to rape me. I defended myself and killed him," I say without looking away from Ragnar.
"And did anyone see this happen?"
"He did," I say, pointing to the chubby man tied by the neck. Obviously, I'm not about to mention that I needed a chubby guy's help to defend myself—where would my pride as a Viking go? (I think warriors like the Vikings would appreciate anyone knowing that an enemy saved their life, right?)
"And where were you?" Ragnar turns to Rollo and says before storming off, clearly angry.
We all returned to the boats, and on the beach, we found the warriors from this place.
The prisoners, like the big guy and the Saxon warrior, are tied up by Floki to a nearby tree.

Short chapter, just to introduce the MC into this world. In the next chapter, I'll explain more about it. (The next chapter have 3k words.)
